  • I don't feel as though Bush had bad intentions when invading Iraq, but he should have just left it alone and went after Bin Laden. I think Novak was right when he said Bush wanted a permenant US presence in the middle east, but I think he wanted to spread democracy there. I feel as though some good did come out of the war though, at least there are free elections in Iraq. That might just be my justification for serving and losing loved ones.

  • @LordSparkisvati He didn't as you say call out Israel, he called out Neocons and the AIPAC lobbyists. One can respect Israel and its right to Exist, and at the same time attack un-necessary wars like the war in Iraq and Middle East.

  • Taki mag? Is that thing still around?

  • This brought to mind a H. clinton quote I think is really useful these days.

Search youtube "hillary clinton sick and tired"

  • I feel very bad that Robert Novak spent his last days defending his reputation versus Bush-haters going after Scooter Libby.

  • Spot on! Thanks so much for this! :-)

  • robaert novak RIP. In my formative high school years following the work of robert novak and actually believing his work was my way out of the goverment school brainwashing and back into the familial pattern of politics of my own family but with American interest in mind.

  • There is nothing patriotic about outing a CIA agent.

  • Good video, Jack.

  • Neo-Cons have destroyed the Republican party. RIP Robert Novak.

  • Another great commentary SA!

  • Robert Novak, may he RIP.

  • independents and libertarians seem to be a bunch of indecisive loons who go with the wind - support the war one day, dont support the war the next day, support bush support obama whatever...errrr they say they have principles but they go from supporting ron paul a conservative to voting for obama a socialist...those are opposites

  • Libertarianism is split between the Ron Paul type and the Cato institute type (see Justin Raimondo at Takimag) The former took a consistent stand against the war while the latter often supported it, concerneing themselvs more strictly to economic & social concerns. Add to this the many young/dumb folks who love libertarianism because of legalized drugs/prostitution but who have no real understanding of it's deeper principles and I can see where the idea that libertarians are confused comes from.

  • Another awesome commentary.

  • Awesome Jack.

    God bless you!

  • spot on again. mr. avenger.

  • Good work.

  • its funny - novak was jewish....but anit isreal....he's was old school - he drank - got into fist fights and was well over 6 fete tall....pat b was the same way....!! fu*k the neo cons....DUMP isreal, frum , etc

  • he later converted to catholicism.

  • In a word,

    Yes.

  • I think that many of the people who are speaking up now who DIDN't speak up during the Bush years are boiling over with the run away freight train that is happening now. It's that feeling of having something stuffed down your throat. I wasn't happy about the spending or the patriot act or the TSA, but the rate of "change" has me alarmed. After only 8 months this group has out spent the last 8 years!

  • The term "iraq war"should be replaced by what it really was: INVASION of a sovereign country who had nothing to do with 911.On the contrary it enhanced and leped created a new random of terrorists.

  • Better yet, the Iraq War=Blood for oil.

  • how old are YOU...its was a "war , no oil"....! a war for ISREAL more like it....prothink dott orrgg

  • For the first year it was until 2004.

  • what does that mean....? !

  • It means that the first year of the war was about oil until it was about Defending Israel by 2004, but not explicitly until 2006.

  • ok...thx 4 reply...well - why did the PNAC pressure clinton 2 attack iraq....? why did bush want to attack iraq b4 9/11 ? oil was $40 per barrel...its b/c the neo cons HAD his ear since 1999 - and NOT all jews - but they were ALL zionists....! so it was for isreal from 2000...actually since reagan - THATS when neo cons came in , my friends

  • All of what you said is true. Clinton was pressured to attack Iraq in 1998 because of some false notion of WMD. Bush wanted to invade Iraq in 1999 because the neocons wanted to dominate the middle east. Yes, Israel was the focus since Reagan, but then again, we have to constantly kiss Israels ass.

  • '99?

  • I found an interview with then governor Bush in 1999 where he wanted to invade Iraq.

  • Link please.

  • ed2point0 EXACTLY

  • "exactly" what....? ! lol

  • And the next time a Republican is in the White House, the neocons will beat the war drum again, and again the Republican Party will dance to that beat.

This is the thing, SA. The Republican party will never again be the engine of what you call old-school conservatism or paleo-conservatism. It is time to leave the Republican party, and indeed the very label "Conservative" behind for good. Until then, all you are doing is wringing your hands beforehand, and saying "I told you so" afterwards.

  • Don't give me that "they were still mad about 9-11" crap.

Never forgive. Never forget. And I ain't talking about 9-11.

Those who disagreed with us, but respected us, are fine. If they come around, great. If they don't, oh well. Those who choose to alienate us are not worthy to lick the fecal matter from the bottom of our boots. Men like Frum can burn in the recesses of hell, for all I care. Perhaps I am just bitter and angry like they were. But at least I know to channel it at the right people

  • David Frum= statist douchebag prick. F*ck him and all his cronies.

Robert Novak, a true conservative who will be missed.

  • Rusell Kirk's probably rolling in his grave right now at what the so-called conservative movement has become. Goldwater surely is as well. I mean, even in the 80s when the conservative movement was finally gaining the momentum they wanted and had their own president, Goldwater was already sick of guys like Jerry Falwell and the Religious Right. He actually called the Republican Party shortly thereafter "kooks" and wanted nothing to do with them anymore.

  • I love how all these neo-cons are now protesting against spending at the tea party rallies. Where were they when when Ron Paul and co. were warning them of this disaster! We need a return to Paleo-conservative and more libertarian/constitutionalist principles! Thank you SA!

  • You are the voice of a true conservative, if only the neo conservatives and liberals could understand that.

  • The neo-conservatives at the top know damn well that this is true conservatism--it's the unwitting "regular" folks who bought into it that don't know that.

They still think they're conservatives, and if you try to debate some of these dullards on true conservatism, you'll get called every name in the book because they can't rebut you, so they resort to calling you a "libtard" when they are challenged.

  • Very true. I've run into that many times on the heritage foundation's channel.

  • Ahhh yes, Heritage Foundation. They've called me before, attempting to get me to send them money and the woman I talked to on the phone made it clear that they're Reagan worshipers.

They hate Goldwater, Paul, Taft--it's all about Reagan, and they won't recognize any of his obvious flaws or the fact that Bush Sr. was a neocon. She wouldn't even discuss Bush Jr.

Needless to say, they didn't get my money or my support.

  • They send me things in the mail. Survey's and such. I noticed the way the questions were worded were very skewed so I simply never returned them.

  • They send the same things to me. I not only fill them out, I write in the margins and in between the questions stating my own opinions and pointing out the questions that should be included as well as the lack of options for answering their questions. That way they either listen to my responses or ignore me at risk more losses at the polls.

  • Its most likely the later. Which is why I don't bother.

    Enjoy your thumbs up though.

  • I'm a liberal and I understand it.

  • Liberals and conservatives are not at war with each others.

It is masquerading special interest that are a problem.

  • yep, they use our natural desire to belong to a group and fight for a greater cause against us to keep us from all uniting and over throwing them.

  • You're correct.

  • I'm so embarassed now to say I'm a republican, thanks alot GW

  • It still amazes me how many people our government does not listen to

  • As one who is mostly liberal, I have to say that opposing the war had very little to do with liberal vs conservative, as there were many valid and logical reasons to oppose the war from both schools of thought.

SA I truly wish there were more Republicans/Conservatives like yourself. Sure, I would have honest disagreements, but also respect guys like you.

  • This is Bush's legacy. He has destroyed the Republican Party and discredited the conservative/libertarian movement. Now look where we are. We have elected a socialist president. Bush and his Neoconservative minions have setup the final destruction of our nation by Obama. And let me tell ya it is so sad to watch the little ship of freedom, our once grand experiment, sink to the depths of hell.

  • It was hell-bound before its maiden voyage.

  • Well there is a plus side for the utter destruction done by Bush. He has served as a VERY painful lesson and wake up call to the malevolent misguidance of the neocons, the military industrial complex, endless foreign policy entanglements and the dangers of the theocratic religious right.

I admit that the neocons fooled me and that is the first step on the road to recovery. I hope many other libertarian conservatives and constitutional moderates have also had their epiphany and time of penance.

  • Welcome back kmg501, and despite what anyone else here says, there are warmongering neocon libertarians. I've met them and they are often *worse* than your average neocon because they're exceedingly arrogant and dishonest.

It takes a big person to admit mistakes and to recognize that they've been swindled. I respect that immensely.

  • I only wish that I paid more deference to the Ron Paul's and Robert Novak's of the world. They are and had been getting it right for a long time. I have no problem with eating some humble pie and learning from the mistakes.

I truly hope that more conservative minded people who were swindled by the neocons are able to find their way home in one piece so that we can reunite and do the work that desperately needs be done before our precious American republic takes any further unrecoverable damage.

  • Personally, I'm not an "I told you so!" kind of person, just shrug it off if someone comes along who is.

I've been involved with RP's grassroots for about 2.5-3 years now, and one of the best places I've found for information/grassroots action has been ronpaulforums (.) com.

We have many former neocons there, and though we do have a few jerks as any board does, you'd be very welcome. So, consider this an official invite to check it out. :)

  • I remeber the few libertarians pundits were the ones critcizingthe Iraq war together wth the liberals, so it would be nice if you stop lumping conservatives and libertarians together. Most libertarians are conservatives but most conservatives arent libertarians

Btw Neal Boortz and Glenn Beck are neocons if that was how you came to that conclusion

  • @WSOR4025 Yeah it's looks like it's about to end. The US is a crumbling empire.

  • Excellent!
