I have a 1986 VHS of Winnie the Pooh and A Day For Eeyore has the Drak Red Warnings Video Dealer Announcement WDHV 1986 and is a Buena Vista-less video
When you're done completing your collection, you could start buying foreign language Disney videos. I've got a big collection of foreign Disney VHS videos (in languages such as German, Italian, French, Dutch, Polish, Danish, etc.), and they're a lot of fun to watch. But for European tapes, you're going to need a PAL compatible TV and VCR. Otherwise, The only foreign languages available in NTSC are Spanish (Mexico), French (Canada), Japanese (Japan), Korean (Korea), and Chinese (Taiwan).
I really want to start collecting foreign releases and foreign language tapes. I really want the UK only VHS of "Song of the South" (In English). There's a VCR by Panasonic called the AG-W1 that plays any tape from any country on any TV. Problem is, they are sold on eBay for a lot of money.
I've watched various parts of Disney films in other languages, and it is pretty fun. I am also well aware of the NTSC/PAL/SECAM difference, so I need the right equipment.
It's true, the right equipment is quite expensive. A few years ago, we got a PAL/NTSC Sony TV and a Hitachi VCR for a grand total of $600 (a VCR that converts PAL signals to NTSC that we were looking at cost $600 as well, so we didn't see any advantage to getting that). Anyway, when you save up enough money to buy the proper equipment, be sure to drop me a message. I've got two copies of The Lion King dubbed in Italian. I don't need the extra copy, so I can send it to you if you want it.
I don't blame you at all, I'd feel very uncomfortable giving my private information as well. However, if you change your mind in the future, let me know, and I can set up a private auction on Ebay (i've got 100 or so positive feedbacks on my Ebay account, and no negatives!).
Cool! You can just drop me a private message, either via YouTube or via Ebay (my Ebay username is hmster). If you don't want the video now, don't worry, you don't need to rush. I've had that video for years now, and it's not going anywhere. Whenever you want it, just send me a message!
I don't watch them. I'd like to, but I've read numerous things about Beta players destroying tapes (Which was supposedly why the format failed), so I don't want to take that risk.
I'm not sure. Sony stopped making Betamax machines by the late 1980s, but there were still Beta tapes being pressed. I've seen Beta tapes of "The Little Mermaid" and "The Jungle Book", and allegedly the 1993 video release of "Pinocchio" had a very few copies on Beta.
I'm not too sure. I remember there was an "101 Dalmatians" Beta tape being offered on eBay a long time ago (Around 2006 I believe), but there was no picture.
RARE VCR!

The Lion King dubbed in Italian would be a nice edition to my collection, but I don't want to reveal any addresses or information.

Wait, eBay? I've got an eBay account myself. Maybe I'll make it my next purchase.

What does your "Splash" tape look like?
systemoperator 3 years ago
The label says "Touchstone Home Video" instead of Walt Disney Home Video. I'll show it on the next update if you want.
Imaxination80 3 years ago
What's on there?
systemoperator 3 years ago
It's a Beta tape, I can't watch it. I'd assume the red/orange FBI warnings and the Touchstone Home Video logo (Was there one back then?).
Imaxination80 3 years ago
Oh, that's too bad.

I see that your Beauty and the Beast tape (the one without a case) has a drawing of Sorcerer Mickey standing next to the WDHV logo on the label.

Why do you have BETA tapes of "Disney's Best: The Fabulous 50's" and "Silly Symphonies"?
Kartoonkid95 3 years ago
They were part of two boxes of Betas that I bought, one in '07 and the other I got recently.

What's with the two Beta tapes of Dumbo?
byw613 3 years ago
Which ones? The 1981 version or the 1985 version?
Imaxination80 3 years ago
Both
byw613 3 years ago
What do you mean by "What's with the two Beta tapes of Dumbo?", you mean how did I get them?
Imaxination80 3 years ago
Never mind

Do Beta tapes play in a normal VCR?
lemonsters08 3 years ago
No, they don't play in VHS players, they're too small.
Imaxination80 3 years ago
Do you have a Beta player?
lemonsters08 3 years ago
No.
Imaxination80 3 years ago
So how do you watch the Beta tapes? Do you take the tape out of the Beta cassette and put it in a VHS?
lemonsters08 3 years ago
I don't watch them. I'd like to, but I've read numerous things about Beta players destroying tapes (Which was supposedly why the format failed), so I don't want to take that risk.

I once had a VCR that ripped up my TMNT 3 tape so It had to go. What year did Beta tapes stop being made?
lemonsters08 3 years ago

So all tapes pre-1992 were also on Beta right?
