You have a beautiful spider, love your videos. I got my first tarantula when i was 12 and went on to live for 12 years. I recently purchased another which is the same spieces as before, rose hair. But I was thinking about purchasing another, but a different spices. Where could I find a goliath for purchase? SInce I cant seem to find in any pet stores nearby. Any websites you recommend?
@GRoseaHelpMe: The T.blondi and the Goliath Bird Eater are the same tarantula - just one is the scientific name and the other is the common name. Zilla was actually a T. Sp. Burgundy - the T.blondi has recently been redescribed.
lets see some more zilla feedin vids ROB! haha. I dont know if you remember but i ended up buying a 40 gal tank for my T all i need is the zilla junior.
@Steffos159 dont worry the maximum size for T.blondi is approximate 12 inches. Well, unless you add steroids or growth hormones to it! Oh, the color differes after moult, they change color when growing as they obtain a new exoskeleton.
no tarantulas arent venomous the only tarantulas thatcould put you in the hospital are the baboon speicies because of there venom thats the only species though
it does not change the fact that all tarantulas are venomous... and have venom. it may or may not all be deadly, and quite frankly i don't want to personally find out.
Hey nice video, I just started think about getting a tarantula. I was wondering and keep it in mind I just started watching videos but have you ever fed Zilla a mouse?
Mice are very bad for T's, I have gave Zilla a mouse or 2 in her entire life (to fill her up so she wouldn't eat a male).....I do have a video on here of it.
nice, i find with this species when they dont have an approaching moult, they have an insatiable appetite. mine will take 4 large crickets at once and have em all impaled on her fangs.
Na, can't do that....mice are a big no-no for T's...too much calcium and if they eat too many vertabrates, they can have trouble molting. I don't know if you say my female P. Regalis that had a wet molt, and later died, but that's what caused it...her previous owner fed her a lot of mice. I feed my big T's a mouse maybe once a year, if that...before breeding or after a molt...that's it.
As rob says, small mammals can do a T a lot more harm than it can good. Big T's would only be fed mice, or more accurately, A mouse, just before breeding so the female doesn't see the male so much as a snack!!
Manys T's have fallen i'll and died because owners have fed mice and such as a main food source - not good!
man i have seen your video where you hold this spider and i noticed how fast it is! i have a male blondi and its moves far more slower then this one. it also seems pretty nervouse but i think thats normal in female blondis
