Was this just a scaled down test motor of 25,000NS? That would only put this motor in the lower range of "O" (20,480.01-40,960) , not "P". Do you know the actual NS of the motors that were used in the launch at Balls?
WOWZERZ that thing is big.... Those pretty expensive? How much does it weigh? How much thrust in pounds? :-D What are those used for? Thanks in advance...
Mach diamonds have more to do with nozzle geometry, and speed related to that geometry as it rebounds......... Engines have moving parts, even if only one, motors do not, much like electric motors which only rotate based on magnetic curent. I have both rocket engines and motors. I like the engines, I use real tools to assemble them. I never interchange to keep everything straight.,,,,but some folks like to interchange.....like tissue and Kleenex.
funny thing though, you have over 40.000 views and about 50 ratings, i got on my last vid 30-40 views and already 26 lowrates.lol, (im so hunted by flaggers)
yea stop being so critic, it didn't blow up or hurt anyone did it, anyone how dod you know he wasn't testing something other than it needed a nossle, you dont know do you

I have some experience with this stuff. Much of the fuel appears to be consumed outside the motor. One thing idiots don't understand is intellectual types. I say what I think because its what I think. Assholes.. I mean regular people, are too bust being assholes to think - and just say oooh ahh thats cool .. or just act like assholes. I say what I think, because I'm smart. Be an asshole all you like, its not going to make me any less smart.
Like, that sounds deafening from here, behind the safety of a volume control mostly turned all the way down... surely it would make you go deaf, unless you wore ear protection...
what do you meen? By EX launches and also what is the curative?? Is it not just simply a mix of AP aluminium and HTPB (or what i now know as liquid rubber!
I see you're not from US. EX are experimental launches. Go to lokiresearch dot com look under literature for the composites book. Read many times before doing anything. Do it safe.
Yes all P motors are experimental. CTI has a certified O motor the O5100. I won't tell you where you can get the P motor casing but I do know where to get one. Also this was a P motor test for Wedge Oldhams full scale Black Brant II which was powered by three P motors yes three P motors.

3 P motors... that wouldnt happen to be the 700 pound Black Brant, would it?

terrible engine didnt make a single mach diomond
panzuman 1 year ago
It's a motor, no moving parts, and mach diamonds are often an indication of design problems. Not always, but at times diamonds are a bad sign.
VooDooRocketry 1 year ago
@VooDooRocketry motor and engine are interchangable terms and i thought that mach diomands where soley an indicator of exaughst speed.
panzuman 1 year ago
@panzuman
you see the SRB's of the space shuttle make mach diamonds?

@panzuman so you can make somthing better? don''t think so. you don't wnt mach dimonds on ROCKET MOTORS

awsome except for the fact that it wasnt in a rocket but damn......... even on the ground good camera angle 5 stars m8

White motor, It's not mine but if the guys used the formula I thing they did it had moderate amounts of Al and a small percentage of chrome.

Yes there was a nozzle, yes it was secured in a stand. Onlookers were 600 feet away.
I don't know how you came to your conclusions. Suffice this test was performed by people who know their business, and don't guess. ;-)

Was this the motor that got the impulse level reduced to "M" at the field?
Baahaska 3 years ago
I *believe* that was an N something in a rocket which went awry. But the club is still around so it should be simple to ask about.

roughly speaking:
M: 5k-10k Ns
N: 10k-20k Ns
O: 20k-40k Ns
P: 40k-80k Ns
So if it is a P you are looking at around 60k Ns, not 10k Ns. 3000 times the impulse of a D motor.
Looks like you're burning AP and alum, probably high metals content. What was your Isp? Around 230s?

freakin woosh lol. duz anyone no how high that thing went? ummm has it went?

im guessing thats a solid fuel engine because it was only 7 seconds of burning. Like all solid fuel engines, quite powerful, but short burning time.

where did you get the HTPB from to make the apac
alphadeltaforce 4 years ago
It's only liquid rubber, available at some EX launches.....the proper curative is the real trick to obtain. ;-)

what do you meen? By EX launches and also what is the curative?? Is it not just simply a mix of AP aluminium and HTPB (or what i now know as liquid rubber!

What are the ratios of the mix of AP, aluminium and HTPB?
alphadeltaforce 4 years ago
~8 sec burn. Was that traditional APCP, with bates grains? Also, what did you use for nozzle material?

Yes, yes and graphite.
