  • Why do you say "Buddha" so differently?

  • @yasashii89 Because that's the correct way to pronounce it. Westerners can't pronounce Eastern words very well it seems.

  • @EnigmaHood Even if you're speaking English? English has many words of foreign origin, it'd sound really weird if we tried to pronounce every word of foreign origin with a different pronunciation and accent each time. In Japan we don't pronounce it like that, because such pronunciation isn't part of the language. Of course I suppose that you're free to say it however you want to I guess, and who knows perhaps you'll even start a trend :P

  • @yasashii89 That's the way Sri Lankans pronounce it. I'm Sri Lankan, and every time my parents, and other Sri Lankans said Buddha, that's how they said it. Are you Japanese, or a non-native living in Japan?

  • Heres a Misconception All gay people, that's a choice to be gay, ■Gay people can’t live normal lives.

    ■Gay people will do anybody.

■Gay parents will have gay kids.

Gays can’t reproduce, so they recruit children.

    Gays want to undermine Christianity.

Gays pose a risk to the institution of marriage.

    Gays spread AIDS

■Gay people are better than straight people.

    Gays molest children.

You can pick one or all of these misonceptions about gay people :)

  • i dunno but i like as Buddha a Fat Jolly Man

  • I like the way you say Buddha, man.

    .

... I can't even speak English. I only know how to type it, and compared to the majority of people I've typed with on Youtube I type, spell, and use grammar much better than some of them. Awesome and very informative videos Mr. @EnigmaHood

  • @XxRomanov93xX I don't know. I don't speak Sinhalese, but like I said, East Asians like Japanese also pronounce it the way I do as well.

  • @XxRomanov93xX I don't know. I don't speak Sinhalese, but like I said, East Asians like Japanese also pronounce it the way I do as well.

  • @XxRomanov93xX No, I'm Sri Lankan like it says on my profile. I never heard arabs pronounce Buddha before, but Americans and other westerners pronounce Buddha, like Booda, which is not how I was raised to say it. Sri Lankans, and East Asians pronounce it the way I did in this video. Since Buddhism originated in Asia, I'm gona stick with the way we say it.

  • I think there is only one Buddha; other people who reach the same level of enlightenment are called arhats. The Buddha (Buddha - one who woke up) discovered the initial path, and the arhats followed it, but both arrive at the same destination- enlightenment and nirvana

  • How tall is the Jesus Statue in Rio de Janeiro Brasil?

  • @MrTURBOJOHN 39.6 meters counting the pedestal.

  • @EnigmaHood Only 40 meters? Epic fail I thought it was at least 80, television makes stuff look higher

  • @MrTURBOJOHN Yup, it sucks lol

  • @EnigmaHood So, a simple question, if there was one religion that was real, which one would you choose?

You cant: Create your own religion

  • @MrTURBOJOHN Buddhism. Reincarnation means I can keep being reborn again, bad people are punished for being bad, good people are rewarded for being good. No stupid penalties for not believing in stuff, no child king gods who care about your sex life, etc.

  • @EnigmaHood I'm unfamiliar with Buddhism, but what exacly is the punishment for bad people

  • @MrTURBOJOHN It's not really a reward or punishment thing. You progress along your path to enlightenment and earn your advancement by improving the world and your understanding of it. If you do something truly evil, it might set you back a bit and make your journey a bit more difficult. You aren't being punished though, as nobody's doing anything to you -- the path is one of your own choosing. When you die, there is no heaven or hell. You simply get reborn and continue your journey.

  • @MrTURBOJOHN Karma is

  • In China and Taiwan you can often come across statues of Budai in temples. People worship him as they do other folk deities, considering him Maitreya, a Buddha or Bodhisattva who is to come in the future.

  • It was good for that old Buddha

    He was a chubby dude-a

    found enlightenment through food-a

and that's good enough for me.

Give me that old time religion, that old time religion, etc.

  • At 1;46 is that not Krishna not Budda? ( though both emanations of Vishnu)

  • @bluenail90 Yeah that's correct. The pic was used in context when I was saying how Buddha is not worshiped as a deity, like Vishnu.

  • @EnigmaHood Oh right, thanks.

  • hey dude nice vid !! may i know what made u do this kinda or this vid

  • There is also a female Buddha.

When I traveled in Vietnam, I never had the feeling people saw the fat Buddha and the original Buddha as two separate figures though.

They are one, even if they are historically two different people.

  • Other people have addressed the topic, but it'd be interesting to see your take on the misconception about the world ending 12-21-2012. I saw a great 2-part video that shot itself in the head in the last 5 minutes when it turned into Jesus prophecy.

  • Hey man, haven't heard from you in a while. What's new? Ah yeah, that's a misconception that I can't believe even exists, but is very popular these days. It's funny that you bring it up though because I just had a discussion with my ex gf's friend about 2012. She's convinced that the world will end on 2012, but when I asked her why, she couldn't give me a single reason! But yes, I should definitely make a video about 2012.

  • Not a whole lot of note...some music stuff in the works. The school district is crazy. (And the kids give me lots of anecdotal information to back-up what you say in Misconception 4.)

If you'd like some help on a 2012 video, let me know, I'd definitely like to take part. Maybe I can provide some original music for it, or some other project sometime, too.

  • Yeah I would love help, in fact I had an idea for another misconception video relating to homosexuality that I could do. We should meet up, I have spring break next week. What about you?

  • My spring break doesn't come until April, but I'll be around some days after work, and I have my weekends.

  • Excellent. I'm pretty much free the whole break so whenever is good for you. Maybe give me a call, and we'll work out the details.

  • Whoa whats IQ bro you know a lot of interesting things hell you should be a Buddha :P

  • Lol!

  • Budda may not have been fat, but I am . Does this mean I'll never be able to get any attractive girls?

  • @MrEnigmafan

Naah, I'm fat and I'm fighting them off most of the time.

  • @lachlan1971 How did you get them to like you? I'm fat and I need tips on how to attract very attractive women.

  • Cool series there! Keep it up!

  • Thanks :)

  • Very cool. I learned something new today.

  • Well nice to see you are still around. The story of Siddhartha is one of my favorites. Our art gallery at school had a showing on Buddhist art interpretations. And was an enlightening bit on the Dalai Lama. It had this beautiful work on different Buddhas. Westerners never really understand how exciting some other religions are. I'll forgive you for mispronouncing only because you mentioned Siddhartha. You know what you are talking about at least. Thanks for enlightening the unknowings.

  • Hey, it's been a while. Haven't heard from you in a long time, how are you?

  • Good, just taking time to myself and reading more often. School is on the horizon and work is...well work. How art thou?

  • Not bad. Just spending time at college and working on my videos.

  • I didn't know that. Thanks for informing me dude. Awesome vid
