God I love this cover. I don't think it is either better or worse than the original I just think they are different (both awesome). That's the problem with covers, people are forever comparing them directly to the original when often that's not really very fair. The Arctic Monkeys do it there way and it sounds awesome.

Arctic Monkeys are FAR from pop, especially since they've gone in a heavier direction. A major concept of pop is that OFTEN it is produced mereley for the record company to keep raking in the cash and produce crap they know will sell. By covering a fairly obscure, yet classic song that is'nt really the typical genre the arctics wouls usually cover, it shows the band are not just in it for the money, more for themselves.

You're both right to some extent. Their new album humbug isn't pop but their earlier stuff is. It had that up beat rhythm and dance element about it that pop is based around. Over time they've veered away from that genre and as a result we now have humbug which i think is great.
