I am going to be one of the few to defend Ed Sullivan. This was prime time family TV at 8pm Sunday night. It was a time of change. "Getting higher" was a new drug reference -very provocative. I saw it live. Morrison didn't do anything courageous - it was more stupid and self-destructive than anything. Watch the Stones video on Sullivan when Jagger roles his eyes when his sings "Let's spend some TIME (as opposed to the NIGHT) together. Much more effective, rebellious, and business savvy.
