@AXL398 - Haha. Not really. On the Xbox 360 version, I actually kept my console on for over 250 hours straight so I could level up to Lv. 99, and I'm pretty sure that I had over 4,000 HP at that point. I was also dealing 999 damage to pretty much everything with my Muramasa. XD
@UnholyChicken - In the Saturn version, it automatically works this way. The only ways to stop it are to run into something or change forms. In the PlayStation version, you can still extend it, but it eats up a lot more MP as you do. The trick is to perform the motion to do the move, then - while still doing the Wing Smash - do the motion again and again and again. I can usually extend it two or three times without much trouble, but it's kinda tricky to steer.
@WyattEpp - It's not on the OST, because the OST is based around the original version of the game. The Saturn version's added tracks aren't on any OST. As for knowing the name of the song, most hardcore Castlevania fans will recognize variations of certain high-profile tracks.
Also, I'm not sure if she composed this one or not.
@kubevubin Yeah, that I knew. I recognise the genes of Castlevania in this song, but I was hoping there was an actual track title to go with the mp3 that's been floating around the internet since forever lest it never have a proper tag. Thanks for the response, though; I'll do some more digging.
@WyattEpp - I know that Castlevania Dungeon has an MP3 of it. Also, I believe that this version of Beginning is on disc six of that massive Castlevania music collection that was released in Japan. I'll send you a link to the track listing if I can find it.
Well, I can understand why they didn't make the attack any different. I mean, why bother if there's only one spear-type weapon? Still, it would've been nice to see more effort put into it.
Yes, the Alucard Speak is exclusive to this version. Also, I realize that the Twilight Cloak isn't exclusive to this version, but I was pointing out the fact that it doesn't have proper transparency.
The Saturn version's Wing Smash doesn't end until you change forms or hit a wall. I've heard that you can extend it in the PlayStation version by doing the Wing Smash command over and over again, but most people seem to have trouble doing it consistently.
Amazing...that's a long wing smash in the normal version that move is really short,I played this game ten years ago and I feel like playing it again I'll probably just buy it in the playstation store it only costs $9.99...
Yeah, the extended Wing Smash is awesome. It actually kinda surprises me that more people don't use the Saturn version for speed runs. I mean, between that and the Godspeed Boots, Alucard's so much faster in this version.
you are right!!! i like iga, he makes great castlevania games and yet he did not finish SOTN, i wanted to play the underground garden, i only seen it on youtube. thanks for posting this lost level.
p.s. i heard there is going to be a castlevania on the ps3 and xbox 360, i think there was a teaser trailer. i hope this is a good 3d castlevania game.
Yeah, actually, I was just watching the same teaser trailer, so it's funny that you mentioned it.
Anyway, Iga doesn't like the direction that was taken with the Saturn-exclusive areas, and I don't necessarily feel that he should have to. Problem is, he certainly hasn't tried to do anything better.
Let's see...for the PSP version, he changed the voice acting when it didn't need changing, instead of developing a single level to make the trap door at the beginning NOT be pointless. Wow.
Oh, and - amusingly - a playable version of Maria was obviously a good enough idea in the Saturn version that Iga saw fit to rip it off. Sadly, his execution with the idea wasn't so great.
so it's not in the psp version? why would konami not put that in the psp version? i thought that they were putting in stuff that was not in the playstation version.
Because Iga's a douche and fails to acknowledge the fact that certain aspects of the Saturn version are vastly superior to aspects of the PlayStation version. Yes, I appreciate the fact that he brings us new Castlevania games now and then, but I hate the fact that he won't truly finish the one game that really needs to be finished. And yes, the Saturn version is the closest one to being finished, since it actually contains an Underground Garden level. Why doesn't Iga make his own version of it?
Yeah, it's referred to as the Sprite. I really only use it because I prefer the color green to the color blue. There's really no other difference, aside from the Sprite being able to sing if you have the Lyric Card on while Alucard's sitting in a chair.
And I'll eventually be posting a full video walkthrough of the game, for the record.
It's been a while since I tried it, but I'm almost positive that you can do it. This is the only version that I've played so extensively, so I'm pretty sure that I've done it multiple times in this version. I just don't resort to glitches often.
I can understand Igarashi wasn't a big fan of these tacked on levels, but I still think it would have been worthwhile to at least include them in the updated PSP port. They took the time to redub the game itself. It would have been nice for the fans who played through it on PSX to see the extras the Saturn version recieved. Admittedly they're nothing overly spectacular, but some additional content is still better than nothing.
I agree. I mean, really, if Iga wasn't willing to take the time to at least create his rendition of the Underground Garden, then he should've at least included the level from the Saturn version. He just tried to make it more difficult to see the incomplete version in the PSP version, but people still found a way in.
Considering how highly people hold SotN, it's a shame that Iga doesn't show more respect for the game by completing it.
Yeah. It's detailed in the video's description. It's probably the best of the exclusive weapons, given how powerful it can be with its QCF attack, which is similar to that of the Rapier.
Over 1,000 HP! That's dedication.

Hey I didn't know you can maintain the wing smash like that. I thought it was a distance limited. How do you do it for so long?

So do we know the title of the song? I assume the composer is still Yamane Michiru, but this isn't on the OST...

What a great game. The only flaw is the game is mindblowingly easy.

How is that possible? That Wing Smash(bat's spell) lasted too much. ¿How? any button holding?

please Tell me, im playing in a emulator of sega saturn.

I can't remember where it is right off hand. You can't miss it if you play through the exclusive areas, though.
kubevubin 2 years ago
Where did you find that emulator?; please let me know, or write to me
pegaso24 2 years ago
I don't capture footage with emulators anymore. This is a legal copy of the game, played on a legitimate console.
