  • hey, guys! i'm a non-music major and i suck at music, and i had to choose a piece of music from the classical era. and i picked this one.

would you guys tell me what instruments are played here, besides violin?

and how would you describe this piece?

    please help me out, guys!

  • i play this in orchestra and its really hard

  • i play this song in orchestra and its really hard

  • We almost played this in orchestra class. I'm sad we didn't.

  • EPIC

  • I'm having a hard time putting Gluck entirely in the Baroque period. It sounds Classical and Baroque. It's awesome!!

  • i played this in my high school orchestra last year and it was sooooo cool!!!!!!! but we did not get to play it in concert because everyone that was not first stand did not practice and i wanted to kill my section for not practicing

  • @Goddess10123 If I were on the jury for your murder trial, I would have aquitted you. No deliberations.

  • oh man. i'm a freshman and we just started school and this is our first piece we're learning. it's very difficult to me right now [ and i am a cello ] but i'm sure i'll get used to it.

  • I played this with the North Central Symphony Orchestra when I was in 7th grade. It was difficult but sounded beautiful.

  • wow, some parts reminds me so much of Mozart! must have had a great influence on Mozart.

  • @RemovdSande11 Not just Mozart. Beethoven, Von Weber, and even Wagner. Sounds like he was influenced by Vivaldi here.

  • @NeverAloneForever

    yes totally agree! genious composer.

  • @RemovdSande11 Ironically, he didn't have much gluck. It's only because of the men (specifically Mozart) he influenced that I even heard of him. Yet he's still a very important composer.

lol I know. I ruined it with that terrible pun, huh? Sorry.

  • King Richard's Crusade...

  • Good

  • Allow me to retort, but I think that "Dance of the Furies" is much better than just good.

  • hey i avnt managed to get the song so as i sed b4 cud i get it off youtube anyway

  • There are programs on the internet to convert youtube to ipod. You can download only the music as mp3, so you can play it in any media player. Quality won't be very good, though.

  • @flamecat112 -- I've actually found that many of them have the quality as fine.

  • is there any way of gettin the song of youtube or any other way due to not being able to find it

  • is there anyway i could get it

  • it might be difficult... its from a compilation disc from 93 which is out of print. i would suggest googling the song and conducter and seeing if the recording has been used on another series. good luck.

  • @hippykitten22

I played this several times last year with a conductor who liked a tempo that was nearly twice this one. Way too fast. The violins have nothing but constant 16th note arpeggios and other runs without stop. After the piece is over your arm and hand are DEAD -and there's still the rest of the mixed program in the concert to do.

  • who performed this version as i am looking to use it for a dance exam

  • this incredible version is done by Wilhelm Keitel and the Southwest German Chamber Orchestra.

  • @Azraelophiel Wilhelm Keitel was a Nazi and war criminal.

  • Amazing how much this anticipates Mozart and "Don Giovanni".

  • Than you so much for posting this, it is my favorite work by Gluck!
