@matteuklol If you have a dedicated extra cards for physx it may add a few, otherwise it depends entirely in the game and how heavy the physics are. Mafia 2 and Arkham Asylum are notorious for eating frames when physx at max.
@Flodice actually not entirely true in certain things a gpu is better than a cpu in others the cpu is better, in this case gpu's are far better at physics and graphics (gpu's were made to take the graphics off the cpu in the first place)
on batman, high physx recommends a GTX260 and a dedicated 9800gt, however i can run at 40-60 fps with an overclocked zotac gtx260. nvidia really want you to buy a card for physx. id rather buy another gtx 260 and SLI it
there is a difference this is a special physics engine that is meant to create a realistic atmosphere for the player it is nvidia's physX engine that requires a nvidia graphics card with nvidia physX
I realize the difference between the different engines. But there is more than one way to accomplish physics. Nvidia would have you believe that you NEED another video card. With so many dual and quad core cpu's out there it just makes more sense to utilize that relatively untapped power than to force another GPU, another power draw, another source of heat, etc....
well what cpu is that?

No shit with everything running on the cpu anything would lag that bad.

Will the next generation of consoles be able to fully integrate PhysX?

thumbs down if your computer goes like the one on the left
pabsensi 1 year ago
@pabsensi mine would run like the right off just CPU or on the GPU. Quad core i7 ftw
TheFXGuy 1 year ago
@TheFXGuy no, it would not. A decent GPU is faster than a i7.

@rafakragspikedrunk LOL this is Comparison! The left is a CPU driven physx test.
The right is a Nvidia GPU driven test...

that's funny, cpu physics worked fine on Ghostbusters. Propaganda anyone? Anyone?
