Lovebirds & Budgie Enjoy Snack Time

@Dally Tsuka I have a love bird and he doesn't get out much but he is pretty quiet and kind unless he feels a sense of threat from a bigger creature..he is kind to the cats and dog who are afraid of him. He is a kind bird all alone in his cage and will come right up to your face and stare at you unless you talk to him.

you should separate them. I gave my lovebird to a friend who already had budgies, and everything was ok until she let them eat together - the lovebird killed one of her budgies. I am not saying this will happen with your birds, but I think you should separate them at least while they eat, just to be safe.

people say that love birs will kill a budgie but its acc fact that ENGLISH budgies which are bigger would more likly kill 2 to 3 love bird on its own than 3 lovebird kill a budgie

this is untrue for the most part. lovebirds are known to even kill cockatiels, which are twice the size of them. theyre very aggressive birds and have a strong beak

you should try to cut a piece of the treat off for the budgie and feed it to him in a different place cause lovebirds and very territorial and protective over their food.

It's true--and the budgie has a soft beak, which is no match for the lovebirds' hard beak, so the budgie will usually back down. They are all three very cute birds!

I have a roseicollis lovebird as well,.. but mine was scared of the millet the first time I gave it to him. Now he loves it.

he also likes my boyfriend more than me. When I get attention from my boyfriend or when I get too close to him, the bird bites at me. He's really sweet when he's alone with me though.

Millet to birds is like catnip to cats lol Lovebirds are so teritorial! xD Well I know mine are LOL Funny thing, I have just like that. My lutino is a female (nana- short got banana lol) and my original male (Falco- I let my bro name him and since he's always wanted a falcoln lol) So yeah..they've had tons of babies xD

i have a 14yr old peach faced love bird & a 2yr old keet... they are staying in the same hugee cage together during the day and their own smaller cages for bedtime... is this ok for them? they get along well but do have little arguments once in a while... thankss

Its should be fine if you keep them supervised. I let my budgie and lovie play in the same cage for a few hours every now and then, but only supervised. Budgies are really cheeky and stand up for themselves. They wont let another bird run it over them thats why they get on with most species. It would be a totally different story if you were letting him stay in a cage with two lovies tho. This is a big NO NO. The two lovies would end up killing the budgie. They are very aggressive when paired.

yea it wasnt really a planned pairing... when i went off to college i didnt want to move my lovebird around since at the time he was about 10yrs old so i got the parakeet. then while home on breaks, my parents decided to put the two together. They seem to do well, like i said together in a larger cage during the day, and separated at night. So after being together for weeks at a time i felt bad bringing the keet to college so i left them together. They get lots of supervison tho....thanks!!!

I had a parakeet and a lovebird in the same cage for several years. They were both females and got along great - even preened each other's feathers all the time. Unfortunately the parakeet passed away. I'm not sure why, she was about 7yrs old. The lovebird was sad and bitter after that but now shes living with a new lovebird :)

They are beautiful, I have two lovebirds and a budgie also. One of the lovebirds and the budgie are bonded and the other lovebird is pairbonded to me, he thinks he is human, has not use for birds.

noo, either the lovebird or budgie will eventually attack the other. In my case its the lovebird is aggressive one they have to be watched so closely when together and never alone!

They sure can! Walmart usually has millet, but you can probably get some cheaper at a farm store. Also a pet shop would have millet as well.
