  • memories ! I had that exact car back in 89. I was young and dumb and wound up selling it because of all the trouble aka tickets i was getting with it as in around 60 tickets in 2 years lol. ( not to worry, the lawyers got he money not the arseholes writing me tickets every time they saw my car); ) Biggest mistake i ever made was selling that car! It was one bad MoFo back in the day and still is for the most part. Broke a LOT of Mustang GT's hearts with that car and a lot of Corvettes to! nice !

  • Just got a 89 Trans am redid the paint and now I want to drop a V6 turbo any one think this is a good idea? I love these cars its all I buy!!!!!

  • id love to get one of these to sit with my 02 z28

  • Man..if only i lived in america...i could get hold of one these hot american cars..i can only dream for now...

  • nice ride

  • ohhh boy i want a 89 anniversary soooooo bad, i have two 84 anniversarys wooooo

  • OMG! i bet you have so much fun driving this i would!

  • that thing is FAST!

  • I have a Honda, and STILL I would LOVE one of these babies

  • simply gorgeous man.. this car was a legend with us teenagers in the 90s who had 5.0s, irocs, and Ta's.. Way before i ever modded my mustang one of these pulled up on me at a light, and flat out bitch slapped me... i would love to own one of these RARE birds today, so nice... i think only 1500 of them were made

  • Well automatic is the best and only way to keep the power flowing when it comes to a turbo car. These cars run the fastest just by putting them in drive and going down the track. With a manual everytime you push the clutch in to shift you loose all the boost you just built. They were actually thinking about making a few hundred stick shift TTA's but they realised the automatic was faster in the long run.

  • if only gm made their 80s cars with an optional stick shift

  • I have an 87 GTA non-turbo I wana sell dirt cheap. =) Still Very fast! =)

  • In '89 one of the magazines did a test of a turbo T/A and a Corvette. They admitted they expected the T/A to beat the Corvette in the 1/4 mile. The Corvette ran a 14.1, then the Trans Am ran 13.1. Bone stock car.

I always wanted one of these, but they are just too high. I could have bought a 12,000mile car for $17,000 a couple of years ago from a guy I know. The car had never spent the night outside or been rained on since it was sold new. It still looked like it did when I saw it new.

  • That's a nice looking TTA. I like how yours doesn't have the pace car decal on the doors, yet it retains the subtle Indy emblems.

I really want a TTA, though I'd want one without T tops for structural integrity. Heck I'd even consider trading my modded T type for a nice TTA.

  • if im not mistaken,, when you bought these from the factory, the Decal kits came with the car, that way you would put them on if you wanted,, but i agree,, i wouldnt put em on either,, but ii sure would save them :)

  • the best v6 bird ever made.

  • with the exception of maybe the firehawks, I think that this is the fastest factory firebird ever! I want one!!!

  • dude my dad had that car and when it says 140mph trust me it does and it's fun

  • damn v6

  • grand nationals are v6 and these turbo trans ams were the last cars they put that engine in and it was also faster than the vette that year thats why they didnt do it again, the vette is suppose to be gm top car

  • why does the vette get all the fun?

  • who knows. if they had kept the trams am in production pontiac would have not got chopped like they did "my opinion". notice that you dont see many of those gto's or g 8s in the streets. is because its just not the same.

  • Hey JayCee111, I had one of these back in 1993. My car had 8,400 original miles and was virtually a new car. I bought the car for a measly $15,700. The previous owner took off the rare Trans Am labeled spark plug wires and decals were still in the box. It is one of the cars that I have owned that I missed the most! It was a bullet even on it's stock Goodyear VR50s. I see the PA plates. I am also in PA in Philadelphia. Best of luck with it!

  • My uncle is missing some of the emblems, and needs a new paint job and exhaust. but these cars sound amazing

  • You are one luckyyyyy man!!!!

  • I think the 89 TTA was the best of the 3rd Gen birds. Think it would hold its own against any of the other gen cars.

  • was one of the fastest. Bone stock I spank newer T/A's all the time :)

  • Meh, I like a tall glass of iced soda after a DREAM like that, how's about you lol....? ;)

  • its the fastest production trans am ever built... soooo...

  • this would keep up with an audi rs4...thats f*cking impressive.

  • wow nice car .. m in love with these trans since i was smal .. thou i found 1 but it is in usa n thas the #7 indy pace pace car n costs arround 17 k with 32000 original miles on it .. but unfortunately i live in canada :( and dunno how to import that car over here n wat wud it cost me then .. any 1 here who can help ?

  • Sweet!, Philly. You got it lookin tight!

Sounds good. I still run the stock exhaust too (well from 3' downpipe back), I never warmed up to any of the after market mufflers sound on a TTA. The Gale Banks system sounded good on my 305 tpi GTA though.

    sverble

  • Absolutely beautiful TTA! I'll be joining you in TTA ownership in Summer 2008. I believe these cars will skyrocket in value over the next several years.

  • thanks! yes they keep climbing and climbing in price. I think once they hit the 20 year mark that will make them jump as well. She's only got 30K on the clock so I'm trying to enjoy the car and keep the miles low! :)

  • How much are you willing to spend this summer?

    BW

  • Probably $12K. I want a nice driver with under 50,000 miles.

  • In 1999 i purchased a t-top leather with 48K for 11,500. I think i got a real good deal, till i found another TTA with 8k for 15,000 a few years later. They are addictive!

Hopefully you can find the one you want.

    Good luck :)

    BW

  • Bandit bandit, Congrats in seeing the geatest movie of all fucking time!!!!shame on you parents on not showing you that movie before age 7

  • Yeah, im 16 and i saw smoky and the bandit and i think im in love, heh i wanna look at getting me one of these <3 <3

  • The TTA is the best muscle car of the late 80's speed and the body to do it with! :)

  • Nice Shape......good 2 see someone with a trans am not reving the living hell out of it....

  • Thanks! I just wanted to rev it a little so people could hear a stock exhaust system on a stock TTA. :)

  • a very nice car. Met one up and personal at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum. A friend of mine has one as well...although not as in good condition as this...still to have a v6, fuel efficient, 303HP muscle machine like the TTA is something i truly envy! Wonder who has that one off TTA convertible? However i love my GTA...at least it's a piece of history as well...

  • thanks for the compliments! The TTA is an amazing muscle car! I drop on the highway with it and was getting 27mpg with the AC on! Can't beat that out of a car that went 13.0 from the dealer! They run really great and get killer fuel milage as long as you keep your foot out of it! There was 3 TTA verts they say. One is in PA. Those are the vids I have of it and the other is in GA.

  • My frend had the first wrecked gta took forever to get a front end.was a nice comfie seat in the garge for a long time and the frown on his face lasted just as long.

  • its louder then my gta

  • well it's not a GTA it's a TTA!

  • nicee car

  • that right there is the quickest Trans am GM ever built. 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. i shouldnt say its the quickest cause the 1992 Firebird Formula Firehawk does 0-60 in 4.6 but it has a 345hp V-8.

  • yeah, but isnt the performance aspect of the formula firehawk built by a company called SLP motoring or something?

  • yea its SLP Performance. slp stands for Street Legal Performance. they added the extra goodies but you could still order one through your pontiac dealer.

  • I love how that generation then and the generation now can share the 231. I wish mine sounded THAT good! Looks great!

Check out my vids sometimes, I've got a supercharged Lumina w/ the Pontiac GP-GTP 231 in it.

  • Man get rid of all the white overspray under the rear of the car. TTA1294

  • White overspray?? That's how it came from the factory. They just shot undercoat in areas that needed it. Other then that it was white like the car. Maybe someone undercoated the bottom of your entire car if it's all black under there. My car is 100% virgin. Original paint and body on it.

  • #396 Nice to meet you. #1446 (Hardtop Leather Interior) in Houston Texas. I envy the condition of your TTA brother!

  • Thanks! I got lucky and the other owners kept the car real clean for me! :) I want a hardtop! I passed on 2 of them and I'm kicking my self for it!

  • That's thru the original stock exhaust too!

  • Didn't the T/A get a Poncho-tuned GSX? Well, at least you can hear the Poncho tuning of the cam and heads as the PCM tries to sort out the idle!

GM should keep with their Pontiac/Buick/Chev, etc. seperate from the other divisions...Pontiac pwns!

  • The turbo Trans AM was done by PAS in Van Nuys, CA. They were built as a Trans AM GTA SE from the factory. Then shipped to PAS who put the turbo six in them. PAS did all the tuning. That was with the stock smog chip. They had a mild cam but different heads as the Grand National heads would not fit between the shock towers. They also did SS headers on them and the intercooler was a GNX style. Same size as a stock GN Intercooler just more fins per square inch. But PAS did all the tunning to them.

  • Cool!! I must have been really tired when I posted...GSX...arghh. I'm going to read up on the PAS stuff now!

  • Yep Buick Grand National motor. The Buick V6 231 SFI turbo! With better goodies. Dont have that GTA grumble :)

  • @JayCee111 is it a 3.8

  • @JayCee111 I agree, it's a powerful car and beautiful but it doesn't have the v8 roar. Must be a bitch and a half to work on that motor.

  • its actually turbo??

  • Yes! V6 Grand National engine. Pontiac changed the heads to make the engine fit in the F body but it's all stock. Single exhaust back into the muffler then 2 outputs to the 4 exhaust tips special to the TTA and only on the TTA. Never on any other F body! Was a special car from Pontiac that's for sure!
