People just gotta stop with the comparisons. Top gear is simply an automotive based entertainment show, with different versions catering to different countries with different car cultures. Just watch the one(s) you enjoy, and realize that no one gives two shits about which one you prefer. I've watched the UK, AUS, and US versions and have gotten enjoyment out of all of them.
Not happy with robbing all the ideas from UK Top Gear they actually robbed a location. I'll watch it but the scriptwriter (and there is one) for this is a total wiper

This vid is crap. If there looking for the toughest truck for under 5 thousand dollars they should by an old Toyota hilux pickup. I live in the uk and they turned it into a boat and went across the channel with it. (English top gear) the also blew it up, crushed it under a demolition and it still went on. @1978camarolt tantienmad is right, the hilux is by far the toughest and most reliable truck/off roader, but this show is american so they tend to sway towards american trucks which is fine but unfair and inaccurate

@aliyart try watching the uk one i like it way better than this one but if you pay attention you will notice they do the same thing for british cars they did a death valley episode and put a hummer and escalade aginst a land rover those our two of our worst cars they could have used a jeep wrangler but then they would have lost

Big V8 and guzzles gas faster than your average wino. costs him $100 bucks to fill the thing up. I log about 900 miles off roading through wilderness a year with my friends on weekends and holidays. I own a 1998 Jeep Cherokee for cruising around to work and home. My off roader is a 1993 Grand Cherokee, with a after market skid plate, snorkel, and Fox shocks. has 215K miles on it.

Have you drove a Jeep off road before? and by off road, I mean bashing through 2 to 3 feet of water in a river, over fallen logs, on and off boulders, etc. I tried it once in a friend land rover and had to be towed out of a 1 foot deep stream by my friend driving my Jeep. Explain that.

@2222hornet - Nope, wrong again. Drove all of these in one time in my life. Rather forget those times though. Nissan Pathfinder is crap.(not too shocking, huh?) Toyota Land crusier and hilux (called a 4runner in the US) are pathetic. The Land Cruiser crapped out on me in a dust cloud kicked up by a friend in a Tahoe. Honda pilot is scrap waiting to happen. Ford Exploder wasn't bad until the mud clogged the air intake. Chevy Tahoe is okay, just don't do any rock climbing with it.
@xo45thvols1 sounds to me like you are very inexperinced in how to set a 4x4 up bro have you heard of snorkels pre filters and bash plates these are aids to give 4x4's a better chance in tough conditions and the pathfinder does suck i totally agree we run nissan patrols and landcruisers i dont think you get the models we get were im from i have never heard of those problems i just think you need to read and learn how to drive and prepare a 4x4 a little better we all started somewere

I do know what a pre-filter for a snorkel is, bash plates are known in America as skid plates, I know how to install a roll cage, blah, blah, blah. Do you know how to descend a steep hill covered with three inches of ice?
@2222hornet - Also piloted a Land Rover and range rover once each. Wasn't impressed with them. Mainly thought that these were better for urban driving than off roading. It's weird, you're the only person I've heard of who's had a bad experience with Jeeps. Most of my friends would go out of their way to buy another Jeep in a heartbeat. Dunno, maybe you got a string of crappy ones, like me with the other 4x4s. It all comes down to what works and clearly Jeeps don't work for you.
@2222hornet - What design are we talking about? If you mean the Liberty or the Patriot, I won't disagree. If you're talking the older Cherokees and Wranglers, there I will disagree. Again, I've had bad experiences with foreign made 4x4s, and one that damn near took my life in a Pathfinder. Also, the 900 miles is for fun. I go out in blizzards and rescue people from being stuck and getting trapped in their cars. So add on about another 600 miles during the winter.
@xo45thvols1 Snow scares me i have never even seen snow we do not get snow only in a very small part of the country. I am volunteer for the rural fire service e fight bush fires you call them wild fires we go up some very rough badly maintained tracks to do controled burns and we use toyota landcruiser and nissan patrol utes or pick up to you these have always been bullet proof thats my experince anyway

@xo45thvols1 ahh honestly on road they will understeer way before they tip fliping is a problem off road sometimes if you get reckless but the roll bars are pretty good ive seen ones who have been fliped theirs and just winched it back up and drove back home but yes they bumpers are like tinfoil terrible if you ever got one i advise rear and front off road bumpers all im saying is with 5000 bucks they can make as good a 4x4 as any of these three (minus the trailer not enough HP/TQ

(admittedly, they always were the type of stories that started "Dude, I was so wasted...", but still.) I was pulled out of a rock crevasse once by a Samurai. The landcruiser, along with Land rover, range rover, Nissan, Honda porsche, and anyone else who claims a 4x4 actually took the idea from the CJ1 Willys. This was the first commerically viable 4x4 system in the world, else it would've been produced earlier. The 1940's and 50's Jeeps are still running around the world and still beat jap 4x4s, easily. Also, the landcruiser is a CJ1 Willys licensed to Jap

And for your information i travel approx 4/5 thousand kilometers a year on rough track while on holidays i get 5 weeks off a year what you get in the usa i currently have a toyota landcruiser fully decked out diff lockers winch long range tanks and this has never let me down

Big V8 and guzzles gas faster than your average wino. costs him $100 bucks to fill the thing up. I log about 900 miles off roading through wilderness a year with my friends on weekends and holidays. I own a 1998 Jeep Cherokee for cruising around to work and home. My off roader is a 1993 Grand Cherokee, with a after market skid plate, snorkel, and Fox shocks. has 215K miles on it.

@2222hornet-Also, I won't join you in your fantasy world. I drive and owned Jeeps of all kinds and I have a hard time believing someone who hasn't actually driven one calling them crap. Have you drove a Jeep off road before? and by off road, I mean bashing through 2 to 3 feet of water in a river, over fallen logs, on and off boulders, etc. I tried it once in a friend land rover and had to be towed out of a 1 foot deep stream by my friend driving my Jeep. Explain that.

@2222hornet - Nope, wrong again. Drove all of these in one time in my life. Rather forget those times though. Nissan Pathfinder is crap.(not too shocking, huh?) Toyota Land crusier and hilux (called a 4runner in the US) are pathetic. The Land Cruiser crapped out on me in a dust cloud kicked up by a friend in a Tahoe. Honda pilot is scrap waiting to happen. Ford Exploder wasn't bad until the mud clogged the air intake. Chevy Tahoe is okay, just don't do any rock climbing with it.

@xo45thvols1 sounds to me like you are very inexperinced in how to set a 4x4 up bro have you heard of snorkels pre filters and bash plates these are aids to give 4x4's a better chance in tough conditions and the pathfinder does suck i totally agree we run nissan patrols and landcruisers i dont think you get the models we get were im from i have never heard of those problems i just think you need to read and learn how to drive and prepare a 4x4 a little better we all started somewere

@2222hornet - Also piloted a Land Rover and range rover once each. Wasn't impressed with them. Mainly thought that these were better for urban driving than off roading. It's weird, you're the only person I've heard of who's had a bad experience with Jeeps. Most of my friends would go out of their way to buy another Jeep in a heartbeat. Dunno, maybe you got a string of crappy ones, like me with the other 4x4s. It all comes down to what works and clearly Jeeps don't work for you.

@2222hornet - What design are we talking about? If you mean the Liberty or the Patriot, I won't disagree. If you're talking the older Cherokees and Wranglers, there I will disagree. Again, I've had bad experiences with foreign made 4x4s, and one that damn near took my life in a Pathfinder. Also, the 900 miles is for fun. I go out in blizzards and rescue people from being stuck and getting trapped in their cars. So add on about another 600 miles during the winter.

I am volunteer for the rural fire service e fight bush fires you call them wild fires we go up some very rough badly maintained tracks to do controled burns and we use toyota landcruiser and nissan patrol utes or pick up to you these have always been bullet proof thats my experince anyway

@xo45thvols1 ahh honestly on road they will understeer way before they tip fliping is a problem off road sometimes if you get reckless but the roll bars are pretty good ive seen ones who have been fliped theirs and just winched it back up and drove back home but yes they bumpers are like tinfoil terrible if you ever got one i advise rear and front off road bumpers all im saying is with 5000 bucks they can make as good a 4x4 as any of these three (minus the trailer not enough HP/TQ
