Wow..awesome, beautiful, amazing. I'm actually editing a little cinematography project myself. I shot all the footage back home over the summer in Romania, and it's mostly a nature reel. That's my style.
You have a really nice eye for interesting objects and locations. And that camera takes gorgeous pictures, I envy you for being able to shoot with that for your reel! I'd love to see more camera movement though, everything you've presented looks great so I'm sure you could handle that too and it would really give some variety to your reel! best of luck to you :]
For all people hoping to make cinematography reels with this type of quality, the Canon T2i matches the quality, and is only about $900. There are definitely things about the 5DII that make it better, but just for those wanting to save up.
Wow and you call yourself a DP. It seems to me that you dont even have to much knowledge in how the film industry works and espcially in the camera deparment. Taking a Prosumer DSLR that has many problems with already and shooting random house hold and ever day things that you see in your life doesnt make you a DP. Rack focus, static stills, and pans arent anything special either. Good luck trying to get hire with that type of reel.
You are absolutely right. This reel is over 2 years old and since that time i have worked really hard to live up to the title of a DP and done lots of work exclusively with the 5D and would love for you to see my work now and get your opinion. I tried posting a few links but it appears that linking within comments isn't allowed. go to digitalvideoarts on YouTube to see some of my latest work. I apologize if I have offended you. I will look at your work and learn.

There is a lot of good shot's here. All very clean and well put together.
I do have a suggestion. Try and pull out and go wider more. 90% of the shots are inserts or establishing shots. And don't get me wrong they do look good. But show off your abilities and light a room and shoot it wide. Or even shoot day for night. You have a good reel, just pointers to help make it great.
@gkmitt I agree. I tend to shoot tighter shots for some reason. I am actually pretty new to cinematography. I will take your advise to heart and learn to embrace the wide angles.
I have also thought of shooting my next project on a Canon or Nikon DSLR.Especially since they have reached the 24 megapixel level.Tell me what do you record to.Since a SD card would be used up in no time.Or do you shoot 30 secs worth of footage then download to a external harddrive wipe and get another 30 secs?
I'm still new to this.I'm interested because no HD camera has 24 megs.
amazing work, how long have you been shooting film, i am totally new and would love to be able to shoot this good! i have just bought a 5dmk2 and have lots of lenses but don't know where to start. you have taken everyday scenes and made them special....well done!
Thank you very much for your kind words. The 5DII is an amazing piece of equipment, even with its serious technical limitations. Just work with it and let the magic flow.

@percussionchica101 Yeah, I agree. You can get also get a t3i now, which is basically a t2i with a swivel viewfinder, very helpful.

Some cool shots, but you were definitely in auto mode when you blew out the candle. Do you always let the camera decide for you?

there are some cool textures and lighting but most of the shots are extreme close ups with short dof or rack focus

I use the 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 28-300 f/3.5-5.6 IS L, and 70-200 f/2.8 IS L II primarily. There may be some 85mm f/1.2 in there some too.
