@diegoratpc When your 100 ft in the air, you want something heavy making sure that ladder don't tip. I'd rather have an over-sized truck than a under-sized one
@diegoratpc I knew your question. You coulda saved time on that one. Lol.
But to answer it: A good majority of FD's have so little money when it comes to new equipment. My Fire District got a new tanker a few weeks ago and we threw a BBQ for everyone. But money, is your answer. People want fire protection, but are not willing to pay very much for it.
no way dude Ladder 20 is stationed with Diivision 1, Rescue 6 "Spirit of Oklahoma" at 251 Lafayette St. and Squad 18 is the only rig at its house on 132 West 10th St.
All the squads in are staffed with men who are special trained in Hazmat, Squads are SOC units and each one has a hazmat van. Squad 288 is stationed with HAZMAT 1.
Rescue 6 isn't the spirit anymore, the Spirit is just a spare/ reserve mainly being used by Rescue 1 these days, but when Rescue 6 was actually staffed they were using the Spirit
@jasonbsa No its not, look in the bay spare engine 507 is right next to it. The single bay to the left is Division 1. And the large bay off to the right has spare Ladder 705 and Rescue 6.
I love the guy in the back

I believe that in 1989 Truck 20 celebrated its 100th birthday. Protecting 100 acres of SoHo for 100 years.

That ladder is so big, they should paint it black.

dont they have rescue 6

Ot really ist just 100ft?!?
Why the hell some should buy or drive such a giant truck for having a ladder just 100ft high?
diegoratpc 6 months ago
@diegoratpc Ask that question when you're on the 9th floor of a burning building and you have no way out.
tryithere 5 months ago
@tryithere
My question is why you need such an oversized truck for just 100ft - not why you need 100ft ladders.

@Hobbitchoker
Also a big truck tips over, if the leverage is right. And with a ladder, it's all about leverage.
diegoratpc 3 months ago
@diegoratpc So what your saying is...either way, everyone on that truck is fucked.
Hobbitchoker 3 months ago
@Hobbitchoker
No, I said the size of the truck does not matter, it's the leverage.
My question was and is: Why are this oversized trucks still in use, while you can build more effective and smaller ones?

Does the guy in the back have any braking power?
tryithere 1 year ago 5
@tryithere no he has a pedle on the floor that makes a little beep noise to the cab when hes ready to drive
TomTheGrom226 6 months ago
@tryithere Yes. Him and the driver are constantly communicating so they know when to brake or when to turn.
shawley93 5 months ago
@tryithere No brake power for the tiller operator.
