@madasmorning Shut the fuck up. I hate that everyone on YouTube does this, they comment on live performances talking shit about the other band members for no reason. Elliott multitracked his voice on the recording... the bass player does the backup vocals live. There is nothing wrong with his voice, suck a dick.
@Amulius It was in the arena. I had to lay down on several handicapped chairs, with me facing up to the ceiling. I'd undiagnosed Hypothyroidism. Couldn't walk, stand, sit, etc. This is the first time I'm actually "seeing" Elliott's performance from Bumbershoot 2000. This mix is much better than what I heard in the arena during the show.
im jonsing, i love the dr orderd drinks line, to me, and i repeat its my interpretation, hes jonesing, looking to score, citys dry, drinks to take away being dope sick always make u feel worse
Yeah, he probably wouldn't spell his own name wrong, but his real name was Steven Paul Smith. He actually went by Elliot with one "T" all through late highschool and college, he only went by Elliott once he started regularly putting out albums through Heatmiser n' whatnot, so the name evidence really isn't anything. Honestly, he was really fucked up with depression and stuff, so if he's really feeling down, he's not going to take off his shirt like a regular suicide.
i dont know if he reaaly meant it but elliott did say exactly this
"I think that record gave me a reputation for being a really dark, depressed person but I think I'm just about as happy as all the other people I know."
Yes, elliott also said he didn't need to be in a mental hospital because he wasn't suicdial, and yet he had a habit of walking down the subway tracks at night alone.
People don't generally go in public and start shouting "yeh, I wanna die".
The cop that filled out the police report later admitted that the spelling of "Elliot" on the post-it note, was a typo on his behalf, and that it actually read "Elliott" if that means anything.
I personally believe he was murdered, dude was into bad shit (heroin, meth, crack), he wasnt depressed, he was an addict, a boozer, dude used drugs for years and that has a way of wearing a man down obviously, But he was rich in spirit, you can see/hear/feel it through his music, ive been obsessed with his song writing since i heard it, its sad dude had to go out the way he did, all the rumors behind it, im just glad he left a huge catalog of music for us all to learn from!
You can't escape the fact that no matter how "rich in spirit" you think he was. The dude did have a history of at least 2 possible suicide attempts, and that's not including attempted drug overdoses, or walking down the subway tracks.
However, I agree with you. I've found a copy of the Coroners report online, and it raises some doubts.
what a great song, a happy, upbeat, mellow beat, accompined by extremely depressing lyrics...brillance..its a shame this dude aint around anymore, one of the last good musicians that we had left
Well, drinks all night...

D is in a Gmaj7 chord its G's 5th, depending on the position of it it may just be an inversion.
dankula007 2 years ago
Yea, it took me a while, but I figured out the chord. It's an open voicing of a Gmaj7, starting at the 10th fret.

2 Stab wounds to the heart.
Majority rule says it was suicide, but there's a lot of factors that could imply that it wasn't.
