  • just because of my curiousity I have to ask if I am able to save settings to channels (including the 'tape-analog-digital' settings, mix, feedback, everything), and if it's possible, how many channels can I use? :)

  • Top quality.

  • I kinda feel like whats the point of having the 3 delay types? Why not have 1 and control the full ability with the Mod Lvl knob? I doubt the lowest setting on delay type 3 would be as subtle as the highest setting of delay type 2.

  • This one or the one of blackstar?? Can you help me please?

  • whats better the line 6 DL4 delay or the nova delay???

  • @kopel13 Nova in my opinion :-)

  • TC electronics that's like the Rolls Royce of peadals

  • @hero2d0s More like the Lamborghini of pedals. Rolls Royce is more like Boss.

Even still, that's debatable with Eventide pedals.

  • @hero2d0s ehhh....if that's the case, Strymon is the space shuttle of pedals.

  • is it stereo and i can connect a mic to it? :)

  • Hey PGS! You know what would be pretty sweet? Every month, you should take a few of the highest selling pedals and put them on one pedal board and demo the whole board for us. Hope you take this into consideration! :D

  • love this delay pedal! got it a while ago and it's worked great. got a real sharp clean tone. love it but i wish you would have slowed the tempo down to get a real feel of the dual delays

  • There one thing missing... MIDI

  • Great pedal! Should I get this or the flashback? Thanks PGS!

    All The Best,

    Sam

  • Dear Tc Electronic: Why isnt the preset button a foot button?!?! How are we supposed to switch presets when we're performing??

  • I would really like o hear the sound when the padal is off.

  • fantastico lo compro subito :)

  • is there a way to get some kind of oscillations and/or pitch shifting effects with this delay pedal?

  • BEST DELAY PEDAL EVER

  • @EOJrobolo Deluxe Memory Boy (Delay) by Electro-Harmonix

  • @chinojounin73 a matter of personal taste and preferences man. =)

  • This is the best unit one can ever buy, really.

  • @philotze in a stomp box yes but not for rackmounts

  • I don't use echo as an effect, more as an "always on" tone thickener, enhancer, depth adder. I also like an echo to drive my amp a little harder. I don't think this would be up my alley cus it has the A/D D/A conversions, and I don't think it adds much bite or beef to the signal.

  • mann im excited to gt this. this poops on the boss delays in my opinion

  • Hey PGS, does this pedal do self-osculation? It sounds really nice. Great demo!

  • how much is the price?

  • @puchaChin07 $250

  • I have one and I love it! TC Electronic guys are awesome!

  • Did I miss it or did you not show one of the many features of this pedal that sells it for me.

This pedal has a cool option for setting the delay time by using the guitars first few hits to set the tempo, as oppose to hitting the tap tempo button.

I've been pondering over several delay pedals to decide which one to go for and I keep coming back to this one. The sound quality and the build just stands out for me..but then it is T.C.Electronic afterall !!

  • I would like to know what the 3 mod types are modeled after. They all sound like chorus.

  • hi is this bufferd signal or truebaypass thanks???

  • just tried this. I dont like the amp distortion when this is connected to my fx loop.

  • Can,t decide between this one or the eventide timefactor.this one is 150.00 less.is the timefactoe really that much better.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos, does this thing color your tone at all? I had a Digitech TimeBender for a while, but it really altered my tone (and I can't stand that!). With it not being true bypass, I'm a bit nervous.

  • Random question, but is there a way to navigate through presets easier for live purposes? like on the DD-20 you can make it so the right pedal selects through the preset bank and have a separate pedal for tap tempo.

I have the DD-20 Giga delay right now, but I'm heavily interested in a Nova Delay.

    Thank you.

  • 'Delay' in French is 'Retard', and thats a nice retard you got there!

How much does this retard cost?

  • It sounds very nice.

  • Andy, you've heard all of these delay pedals so which one sticks out as Wow! this is the one...?

  • What's the point of presets if you have to bend down and switch them by hand?

  • @awwwyeaboyeeee Yes. i agree with you. I am looking for a delay pedal that alows me to create my own presets. This pedal is fine, but you have to bend down and change the seetings.

  • Will the voodoo lab pp2+ power the Nova Repeater or not?

  • @InspiredProphecy No I don't believe so (that's the power supply I use), but the pedal comes with a power supply made specifically for the pedal.

  • I kinda miss the pointing in the new PGS vids.

  • @TheMrRevell - We were thinking about bringing it back, just for old times' sake. Keep watching. Thanks!

    -PGS Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos is the delay long enough for brian may style delay?

  • @TheMrRevell - We were thinking about bringing it back, just for old times' sake. Keep watching. Thanks!

    -PGS Crew

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

You guys should! It reminds me of the old "Mr. Hand" from SNL's "Mr. Bill" show.

    Ooooo!!!!!!!!! NOooooo!!!!!!!!!

  • So I would like an opinion please . . . Nova Delay or Nova Repeater? any other pedals? better delay pedals. What I like about the Nova Delay (haven't bought one yet) is tap tempo and the ability to store presets. I have 2 sons so I need this to be a "community" pedal . . . naimean? Opinions, thoughts? which would be best? . . . what about the Boss Space Echo?

  • with the nova can u do the "dotted eighth delay" ???? ..

  • @guitarchox thats what he says at 1:15

  • The best delay EVER !

And Andy ,absolutely, this is the demo ever to!

  • Best Delay Ever !!!!!

  • The new TC Flashback that's coming out has analog and tape modes that sound more realistic, but it doesn't have a tone knob.

  • who is best ? this nova pedal or Boss DD7 digital delay, some body can help me ???? thankss

  • @juanking1234 I have the nava delay and the dd7. I have also played with the nova repeater. The repeater is about the same price as the boss dd7 and would take the repeater any day over the dd7. the only feature the dd7 has that the repeater and nova delay don't have is the sound on sound capablity.

  • Nice demo guys! Does this pedal have a "killdry" function like the Eventide Time Factor? I need a delay with this option for a parallel fx loop. The Timefactor is so pricey:(

  • Hi there, thanks for the demo! What are the differences between the Nova Delay and the Nova Repeater? I have the repeater but wanted presets, so I'm upgrading but I don't want to lose anything in the process.

  • So, if I take a little footswitch and glue it to the Preset button, I can have 9 different delay settings on the fly? :-)

  • has this pedal got a dotted quaver feature?

  • Nicely done, Andy. Very clear.

  • this is a very user friendly pedal, which is why I'm thinking of going for this one and not the Strymon el capistan, although the el capistan sounds amazing this is easier to see what milliseconds u have, good big display, plus it has presets and it can do different types of delay, I'm thinking of going for this one after much research

  • Now tell me, can you adjust the speed of the delay and get the crazy effect that you can with the Satriani Time Machine pedal when you turn up the feedback and then adjust the speed?

  • is this true bypass ? or this goes to the fx loops of an amp

  • This vs the Eventide Time Factor?

  • @Doddus The Eventide is about $200 more expensive, but it has loads more features, but if u are looking for a simple to use, fairly inexpensive digital delay, with many useful features, I'd recommend the nova delay

  • hey i was just messing with the presets and all of a sudden i only have 1 preset instead of 9. how can i put back all 9 ? cheers

  • Can I let it play straight 8th notes without having to tap twice as fast and set it to 4th notes? I'm only aware of the dotted 8th notes feature...

  • I'm not sure if I want to go for this or a Boss DD-7. I'm leaning towards the DD-7 due to the 40 second looper feature that would really come in handy.

  • is the thing Andy's playing in the begining an actual song, or jus something he made up? Keep it comeing though, you all have the best demos!

  • @FigureEightTV Yeah it's one of Any's songs. The question is asked a lot. I'm not Andy from PGS BTW.

  • Hey whats up... hey I was wondering... can that pedal combine different effects or your stuck to play one at a time? and if not does it have combine effects on it already?

    Hope You answer thanks ")

  • Which would you recommend between the nova delay and the boss dd20?

  • can you select the preset by a foot switch on the pedal or plug in an external tap for changing presets?

  • i hear "the stand" by hillsong at 5:44-5:50

  • I wish he would have slowed the tap tempo down when he went through the subdivisions. They all started to sound like slapback 'cause the tempo was too quick for 8th note triplets and stuff to sound very distinct.

  • please use these pedals like players such as george lynch would use them with a decent marshal tone

  • Could I plug in an external tap tempo pedal to it?

  • I thought the feedback would be like the kind on the Diamond Memory Lane; I'm disappointed.

  • If PGS had to choose between the Nova Delay and the Eventide Timefactor, which would you guys prefer overall?

  • Thx for this vid. Is it possible to play with two different Delay times (f.exp. one slower -and one faster delay) like the Edge uses it often?

  • TC Electronic pedals are super awesome!!!

  • how much does it cause?

  • An expression pedal on this thing would be nice.

  • Can I hoop up an expression pedal for delay presets? Thanks

  • I need a delay unit that provides effect level adjustment in mono mode, can this do that?

    Many thanks

  • can you tell me what the main differences are between the ND1 and the Repeater??? thanks!

  • you never check the on/off button... or in other words the clean vs fx. Is it because the Nova Delay color the sound?

  • This is great. I'm totally set on getting on. Have you guys tried running the stereo outs into a reverb pedal as a side chain to get a larger slappy reverb sound? I've tried with the echo parks and found the effect to come out really well. I imagine the clarity of the ND 1 would be more refined for something of that task.

  • Is there anyway to hook up an expression pedal for delay level?

  • @posie timefactor hands down. Don't bother with the others.

  • Everyone is so hung up on true bypass. It's not the only consideration. TC electronic does not use cheap electronics. This pedal is probably dead quiet and has great tone. I doubt it will ruin your tone. I have several buffered pedals and they work great without "tone sucking".

  • this pedal is still in production?

  • I need help from someone i'm looking for the best delay pedal. I'm down to this, TC electronic's Nova Repeater, the Boss DD-20, and the Digitech TimeBender. Which one is a better buy for the price and which was is woth getting? I need some help????????

  • @posiedonpowertrio

    Eventide Timefactor

  • your video never works....

    how will i buy it?

  • i got this pedal. pretty good one. very versatile and good preset changing system. got a bit confused with the global tempo thing but now im pretty used to it. id rather get another delay for crazy things, cuz i dont like the way the delay time knob works...

  • is this true bypass?

  • @BINDERxREVx I read somewhere that it's not true bypass.

  • i hope so.. for the price.

  • its not true bypass

the pedal needs the signal to pass so it can fade the feedback off when you turn off the pedal

  • can you help me with the "mod style"?

  • looks like a complicated pedal can sum one tell me is it easy to use??

  • it is! is very easy to use believe me

  • Thanks a lot for the demo. I just bought one.

  • Does this have a mod like with vibrato and chorus like the nova repeater ?

    thanks

    god bless

  • It does have modulation and we go over it about halfway in the vid. It is very subtle however compared to the Repeater which has the extra Vibrato feature and more intense chorus tones.

  • oh i see thanks guys !

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

you just made my day! one of my biggest influences is The Edge (U2) my god i have now chose my delay pedal!

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos How would you change the presets while playing? Is there a way to do it without using the hand?

    thanks!

  • @meneguettij Yes you can do it with your feet.

Just tap the right button once and the left as many times as you want to skip settings

  • i bought this yesterday does anyon e know how to turn the spillover off?!?!?!

  • how do you set the presents?

  • i have a mod for this. i change the tap tempo on the box to be the preset button and put an external tap on it. it makes it easier to use during performance.

  • I find this pedal very tricky when storing presets and trying to recall them

  • is this a 12v dc pedal?

  • yes

  • id buy this just for the tap tempo feature, everything else would be a bonus, and there's alotta bonuses! 8-)

  • is it made in CHina? Warrenty?

  • does this pedal do dotted 8th delays?

  • you bet

  • so does the nova delay...just look at the screen of this video...

  • was that fire by bruce springsteen at the start??

  • if by "fire" you mean "im on fire" then yeah i think it is.

  • I have one, I love it.

I don't really use my DD-5 anymore since I got it.

  • this or timebender? i dont know it just seems the timebender has a whole other universe packed with it, but people keep telling me this one is great. IDK?!!!!

  • i just tested one out today and its truly spectacular. the tone is brilliant

  • im addicted to the riff that plays right at the start of the vid before the review. thats seriously awesome

  • unanimous....to cool :D

  • Whats the big difference between this pedal and TC Electronics Repeater pedal?

  • The Repeater is a simplified version of this one. Some people found this pedal too complicated so TC Electronic made the repeater for those people.

  • The big differences are that 1) the Repeater doesn't have presets, and 2) the Repeater does not have the LED screen showing your exact delay time.

They did add at least one feature in the Repeater that isn't in the Nova Delay. There's a feature called KillDry, which mutes your dry signal. Weird, but I'd possibly use it in the studio I guess.

  • demonstrating the different subdivition modes in that delay time is just stupid.. I would want to hear some of them in a different delay time.

  • can you do any crazy "robot" sounds on this like you did with the melleko ekko?

  • That's generally something an Analog delay can only do. There are a few digital delays like the Subdecay Echo or Mad Prof Deep Blue that give you crazy oscillation.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos the line 6 dl4 will do it too.

  • Im looking for a delay to thicken up my lead sound.

Which do you think would be better the nova delay or the carbon copy

I play stuff like whitesnake, europe and gary moore.

  • The Nova delay is more diverse in what it can do, but the Carbon copy is cheaper and easier to use out of the box

  • thanks for the help, i think i might go for the nova delay.

but just one more question, do you think it would be possible to reproduce the warmth of the carbon copy in the nova delay?

    thanks

  • If it's just for your lead sound I'd go with the carbon copy. A sound investment in my opinion with it being true analogue bucket brigade. This would be more suited if you want a lot of features to experiment with. Overly complicated in some opinions, plus I've hear a lot of noise and reliability issues.

  • right l love delayas an effect but l'm not in depth on the tecnical stuff l was gonna buy the green line 6 delay pedel with looping but l heard about this pedal froma mate of mine so l'm just weighing my options

  • Great pedal but nothing beats the

    Yamaha UD Stomp.

  • Which is better, the dd-20 or this?

  • This one feels more ... majestic.

  • I'd say this, it offers more, and has sounds less digital than DD

  • prolly this.

    but the dd-20 is cheaper

  • dd-20 dude! i bought one and luv it!!! only coz its so much cheaper! and i find the 4 presets + manual mode is more than enough

  • this, you will not be dissapointed

  • It's sweet plugging 2 guitars into the two inputs and having it go out to two amps. You get the sound of one guitar in one amp and the delay of it in another and the second guitar plays where the delay of the first comes out and its delay plays out of the guitar of the first amp. Very cool sounds.

  • is this true bypass?

  • no, but it's pretty close!

  • Guys, one question - can I kill the dry signal by mix level all the way up?

  • yes, there is no dry signal with the mix level pot all the way up.

  • Eventide = win but then it is twice the price

  • esta buenaso

  • Question: In preset mode, the tap tempo switches between presets, but is the audio tapping feature still possible? Can the presets be re-tapped to match the exact tempo, otherwise your presets will be useless in a live situation.

  • - Press the tap tempo switch repeatedly (more than once) and itll set the delay tempo. This goes for audio tapping too. Pressing and holding the tap tempo switch for +2 seconds will automatically switch to audio tapping mode.

So to answer your question: Yes, audio tapping and tap tempo can be used with the presets, so any preset can be re-tapped to match the tempo you want.

    Hope that helps a bit!

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

  • can you replay stuff on this?

  • i still think boss makes the best delay pedals out there. the dd-20 is so convenient with changing presets on the fly (once you get the hang of it and use an external tap) which makes things so much easier playing live. although this one does sound good (and i wish pro guitar would put a delay demo up with a true delay guitar player that modeled the edge or someone like that instead of pointless delay lines) i dont think it lives up the the dd20 or even the dd-7

  • a major difference is that the mix knob on the nova delay can eliminate the original signal, because it works like a normal mix knob. The equivalent on the repeater, the FX level knob, allows you to only control the level of the repeats and not the original signal. This is important for ambient pieces, where reverse is used and you don't want the original signal in. Honestly, the ND-1 is much better in my opinion.

  • You can eliminate the original signal on the Nova Repeater in reverse mode FYI. You can also use the Kill Dry button in any mode.

  • In reverse delay mode, the FX level pot at 99-100% kills the dry signal (leaving the reverse delay at 100%). In all other delay modes, the dry signal is unaffected (always at 100%).

  • Same question, are the Nova Delay and Repeater the same?

  • nova repeater is pretty much the same except it doesnt have the screen

  • Same answer, nova repeater is pretty much the same except it doesnt have the screen.

  • Nova Delay has 9 presets, LCD display, panner (can actually be used as tremolo in mono) and stereo in/out... and the price difference is around 80$ (Nova Repeater 169$ / Nova Delay 249$).

IMHO Nova Repeater surely is the best low priced delay pedal, if you don't need presets.

Both pedals can be used in +4db amplifier FX loops - with Nova Delay you just calibrate the pedal to match the signal level by holding the "manual"-key... on Nova Repeater you use either the FX Loop or Instrument input.

  • the beginning sounds like a mae song, i forget which one though...

    sounds good though

  • is the Nova Delay Pedal and the Nova Repeater Pedal the same pedal?

  • anyone know of a cheap (under $100-i know) tap tempo delay?

  • If u find one, tell me bro...

  • i dont think theres such thing. just check out ebay. you can used stuff thats basically brand new for sometimes half the retail price.

  • look around online (ebay) and craigs list and stuff for a boss dd-5. classic delay pedal with an external tap tempo

  • Is it even possible too control the presets by foot or expression pedal?

  • im having trouble with the preset saving. i can save the settings except the tempo

  • The Nova delay allows to have individuel delay time for each preset, but also allows shared delay time between presets. When a delay time is shared between presets it is called: "global tempo".You can choose exactly which presets you would like to be "preset tempo" or "global tempo".

  • The reason why it looks like presets do not keep the programmed delay time, is very likely because you have some/all of your presets enabled to use "global tempo". If you would like to change some/all of your presets to "preset tempo" then:

  • song at 0:30 please

  • great pedal, but seems too involved for Live Stage use. A million presets does nothing for you if you have to scroll thru them manually.

Does this even have a midi control out or anything?

Yes I know you can use the hold & release function, but seriously.. not very easy to use for quick changes mid song. For the price they should have at least added an extra control for this function, in my opinion.

  • A buddy of my said you can assign the presets through an (RJM music technology effects gizmo)then to the midi, but I dont have it so may be just talk, but its a good point you make.

  • You can switch through the presets with the on/off and tap tempo-button. Pretty easy.

  • can i hear some opinions on the best all around delay out there?
