It's really strange to think I found this music just browsing through iTunes. I knew Tyondai had been in Battles previously and having ordered their CD recently, I decided to check out Tyondai's solo music. He has seemed to do what I have always wanted to hear - mix alternative music, elecronic vibes, experimental ideas and orchestra together which really covers most of my hobbies and interests. Also, he has seemed to create an interesting narrative within the music that means each piece on the
Battles was incredible, but there is a time for everything.....I do enjoy "Central Market", and I think it is good way to purchase his own musical instincts.
Surely, Battles will continue to release interesting stuff, and also does Tyondai Braxton. Comparisons often stick together with a high proportion of inaccuracy, but i do think, that what he is doing on his own and what Battles did towards popular music is something like what John Lurie did with Loung Lizards towards Jazz.
WHAT THE FUCK TYONDAI! Fair enough you got your own stuff going on, but surely you could have finnished the proposed Battles album . . . . instead of just leaving!! I was truely looking forward to hearing the new material as was many Battles fans I'm sure. Sad times, sad times . . .
