  • listening full volume on my headphones till 2:54... i jumped so high i think i hit the ceiling.

  • This ALBUM WILL destroy you.

  • the band evolved.

in a good way in my opinion.

  • @swiftverbicide I'll down vote myself... save yourself the trouble

  • I was listening to this with a little smoke and it destroyed me..

  • Post-Rock, the only place on youtube where you can go and there is no arguing in the comments section. Love the post-rock crowd :)

  • Oh my fucking god, I was not expecting this.

    Doomgaze, indeed.

  • Oh My!! Is it heavenly?! I think so!!

  • when I hear this I think about a tsunami wave, first the water float quiet away from the shore (0:00 - 2:50) only to come back with a massive destructive power: chaos, confusion, fright(2:51). Then after it floats in, it floats back and carry away everything that stands in the way (6:00) then everything is over, what is left over is a expanse of ruins, little runnels of water float back to the ocean that lies there as though nothing had happened (9:30).

  • Check out /watch?v=oIG1B42DSKk

wait till 1:00 for the magic to start

  • I can see a lot of metal fans flocking to and embracing this album. To me this fits more of the atmosphere of bands like Xasthur, Leviathan, Sunn O))) or Nadja than TWDY's previous post rock albums. As a huge fan of both genres this appeals more to my metal/ambient sensibilities than my post rock. Absolutley love the album!!

  • @blackmetalblunt I'd like to see a collaboration between Sunn O))) and TWDY someday.

  • @BeingBadAtMaths Dear Christ. This.

  • listening to this album is like having a post-rock album playing while you sleep and the music being integrated into your dream imagery.

  • This album was in memory of an old friend... I will rest in peace eternally

  • I miss their old stuff :(

  • Tunnel Blanket is by far their best album. Does anybody know any music that is similar to this?

  • @williewpg explosions in they sky

  • @williewpg listin to explosions in the sky, or if these trees could talk. they r quite similar to this :)

  • @williewpg As the others have stated, as well Hammock, Saxon Shore (more electric trance (sometimes referred to as Progressive trance)), Sigur Ros, The Album Leaf, Four Tet, Seven Percent Solution, and Lymbyc Systym. All incredible and intertwined with each other they each deliver a great smooth sound!

  • @williewpg Ana Never and my favourite hungarian post-rock band: Rosa Parks !! :)

  • @williewpg and Yndi Halda

  • Tunnel Blanket is kind of scary.

  • this song brought me to tears

  • I love the new direction. it's still them but the evolving/changing/growing part of their music is very exciting! Love this band. it's like Slowdive and The Flight of Phanuel mixed together!!

  • It's always the same thing really. I used to be a huge fan and now it's the same thing over and over. Slow, introspective and deep beginning, sudden overload of loud sound at the 2-5ish minute mark, devolves into a puddle of noise and garbled shit. I think I might be over post-rock, or this type of post rock anyways. I loved young mountain to death but this...I can't listen to.

  • I for one think that the plunge into deep ambience was fucking incredible.

  • Lol on my laptop I can't even hear the parts that are quiet its like silence then out of left field comes the song. Its cool but The World is Our___ kicks the hell out of this.

  • I think I pooped my pants at 2:51 lmao

  • at 2:51 i get destroyed. love it

  • This song is my favorite from the new album. Definitely an acquired taste. I too miss their old stuff and wish they'd do some more, but it's clear those days are over. For me, drone works only when you dial some really rich sounding tones... It's generally hit or miss IMO. For example, the recording of Black Dunes is a huge miss... Such a shame because when they play it live, it sounds SOOO amazing. They just layered too much on the album version. the amazing melodic tones become too muddy

  • It's still TWDY. I can still feel the same passion in the music. I think some of you are over thinking that they are trying hard to be different from explosions and others. It's just a different emotion for this album and set of songs. I personally really enjoy a band that can change their feel but still be the same. Thats what tunnel blanket is for me. It's different, but the same.

  • anyone know the chords played on the piano in the beggining ?

  • holy shit

I usually hate long instrumental pieces, but after listening to this with my eyes closed, head on the desk...wow

  • WHO THE FUCK DISLIKED THIS- NO, NOBODY LISTENS TO THE SONG TILL WE FUND THE FUCKER WHO DISLIKED IT.

  • @akatsukiyondaime2 calm yo tits

  • WHO THE FUCK DISLIKED THIS.

  • this whole album was a very pleasant surprise. I thought i was buying a post rock cd (expecting something like EITS or their S/T album) when i picked this album up. This..this is a whole other beast.

  • The very beginning of this makes me think of Twin Peaks.

  • 1 person fell into the Tunnel Blanket

  • After I listened to this, I got a t-shirt that says "I survived being destroyed".

  • @333Paradigm333 LAMMEEE

  • @Lunaficationable You know it!!

  • Love this song, just got into the band because of NeedleDrop, and I'm quite amazed how this song could just be so.

  • speechless

  • Holy fuck i got chills at 2:50...was not expecting that at all

  • My computer went blue screen.

  • Wow I love post-rock and everything. But this is really something else. I must say explosions in the sky are never able to impact me in one song as much as this song has.

  • @inner4sub5 You should check out p.g. lost.

  • What a powerful song. This is the sort of music that rewards patience, and really gets down in your bones. I love it!

  • Jesus Christ. The band name was true.

  • Honestly I really don't mind the change of sound; I feel like this album suits their name more. listened to the album straight through and my mind was destroyed. This Album Will Destroy You

  • Αυτή η μπάντα πρέπει να γραφτεί με χρυσά γράμματα στο βιβλίο της μουσικής ιστορίας.

    Τι δίσκο έβγαλαν ..πωωωωωωω!!

  • 2:53 = impending doom.

  • This isn't a catchy song at all....... Yet the riffs and feelings it gives off have been stuck in my head for two days ..... :S

  • @harrymanback4 that's the best kind of catchy

  • this is the direction they've grown into, the guys said in all their interviews when asked that this is their first album that they would listen to, and that the departure of their old drummer let them experiment new stuff and get out of the "box"

  • this is the direction they've grown into, the guys said in all their interviews when asked that this is their first album that they would listen too, and that the departure of their old drummer let them experiment new stuff and get out of the "box"

  • This is fucking exactly what direction I was hoping this band would go! :D

  • Whoa! The climax of this song knocks me out.

  • Are those screams or a guitar with effect? i seen a video of they playing this live here in youtube and it looks like in that part one of the guitar players starts to scream!

  • @Oscaracer chris uses a kaospad and screams like hell u can hear it, its not the guitar

  • This is just way too deep for me, algorithms, cancer cells, space travel, and bio confusing chemical reactions are taking over inside my mind.

  • I don't really like the change in sound. I saw them last October and most of their set was just ambient noise, I could listen to that on my iPod and it'd have the same effect, I wanted to hear them play songs from their s/t and Young Mountain. I would probably not listen to this if it weren't This Will Destroy You.

  • @JamesIsMyNamo I understand your opinion but I'm not agree with you. In this years everybody plays post-rock and their s/t and Young Mountain ok, are fantastic releases but are so similiar to all the others made by all the post-rcok bands in the world. With Tunnel Blanket, TWDY will show to the world wher is the difference between them and the rest of the post-rock's bands. Tunnel Blanket will be a masterpiece.

  • @EdgarAUDIOVIDEO Well I wouldn't have such a problem with it if it didn't seem like TWDY were changing their sound just to differentiate themselves from Explosions and the Sky and other post-rock bands. I agree that there are tons of "post-rock" bands out but TWDY did it better than 99% of the bands and I don't think they need to change so drastically. I don't want them to, but I realize they're doing what they want. I'm just questioning the motives behind it.

  • @JamesIsMyNamo Maybe they're growing musically? That's what I think at least. I love the new change in direction because it's changed as I have. Back when Young Mountain was released a few years ago, I was into the whole post-rock deal (which I still very much am.) However, as time has gone on, I've fallen in love with a great deal of ambient music. This is ambient and post-rock, a perfect combination.

  • @North0house Well I like ambient music and I like post-rock, and I love a combination like with Hammock, The American Dollar, Matryoshka, etc. But this just doesn't interest me much, it's too drony. I prefer dreamy ambient music (as flamboyant as that sounds) and this is just uninteresting; it doesn't strike my emotions like their other music does.

  • @JamesIsMyNamo Huh, I guess I see your point... I like those bands as well though, but I find a great amount of beauty in this... I do like Sunn O))), however, so maybe that's why I'm a little more accepting of TWDY's new direction, I suppose it's not strictly ambient, but more just distortion with eventual drum beats and a few chord progressions. I still enjoy it though, nonetheless.

  • @JamesIsMyNamo I totally know what you're saying, this music does not grab me like the old TWDY songs. That being said, I don't think they want it to, in fact, I think they are basically trying to become a different band. It's bittersweet for me. I like this type of music, but in general, not as much as what made me listen to TWDY in the first place. It's just a lot to take in. Still, the new songs blew me away live, and I applaud them for exploring a new direction and not being repetitive.

  • @North0house

I also love to believe as time goes on with their music, they'll consistently change their direction each album. It would remind me a little bit with Radiohead, as they switch things up a good deal each time they release something new. TWDY started around 6 years ago, and their climb toward recognition is still rising. I look forward to seeing what comes next....

  • @North0house if you like ambient and post-rock try Tarentel's Ephemera it's awesome

  • @North0house took the words right out of my mouth. Have you checked out TIm Hecker's latest album? great ambient stuff there.

  • @jfitz1431 Awesome. Ah yeah, I have. I love it. Not nearly as much as this, of course, but I still love it.

  • @North0house I'd say their combination isn't good at all. The ambiance from Suffocate for fuck sakes' album was absolutely amazing. This is trash is the utmost degree. I personally believe their whole change is music isn't because it's "what they listen to" as they said it's because they didn't want to be identified with a more popular band which I think is absurd. Young mountain was simply amazing in every way, I can't get over the fact that they won't make anything that good ever again.

  • @bIoodypingu Well, that's certainly your opinion. I think it's perfect, but that's just me. Young Mountain was good without a doubt. However, I find this to be that much better. Besides, you can't say that you didn't see this coming. I mean, listen to Villa Del Refugio off of their s/t, it has essentially the same concept as the songs on Tunnel Blanket do. I love this thing, but I don't care if someone else loves it too or hates it. That's their opinion.

  • @North0house Of course. I remember seeing their early interviews saying they didn't really intend to make post rock because it's not what they listened to and that their next album was going to be closer to what they listen to. Personally I don't get it. Drone/shoegaze is just something I will never understand. Although I like some ambient music, there's always a limit to how much should be used in a song. I mean, nearly every song is just noise drowning out everything else.

  • ahh this is wonderful!!! :D
