The old course was better...When you could fly over the hump into turn one..And then just shoot up to the bridge...Now it sucks

The best i can remember is that it was done to stay FIA certified. Been along time ago but i pretty sure thats the main reason they did it. Agree, it sucks compared to how it was before.

Ah ok, the FIA certainly seems to be a pretty big barrier to motorsport in a lot of ways, I guess the main straight was either too long or certain sections couldn''t have enough runoff.

If someone can confirm this it would help. I think it was a deal where they did it to add length to the track to stay certified. It might have been on one of the broadcast of the historics were i heard it. It was the FIA who made Le Mans put the chicanes on the mulsanne. Keep the one at the kink for safety but lose the first one, let them stretch their legs!
