  • he saved me.....

  • @chasedailey I could'nt agree more, thier best track for me aswell it's just a shame they never play it live.....

  • Don't blame the band for the way their songs are handled by radio stations. Besides, what one thinks is The Shit and another sounds too commercial probably keeps Brent Smith awake ALL night countin' his fuckin' money.

  • Why don't they ever play it live??

  • @debbiepelbry Ive noticed hes got some trouble hitting those notes live... this is a pretty brutal song vocally. imo

  • you morons have to realize that mainstream is pretty much what we all listen to... You obviously like shinedown or you wouldn't be listening to this song. Better yet, you obviously like sound of madness other wise you wouldnt be talking about it. Going mainstream means money.. if you dont like maintstream, listen to your neighbors shittttttty garage band, enough said... this band fucking rocks.. end of story

  • @TBONESAVAGE69 Kinda made yourself sound like a douchebag... lol

  • i like the other version better... it has sooo much feeling

  • @meandhim4u The other version? You mean this version 3:00 in?

  • @pspvampire yeah i spoke too soon when i wrote this beautiful song

  • I love the middle part...where his voice just goes everywhere. It's beautiful.... :D I keep replaying that part.

  • Remember that the first two albums were made while brent was on coke, now I consider us and them(2) to have the perfect music, but leave a whisper(1) to have more of a story to the songs(yer majesty, this, fake and heroes excepted) while sound of madness truly put story into the songs, second chance was about them getting another record deal, if you only knew was about brent's coke addiction, cyanide suicide was about a friend of theirs that died of cocaine, call me is agreed by Brent to be the

  • Mainstream means money. The record company dictates the direction a band takes. It's about the moolah folks. Sounds of Madness has some good tunes going for it.

  • Fucking love this song.

  • This is basically Shinedown's own Stairway to Heaven kind of song. Not nearly as eternal, but still a good fuckin song.

  • These guys making a mainstream album could be a good thing. This means they have more money and have the popularity they wanted. We can all cross our fingers and hope for Brett Smith to think up some really creative stuff now.

  • sound hear like grunge from Seattle \m/

  • Best song from this band

  • DIVINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Zeppelin much? This really seems like a Zeppelin song... and has a riff and lyrics to compliment it.

Sound of Madness was more mainstream, however, but I still loved it. And even though it was mainstream, they didn't make it only to be mainstream as others have, and it is very different from most rock. They didn't make the lyrics simpler or push to make it catchier but less emotional. The point is they didn't write this to be mainstream and make a lot of money, it's what they love to do.

  • I hope that their next album will come closer to Leave a Whisper, but it wont be the same because of Jasin and Brad being gone. I totally agree that Sound of Madness is definitely much more mainstream and I feel that they have gone down a little bit from what they were.

  • I really can't hate on someone for going mainstream, you've got a talent, use it to live... make what you can in life while you can... shinedown is the shit... brent smith is one of the best vocalists to hit the rock genre for a long time... no one can deny that even if they don't like shinedown. Going main stream just means yea i'm going to make money, can't hate someone for doing that... its what is needed to live... so if you can make awesome music and make a damn good living off it, why not?

  • Fly From the Inside was in a video game I played a few years ago... I looked them up and the rest is history... The guys rock...

  • i found out about shinedown through sound of madness but i have to say that i like us and them more. all in all, they have some great music.

  • All of Shinedown's albums are spectacular and unique and they cant be pitted against each other.

  • us and them was the best !!!

then leave a whisper, although leave a whisper has a few AMAZING songs

and the sound of madness doesn't even come close but still not bad

  • Leave A Whisper was the best Shinedown album I found, with The Sound of Madness not far behind. Us and Them wasn't quite up to par, but it did have some great songs, such as this one. :D

  • epic.

  • i love this song

  • Love this song, very proggy in the middle section

  • understand that bands these days have to have a mainstream sound if they're going to get any recognition. Sure Shinedown has always been an amazing band, but may not have been as popular as they could have... Just because the fact that if it doesn't "sound good" people wont listen to it regardless of the inclination of the lyrics. It's up to the the people who enjoy the music to understand the music.

  • Lady So Divine = LSD

  • Solo = BEAST!!!

  • Shinedown needs to make more songs like this. 7 plus minutes, how uncommon for a modern band.

  • I just heard this song but I love it already :) Shinedown FTW!!!! <3

  • I don't understand, surely the aim of a band is to hit mainstream and make it big?

What your suggesting is that Shinedown doesn't go mainstream and forever just wonder's what it would be like to make it big?

If you think Shinedown are turning mainstream, then compare them to 30 Seconds To Mars. I used to like them, but they changed way to much to make it big. At least Shinedown don't have to change their image and music to make it to the top.

  • this was the real shit, great stuff on Leave A Whisper And Us And Them. I Didnt Like The Sound Of Madness, Too Mainstream Sounding, had a mere few good songs, but does anyone else agree with me that them having 5 fuckin singles off The Sound Of Madness that their milking it for all that its worth? or maybe its just cause im tired of hearing stuff off that damn album lol.

  • @hotguy6313. I really like Sounds of Madness but it doesn't come close to their first two albums in my opinion. I don't think its milking it as more of they are proud of their work. Like you said, this album is a lot more mainstream, this album made them mainstream, made Shinedown a household name. I would proudly work it for all its worth. Half the album deserves a single, much like their first two albums. All in my opinions

  • @hotguy6313 I think quite honestly this was Shinedown's "Dark Album" like a lot of bands do like Van Halen's "Fair Warning" I love Us and Them but my favorite tho is still Sound of Madness it was more of the type of album that grabs you from the first song and then just gets more in depth song after song

  • @SixxPM100 it's better dark!

  • @hotguy6313 They are absolutley milking it....Im 49 and i have never seen a band milk an album this long... Whats it been 2 yrs now? I love the album... But we need some new music. from Shinedown..

Zeppelins first 4 lp's were put out in 3 yrs.. but that type of music was new and Of course everything now a days is recycled Rock and Roll.

    We still need it!

  • @tmpc45 the average now days is an album every two years, its a trend now. i like it better that way because if you make an album a year, than (most of the time)your just throwing it together. than theres touring to consider theres just not enough time.

for example a rap artist can make 2 records and sometimes more a year. but they also just throw the record together and usually they have no instruments to consider. and the finish product usually is unoriginal and sucks!!!

  • @hotguy6313 i like the mainstream stuff of them the most. Matter of tastes.

  • @hotguy6313 Really? I actually thought Sound of Madness was a fantastic album! It still had Shinedown's signature sound and characteristics, but was much more complex with the melodies and incorporating string and orchestral sounds. I think it's gonna be personal preference however lol. Out of the old albums, did you prefer "Us and Them" or "Leave a Whisper" more?

  • @ibanezshredder3495 Us and Them by far bad ass album

  • @ibanezshredder3495 I actually kinda like Us and Them more than Leave a Whisper. I'm weird because my favorite record of their's is Us and Them. I think it was varying and had a kind of medieval and Zeppelin theme and their wasn't really a single song on the record that I feel didn't fulfill its own purpose, each one is all it could have been, and I love the lower tempo and low pitch (lots of riffs appear to mainly compromise on the top strings, most in Drop D) that compliment the record.

  • @hotguy6313 shit the sound of madness was their best album but dont get me wrong their first two albums kick ass i think its just we are all fuckin ready for a new album from them

  • @hotguy6313 haha thats nothing compared to the EIGHT singles from Nickelback's "Dark Horse"! Now thats milking it xD

  • wow this music is very inspirational and i like shinedown's music a lot because there songs have a meaning and i enjoying listing to them i love the solo to [=

  • 2:46 to 5:20 is just cool as hell

  • Shinedown are awesome. their new stuff isnt bad but i prefer the older albums. this song is good.

they are a real good band but i miss their old work :( still, cant complain. it could have been worse lol :)

  • @NJX101 dude thank u somebody agrees with me finally.

  • Shinedown should re-release this

  • i agree the first two albums were the best

  • yesssss i love them i love the last one too but its just not the same as the old stuff.

  • wish you could find more of Shinedown's stuff on youtube. It's all REALLY good, but WMG won't let you upload it. Not fair... =\

glad you were able to get this song up though. It kicks ass!!!

  • Nice vid

  • 2.45>5.30 is the best

  • cant wait till there next album betcha itll be evan better than sound of madneess and that was wicked! whos with me

  • I liked the first two albums over sounds of madness actually. All are great albums. Shinedown became mainstream with this album and i am wondering how they will top it.

  • Hey they may have hit mainstream but they will pull through have some faith these guys put on the best live show I have ever seen and their next album will kick just as much ass as the last 3

  • @czwrestler I like The Sound of Madness more than the first two honestly. The first two got boring after listening to them a few times; The Sound of Madness, however, I can listen to over and over again easily without getting bored.

I love all the albums though, of course. Shinedown in general is one of the best.

  • @czwrestler yeah it was all about Us and Them and Leave a Whisper

thats where all their good stuff is.

the only 3 songs i like on Sound of Madness are Crow and Butterfly, What a Shame, and Second Chance

Other than that...i could deal without the rest of the album. But they dont play the ones i like except second chance. I've only heard crow and butterfly one time when i was travelling. Their older stuff needs more publicity in my opinion.

  • @geta211 Totally agree with ya man I loved SoM and with the new line-up they seem solid and Eric writing the music for SoM made it all fit it is going to be a great album no doubt about it man

  • @geta211 Agreed man. Imo, even as a band who has reached mainstream success, they still have not disappointed, and I'm sure they'll still be awesome with a new album. Shinedown all the way in my book. :)

  • @geta211 Do you know when the new will be coming out?

  • @DeluxeTwinkies New Shinedown single comes out within the next month or so, you can follow Brent on Twitter @TheBrentSmith.

  • no lyrics?

  • @GhostRocker13

    lyrics are in the description

  • @GhostRocker13, the lyrics are in the info part

  • why would you remove a song from the best band on earth?

  • I love this song

  • There is, it only includes the bridge of the song though.

  • Fantastic bridge!

  • the instrumental part in the middle of the song makes me fell soooo nice x) awesome!

  • LOL spelt.

  • Comment removed

  • this is shinedowns best song ever. I don't even consider it shinedown. The instrumental part in the middle of this song reminds me of Led Zeppelin. THIS SONG IS THEIR BEST!

  • exactly!!! i've been telling people this for years and no one listens to me!!!!!

  • there is a music video to this song

  • where?

  • i disagree, but its one of their best. i like shed some light.

  • that is a long guitar solo

  • one by metalica is like 7 or 8 min long

  • Thick as a brick was like 42 minutes as well. Think Pink Floyd had one up that ways. I think Atom Heart Mother was long, but I watched a video a while back of a jam session by Pink Floyd that was like 50 minutes of one song.

  • What song would that be mark? Only one I know of thats long is poet and the pendulum, then ghost love score, 13 and 10 mins repsectivly

Also, song sounds good shinedown is great

  • Avenged sevenfold.... cant remember the name of the song, heaven something lol, was like 7 minutes long too

  • A little piece of heaven

  • "A Little Piece of Heaven"

  • I like it here. Thanks for finally letting me listen to shinedown on youtube.

  • this is there longest song ever i mean most were like 4:00 or maybe 5:00 but never about 7:00 thatz crazy

  • Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames is about 7 minutes too....well the one on my ipod is

  • he was referring to Shinedown. Switched up There and Their.

Either way both are greats songs, and ironically on my mp3 too (too poor for ipod)

  • I know, shinedown rox :D. I'm just saying that there are alot of other 7minute or more songs :P

  • There are bands like Dream Theater that have songs that are like 23 minutes long.

  • I know a song that was about 14 minutes

  • there was a song by Dream Theater, I think it was during a concert, that was around 45 min long.

  • Great Shinedown Song.

  • awesome song, i'm seeing shinedown june 18th

  • this is a really good song by shinedown
