I had a red devil for 7 years. It killed every fish I put with it and tried to attack me whenever I went near the tank. Sometimes it would try to attack me if I looked at it from as far away the couch. It would even attack the pebbles in the tank. It was 1 1/2 inches when I bought it and about 16 inches when it died (RIP Buddy).

I switched to goldfish when it dies though...lol,

Red Devils are just plain mean! Mine is smart and it knows to attack other fish in the gills and fins first. It's messed up I give him feeder fish and he just rips all of their fins off and watches them die. piranha are only aggresive in groups, by themselves they are pussy. When I was a kid I had a friend that had 2 piranha in a tank with a goldfish they where all the same size and the goldfish would chase the piranhas around. You have to put them in groups 3 or more for them to be aggresive like they are in the wild. Red Devils always rule any tank I have had them in no matter how big the other fish where........

@Samverwimp chances are their red belly piranha. Their not that aggressive, iv had them on more than one occasion. Both time I had them they all bolted 2 the other side of the tank when I put my hand n their. I got a red devil and jag now, and both are far more fearless than piranha. Black piranha are the more aggressive piranha, if u can find them n the hobby trade. These clowns get on YouTube and talk up their piranha cuz they got sharp teeth and eat goldfish.

I had a red devil that killed a piranha. It seems like if the piranhas are'nt hungry, they won't attack. The red devils seem to attack for sport. In their first fight, the piranha bit off part of the red devil's mouth and fins. The second fight, the red devil attacked the piranha right away until he was dead. He must have remembered.

My red devil has some real power behind his bites. Both of the times he has bitten me resulted in blood. So when I clean the tank I put a divider in. Mine is much bigger than yours though. So u may not want to do that once it reaches full size.
