For all of you wondering , the reason why it doesnt have an HD setting is because it wasn't compressed to be fitted in HD , and even if it WAS , it wouldnt work because this was in 2007 which means YOUTUBE NEVER HAD HD SETTINGS BACK THEN
This video is super: 5 stars! I'm happy to see this result with this camera. I have this camera too and was wondering which quality do you choose when you did the rendering? I use Vegas and noticed that with .avi, .mp4, etc. I have a losing of quality... any suggestion?
u didnt upload this at full quality first of all its not capable of being hd and its not great resolution very pixelated...try putting bit rate at 15,000 that helped me alot
The hv20 has better hd quality than the hg10. But at the same time it uses annoying dv tapes that you need a firewire ect. to convert to your computer. The hg10 is better rounded. Despite being lower on the hd scale it has a harddisk that cna hold up to five hours of best quality video.
it might hold 5 hours, but it also takes +/- 5 hours to dump the footage, it's hard to beat being able to just swap tapes and be ready to roll... that said the hf 10/11 has a nice mix of both, it has internal flash and a flash slot, so say you do fill up the internal you can just swap in a fresh card and go.
Can you give-me a tip ? I was wondering if the HG10 works good with Mac . I don't have Final cut but I do have Ivideo 8 and Ivideo 4 which I think it's better than Ivide8 to edit my movies .
if you're looking for higher resolution HG10 videos search on vimeodotcom for 'HG10'...there you'll be able to view in HD and download some source videos which are beeter quality than the posted videos.
Fellow YouTubers, My HG 10 came with a Corel Guide Menu, Ulead DVD Movie Factory SE-DVD Movie Writer SE. How could I upload my movies to YouTube? Do I need a special software? I apologize for my lack of knowledge. Thank you for your assistance.
hey does anyone know how this would compare with the canon GL2. i know the GL2 is professional but it isnt HD. just wondering if anyone knows which one i should buy.
What editing program do you use with ur HG10? because i have one and as yet am not able to edit footage from it, unless it's with that useless program provided haha
both final cut pro and imovie `08 are capable of handling the HG10. i'm not sure what works in the pc world... check out the links in the about section above for some good links
This is probably the best footage I've seen of the HG10 on YouTube. I'm still undecided if I should go with an HG10 or an HV20. I'm torn apart with the video clarity of the HV20 and the convenience of the HG10.
So far, it seems that the HG10 has a darker picture compared to the HV20. It may be just the way it was uploaded on Youtube or it may have something to do with the editing software used.
Another thing that I'm thinking of is it may have something to do with the adapters being attached on the camcorder.
It would be nice to see as close to an "apple to apple" comparison between the HG10 and the HV20 with regards to video clarity (meaning no filters, adapters, same editing software, and using the same way it was uploaded on Youtube).
okay, i am about to buy a camcorder, and i have it narrowed down to the HV20 or HG10. (I'm a canon man) The HG10 is appealing because the HardDrive elimantes miniDV tapes, but i am worried about the new AVCHD codec taht it uses. I have heard that this will make it un-editable on most editing software. I am a film student in college and have free access to Final Cut Pro 6, but will i be able to edit material from this camera on it? Also, what about on Windows Movie Maker?
cool, cool! if that camera was out where i live id buy it but... Any idea of what the video quality is like compared to the Canon HV20 or the Sony HDR SR7? great vid!
I'm not familiar with the SR7, but the HG10 is really really close to the HV20, which IMO has the best image:price ratio out there. Check out dvinfo linked in the description, they have a lot of sample footage from all kinds of cams, that's where i post up most of my stuff, and they are the ones that let me get ahold of the HG10.
Nice quality but for a $1000 price tag I wouldn't buy it
Someone suggest something cheaper and higher quality

Can you give-me a tip ? I was wondering if the HG10 works good with Mac . I don't have Final cut but I do have Ivideo 8 and Ivideo 4 which I think it's better than Ivide8 to edit my movies .

it's works great with imovie 08

Thanks...
I just find out. If you have Imovie8 or even final cut , you must to have a intel processor otherwise it will not recognize the AVCHD file .

i know it can record at 24fps (frames per second) but can it record at higher frame rates? Help Please!
Budokaiman1 4 years ago
no, that is the highest FPS in the 1080P settings... my guess you can record with a higher FPS on a lover detail level....
Quagmire88 4 years ago
it can film in 24fps, 30fps, and 60fps i think.

Well, I decided to get an HG10.
I have windows XP home edition with a Dell Pentium 4 3.0 GHz and 1.0 GB of RAM.
When I edit the videos with the provided software ( Ulead Moviemaker 5.6 Launcher), I get delayed sound on some clips.

I have a hv20. It is simply the best. Don't fool with the hg10. Many pros use the hv20 for eng's, documentaries, even indie films.
