Colin was supposed to be our Director of Photography but seeing as I had already storyboarded most of the shots, on the days of the film shoot I already had my own vision of how it would look. I continually pissed on his suggestions (however genius they may have been) and he got quite frustrated. This climaxed in us jousting with brooms on bicycles in the scrubland. I won and got back to the job at hand...

...At one point of the day I decided to humour the defeated Colin and let him film an alternative take on one of the shots. (It's the one where the bad hitchhiker arrives, shot from the ground underneath said bad hitchhiker, Sergio Leone style)...

...When editing the video together I realised Colins take was far more exciting than mine. I used it instead of the one I had originally scripted.
I shed a single tear when I realised that the film may have been even more "amazing" had I actually allowed my DOP to do the job i didn't pay him to do.
