je ne comprends... i dun understand .. lol can sumone explain why the beast is the *bad dude* with shorter hair? i mean he's handsome and all but why?
There has never been made a more beautiful, clever or touching rendition of this story. Jean Cocteau was the sort of artist that had a hold of the heart of this piece. I never get tired of seeing it.
some of you people have no taste in films...like the Disney version is wonderful and im happy to say i grew up to that and loved it. But this version...the story, the passion...THE LIGHTING! oh so magnificent!
Actually, both movies are very different. I love both the Disney version and the Cocteau's version. What I love most about Disney's version is how they fleshed out the characters, especially with the Beast. There was conflict there; the Disney Beast was angry, confused, and human, where as the Beast in this movie was hopeless, and sad to say, pathetic.
the beast is much more sexy than the prince!!!

C'est la meilleure adaptation cinématographique du chef d'oeuvre de
Jeanne Marie Le Prince de Beaumont
(1711 - 1780).

@marsbreakfast
Because both movies are adaptations from a XVIII century story.
Cocteau didn't invent it.

I think that Prince Charming looks exactly like a Prince is supposed to look in a fairy tale. J'aime Jean Marais he was incredibly handsome =]

I do like this movie but was kind of upset that the beast's human form had to look like Avenant.

I agree! The prince is wearing more make-up than Belle! And did they have to give him that stupid clown ruffle???
marxfan8 3 years ago
It's the one big flaw that almost ruins the movie. The prince is a boring fop who couldn't possess the soul of The Beast.
unclealand 3 years ago
And the worst part is, Jean Marais was a very handsome guy, but he looks so awful as the prince! What gives?
