All young people like yourself that I see play the piano as well as you do have simply no feeling or expression. They look so disconnected and it comes out in the music being played too, you can hear it. However, you are just completely the opposite. You know exactly what you are doing, and I can see you really feel what you are playing, with your own style, you perfectly execute what the piece requires of you, and more. Truly a brilliant pianist.
Wow - this sounds so effortless for which is a very difficult etude. I understand that even Horowitz, Rubinstein and Cherkassky found this study tricky. Well done George - keep up the hard work.
the combination of soft, quick and smooth string of tunes, very perfect of playing half octaves and octaves, you play flawless, George ! but why did some people say that the pedal stamping is rather bad ?
brilliant playing this piece is so much more difficult than it sounds even, its abit like trying to do the washing up using only your forth and fifth fingers!
Good job relaxing your fingers and hand to play it well! Have you ever looked at Godowsky's study on this (does the chromatic scales in the left hand).
Hmm I was expecting something like this, but it's even better than I even imagined and that is your technique i mean! :) Just the right amount of movement to get it done!
It's amazing that even George, with his natural ability, is challenged by this piece - a true testament to it's level of difficulty. His effort is nontheless formidable. The most clear recording of this piece I've heard to date is Pollini's. Sure, there are those who can play it much faster, but they lack clarity and precision, not to mention emotion. You have to have a tremendous amount of internal power to play this piece.
I think this may be the most impressive of all George's videos. Non-professional pianists watching this may not be aware of how difficult this piece is. Indeed I heard a high-level pianist say that this is the most difficult of all the Chopin studies, even more so than the G sharp minor, Op. 25 No. 6.
Dominant pedal point 0:54 to 1:00 always gives me a delicious cold shudder down the back. It is possible to use the sosenuto pedal and help out with left hand. You did not, of course.
I liked the choreography at the end - the display of exhaustion and relief! Actually, of course, you had no problem at all in getting through this piece.
Awesome, George !!!! You sure pick the difficult ones. Most pianists won't touch this with a barge pole in public performance. Perfection !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not bad, actually, even better than freddy kempt -- but still on the 'study' side... not enough music. Must be the piano's fault, since the little pianist seems to move in time and enjoy the piece.
I recently got my hands on an electric piano which has to go back soon. I have been practising this one since and just when I thought I was doing ok, I come here and hear this version again. I just can't believe how simple you make it look. Such a difficult piece. I might get my version recorded and uploaded to youtube to give u something to laugh at :-P
This is a wonderful rendition of this work. The challenge is to play chords in the right hand with chromatic scales using the 3rd, 4th and 5th fingers at the same time. By doing this smoothly and artistically, George shows that he has a flawless technique and a formidable sense of style - and at such an early age of 13! He is a true phenomenon. My prayer is that he will establish himself as an outstanding virtuoso pianist of his generation.
true, unlike others kid on youtube thqat play he plays with passion which means he enjoys it unlike other kids pushed to play it he is truely tsalented the next big pianist like Alfred Brendel, Arthure Rubiestein, etc.
Bravo: when you no longer feel it is for study, the challenge is met... Remember Cortot: Rachmanonoff found him too musical in his études, but I like them this way and you come very close, moving beyond technicalities.
Bravo Lovely! A pleasure to hear! Have a great week George you bring such lovely music to YouTube! Thank you for sharing your love and wonderful talent! Chopin is a favorite of mine! your friend, Dallis
Yes, the RH is quite good. However, his LH is very well done--supportive and musical. Keep up the good work. There is refinement and musicality and great talent here.
La difficulté devient facilité, sous vos doigt.Jouer une des études de Chopin, la plus ardue, en ayant l'air de s'amuser: il faut s'appeler George, pour réaliser un tel exploit.
You give a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Tickle the ivories" Brilliantly done George. I love to watch you play as much as I enjoy hearing it. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Amazing! You must have some crazy technique to do this~ I can't even play it slowly ( i guess it's harder if you play it note by note). Really well done! I love 45 seconds in.
Awesome job! :)
