just because of my curiousity I have to ask if I am able to save settings to channels (including the 'tape-analog-digital' settings, mix, feedback, everything), and if it's possible, how many channels can I use? :)
I kinda feel like whats the point of having the 3 delay types? Why not have 1 and control the full ability with the Mod Lvl knob? I doubt the lowest setting on delay type 3 would be as subtle as the highest setting of delay type 2.
Hey PGS! You know what would be pretty sweet? Every month, you should take a few of the highest selling pedals and put them on one pedal board and demo the whole board for us. Hope you take this into consideration! :D
love this delay pedal! got it a while ago and it's worked great. got a real sharp clean tone. love it but i wish you would have slowed the tempo down to get a real feel of the dual delays
I don't use echo as an effect, more as an "always on" tone thickener, enhancer, depth adder. I also like an echo to drive my amp a little harder. I don't think this would be up my alley cus it has the A/D D/A conversions, and I don't think it adds much bite or beef to the signal.
Did I miss it or did you not show one of the many features of this pedal that sells it for me.
This pedal has a cool option for setting the delay time by using the guitars first few hits to set the tempo, as oppose to hitting the tap tempo button.
I've been pondering over several delay pedals to decide which one to go for and I keep coming back to this one. The sound quality and the build just stands out for me..but then it is T.C.Electronic afterall !!
@ProGuitarShopDemos, does this thing color your tone at all? I had a Digitech TimeBender for a while, but it really altered my tone (and I can't stand that!). With it not being true bypass, I'm a bit nervous.
Random question, but is there a way to navigate through presets easier for live purposes? like on the DD-20 you can make it so the right pedal selects through the preset bank and have a separate pedal for tap tempo.
I have the DD-20 Giga delay right now, but I'm heavily interested in a Nova Delay.
@awwwyeaboyeeee Yes. i agree with you. I am looking for a delay pedal that alows me to create my own presets. This pedal is fine, but you have to bend down and change the seetings.
So I would like an opinion please . . . Nova Delay or Nova Repeater? any other pedals? better delay pedals. What I like about the Nova Delay (haven't bought one yet) is tap tempo and the ability to store presets. I have 2 sons so I need this to be a "community" pedal . . . naimean? Opinions, thoughts? which would be best? . . . what about the Boss Space Echo?
@juanking1234 I have the nava delay and the dd7. I have also played with the nova repeater. The repeater is about the same price as the boss dd7 and would take the repeater any day over the dd7. the only feature the dd7 has that the repeater and nova delay don't have is the sound on sound capablity.
Nice demo guys! Does this pedal have a "killdry" function like the Eventide Time Factor? I need a delay with this option for a parallel fx loop. The Timefactor is so pricey:(
Hi there, thanks for the demo! What are the differences between the Nova Delay and the Nova Repeater? I have the repeater but wanted presets, so I'm upgrading but I don't want to lose anything in the process.
this is a very user friendly pedal, which is why I'm thinking of going for this one and not the Strymon el capistan, although the el capistan sounds amazing this is easier to see what milliseconds u have, good big display, plus it has presets and it can do different types of delay, I'm thinking of going for this one after much research
Now tell me, can you adjust the speed of the delay and get the crazy effect that you can with the Satriani Time Machine pedal when you turn up the feedback and then adjust the speed?
@Doddus The Eventide is about $200 more expensive, but it has loads more features, but if u are looking for a simple to use, fairly inexpensive digital delay, with many useful features, I'd recommend the nova delay
I'm not sure if I want to go for this or a Boss DD-7. I'm leaning towards the DD-7 due to the 40 second looper feature that would really come in handy.
Hey whats up... hey I was wondering... can that pedal combine different effects or your stuck to play one at a time? and if not does it have combine effects on it already?
I wish he would have slowed the tap tempo down when he went through the subdivisions. They all started to sound like slapback 'cause the tempo was too quick for 8th note triplets and stuff to sound very distinct.
This is great. I'm totally set on getting on. Have you guys tried running the stereo outs into a reverb pedal as a side chain to get a larger slappy reverb sound? I've tried with the echo parks and found the effect to come out really well. I imagine the clarity of the ND 1 would be more refined for something of that task.
Everyone is so hung up on true bypass. It's not the only consideration. TC electronic does not use cheap electronics. This pedal is probably dead quiet and has great tone. I doubt it will ruin your tone. I have several buffered pedals and they work great without "tone sucking".
I need help from someone i'm looking for the best delay pedal. I'm down to this, TC electronic's Nova Repeater, the Boss DD-20, and the Digitech TimeBender. Which one is a better buy for the price and which was is woth getting? I need some help????????
i got this pedal. pretty good one. very versatile and good preset changing system. got a bit confused with the global tempo thing but now im pretty used to it. id rather get another delay for crazy things, cuz i dont like the way the delay time knob works...

right l love delayas an effect but l'm not in depth on the tecnical stuff l was gonna buy the green line 6 delay pedel with looping but l heard about this pedal froma mate of mine so l'm just weighing my options
It's sweet plugging 2 guitars into the two inputs and having it go out to two amps. You get the sound of one guitar in one amp and the delay of it in another and the second guitar plays where the delay of the first comes out and its delay plays out of the guitar of the first amp. Very cool sounds.
Question: In preset mode, the tap tempo switches between presets, but is the audio tapping feature still possible? Can the presets be re-tapped to match the exact tempo, otherwise your presets will be useless in a live situation.
- Press the tap tempo switch repeatedly (more than once) and itll set the delay tempo. This goes for audio tapping too. Pressing and holding the tap tempo switch for +2 seconds will automatically switch to audio tapping mode.
So to answer your question: Yes, audio tapping and tap tempo can be used with the presets, so any preset can be re-tapped to match the tempo you want.
i still think boss makes the best delay pedals out there. the dd-20 is so convenient with changing presets on the fly (once you get the hang of it and use an external tap) which makes things so much easier playing live. although this one does sound good (and i wish pro guitar would put a delay demo up with a true delay guitar player that modeled the edge or someone like that instead of pointless delay lines) i dont think it lives up the the dd20 or even the dd-7
a major difference is that the mix knob on the nova delay can eliminate the original signal, because it works like a normal mix knob. The equivalent on the repeater, the FX level knob, allows you to only control the level of the repeats and not the original signal. This is important for ambient pieces, where reverse is used and you don't want the original signal in. Honestly, the ND-1 is much better in my opinion.
In reverse delay mode, the FX level pot at 99-100% kills the dry signal (leaving the reverse delay at 100%). In all other delay modes, the dry signal is unaffected (always at 100%).
Nova Delay has 9 presets, LCD display, panner (can actually be used as tremolo in mono) and stereo in/out... and the price difference is around 80$ (Nova Repeater 169$ / Nova Delay 249$).
IMHO Nova Repeater surely is the best low priced delay pedal, if you don't need presets.
Both pedals can be used in +4db amplifier FX loops - with Nova Delay you just calibrate the pedal to match the signal level by holding the "manual"-key... on Nova Repeater you use either the FX Loop or Instrument input.
The Nova delay allows to have individuel delay time for each preset, but also allows shared delay time between presets. When a delay time is shared between presets it is called: "global tempo".You can choose exactly which presets you would like to be "preset tempo" or "global tempo".
The reason why it looks like presets do not keep the programmed delay time, is very likely because you have some/all of your presets enabled to use "global tempo". If you would like to change some/all of your presets to "preset tempo" then:
great pedal, but seems too involved for Live Stage use. A million presets does nothing for you if you have to scroll thru them manually.
Does this even have a midi control out or anything?
Yes I know you can use the hold & release function, but seriously.. not very easy to use for quick changes mid song. For the price they should have at least added an extra control for this function, in my opinion.
A buddy of my said you can assign the presets through an (RJM music technology effects gizmo)then to the midi, but I dont have it so may be just talk, but its a good point you make.
just because of my curiousity I have to ask if I am able to save settings to channels (including the 'tape-analog-digital' settings, mix, feedback, everything), and if it's possible, how many channels can I use? :)

Which is better, the dd-20 or this?
littleleaf96 2 years ago
This one feels more ... majestic.
Gamagachee 2 years ago
I'd say this, it offers more, and has sounds less digital than DD
sandermeijer 2 years ago
prolly this.
but the dd-20 is cheaper
AwesomeBuddy12 2 years ago
dd-20 dude! i bought one and luv it!!! only coz its so much cheaper! and i find the 4 presets + manual mode is more than enough

It's sweet plugging 2 guitars into the two inputs and having it go out to two amps. You get the sound of one guitar in one amp and the delay of it in another and the second guitar plays where the delay of the first comes out and its delay plays out of the guitar of the first amp. Very cool sounds.

Guys, one question - can I kill the dry signal by mix level all the way up?
MSqcz 2 years ago
yes, there is no dry signal with the mix level pot all the way up.

Question: In preset mode, the tap tempo switches between presets, but is the audio tapping feature still possible? Can the presets be re-tapped to match the exact tempo, otherwise your presets will be useless in a live situation.
drmsgtrplayer 2 years ago
- Press the tap tempo switch repeatedly (more than once) and itll set the delay tempo. This goes for audio tapping too. Pressing and holding the tap tempo switch for +2 seconds will automatically switch to audio tapping mode.
So to answer your question: Yes, audio tapping and tap tempo can be used with the presets, so any preset can be re-tapped to match the tempo you want.
Hope that helps a bit!
Best wishes,
Joey @ TC

can you replay stuff on this?
Caboose100000002 2 years ago
i still think boss makes the best delay pedals out there. the dd-20 is so convenient with changing presets on the fly (once you get the hang of it and use an external tap) which makes things so much easier playing live. although this one does sound good (and i wish pro guitar would put a delay demo up with a true delay guitar player that modeled the edge or someone like that instead of pointless delay lines) i dont think it lives up the the dd20 or even the dd-7

a major difference is that the mix knob on the nova delay can eliminate the original signal, because it works like a normal mix knob. The equivalent on the repeater, the FX level knob, allows you to only control the level of the repeats and not the original signal. This is important for ambient pieces, where reverse is used and you don't want the original signal in. Honestly, the ND-1 is much better in my opinion.
northxend 2 years ago
You can eliminate the original signal on the Nova Repeater in reverse mode FYI. You can also use the Kill Dry button in any mode.
ProGuitarShopDemos 2 years ago
In reverse delay mode, the FX level pot at 99-100% kills the dry signal (leaving the reverse delay at 100%). In all other delay modes, the dry signal is unaffected (always at 100%).

Same question, are the Nova Delay and Repeater the same?
Rambo29 2 years ago
nova repeater is pretty much the same except it doesnt have the screen

Same answer, nova repeater is pretty much the same except it doesnt have the screen.
wesselbindt 2 years ago
Nova Delay has 9 presets, LCD display, panner (can actually be used as tremolo in mono) and stereo in/out... and the price difference is around 80$ (Nova Repeater 169$ / Nova Delay 249$).
IMHO Nova Repeater surely is the best low priced delay pedal, if you don't need presets.
Both pedals can be used in +4db amplifier FX loops - with Nova Delay you just calibrate the pedal to match the signal level by holding the "manual"-key... on Nova Repeater you use either the FX Loop or Instrument input.

the beginning sounds like a mae song, i forget which one though...
sounds good though

Is it even possible too control the presets by foot or expression pedal?
fulltonefan 2 years ago
im having trouble with the preset saving. i can save the settings except the tempo
jerrylauj913 2 years ago
The Nova delay allows to have individuel delay time for each preset, but also allows shared delay time between presets. When a delay time is shared between presets it is called: "global tempo".You can choose exactly which presets you would like to be "preset tempo" or "global tempo".
MarcoDiLoh 2 years ago
The reason why it looks like presets do not keep the programmed delay time, is very likely because you have some/all of your presets enabled to use "global tempo". If you would like to change some/all of your presets to "preset tempo" then:

great pedal, but seems too involved for Live Stage use. A million presets does nothing for you if you have to scroll thru them manually.
Does this even have a midi control out or anything?
Yes I know you can use the hold & release function, but seriously.. not very easy to use for quick changes mid song. For the price they should have at least added an extra control for this function, in my opinion.
helixcrow 2 years ago
A buddy of my said you can assign the presets through an (RJM music technology effects gizmo)then to the midi, but I dont have it so may be just talk, but its a good point you make.
petiethepitt 2 years ago
You can switch through the presets with the on/off and tap tempo-button. Pretty easy.
