  • I use 8" push-up stands (purpose built) to do my push-ups. It allows you to dip 8 inches deeper than using the floor. Using the chairs can cause accidents. Your too high and if look closely you can see the chairs sliding around. Very unstable. Injuries take a long time to heal.

    Did the same thing as you, tearing up muscle fibers and wrist tendons. I'm sorry I ever learned about this kind of pushup from a brochure I remember my father got with an exercise device.

    You'll fuck up more than just the rotator cuff as I discovered when i did this kind of pushup years ago. It'll tear mucle fibers and tendons as well.

    Not only can you hurt your shoulder joints(including the rotator cuff) but as I can attest, it can seriously injure one's arms and hands. By my overdoing it some years ago, I overstretched the muscle fibers and tendons for both arms and hands and got tendinitis. It's pretty well healed now but this is really a stupid exercise if one does more than a few reps at a time.

  • This is actually quite bad for your shoulder joints. You go way beyond the range of motion your shoulders should go when pushing up weight. if you want to train you chest and triceps using pushups, use different stances (wide stance, diamond stance, or even one arm pushups) Just make shure your elbows don't go past your shoulder joints when going down. Just my advice....

  • this kind of push-up is really effective in building huge chest. if you guys are familiar with the muscle blaster system published around mid 90's, the chest program almost similar to this one. the program only use owns body weight, in order to have more resistance, you need to perform the positive (pushing) part 4 secs or more, and the negative (lowering) part 8 secs or more. the longer the positive-negative part, the more resistance to your muscles.

  • @sig1mil its not all about bench pressing, maybe if u go to a gym and get a trainer. i have really improved. at my gym its only like 10$ for a trainer and he really helps me. im 14 and way 169 flat. and i bench 260 also i started out at 145. and he has really help in the past 6 weeks. i have got better results with using a trainer then doing it buy my self. and when ur at home. do push ups on ur spare time like i do :)
