Sounds like something from a late-80s sci-fi movie. My consumer, generic synth has a tone that's basically a rip-off of this sound. Great stuff, wish I had the money for the real thing!
I have a D-20,and let me tell you,D-50 has alot better quality, but still a D-20/10 is capable of doing similar sounds,or maybe even better ones(Only if you have a PG-10,it is kind of hard to use interial editor).
@dvamateur Absolutely! You're welcome. Thanks for bring us the videos.
Still have my D50 purchased brand new in 1989 complete with all cards + PG1000 which I velcro'd onto the top right panel. It's worked like a charm ever since no issues. The D50 has a depth and inspirational quality modern synths lack IMO. Great midi'd to TX-816 rack + OB-8 in stereo : )
@steveehardcore I believe that GM (General MIDI) or GM2 might have soundtrack sound. Most entry level keyboards are GM compliant. For Yamaha keyboards that would be GS. Also, Logic has so many softh synths, that you should find soundtrack there. The Reason I don't even know what it does. The Logic I have installed on my Mac Mini, I know Logic because it comes from C-Lab Notator on Atari ST platform. Reason is a new thing, and I am kind of old generation, so I don't know it...
Many thanx for the reply dv,not sure i'm comfortable with a guy who is only 2 years older than me telling me that he is ' old generation ' though, lol. (I started on an Amiga 500!) Reason is an excellent user friendly audio sequencer, although its probably not very useful for you because you cant send midi out and you cant record audio into it. Thanks again. Steve.
@steveehardcore I am sorry for my ignorance mabye, but an "audio sequencer" sounds like an oxymoron to me. I mean, to me a sequencer can be either a dedicated analog one like in the early 80's and then MIDI sequencer. Sequencers just don't contain audio information. You see? I told you I am old generation. I think I might be one of the type who were shocked when Hank Marvin put abundance of echo and used tremolo on his 50's Fender Stratocaster. Just an example, becasue I like Hank Marvin
@steveehardcore I recently bought some d-50 samples for Reason from a seller on ebay. They were taken from the actual keyboard though it's a bit tough to get it to sound as good as the actual d-50 or d-550. I'm still happy with the results though.
@kronikels1 Yeah i bought some d-50 sample banks called Deep flight but while they were nice patches they still didnt have all the aftertouch nuances etc. So i just bought a real D-50 on ebay for £130 instead, and now I am a happy chappy.
The intro sounds similar to a 1987 Foreigner song

@TrainmasterCurt - I heard that too! 'I don't want to live without you', from the Inside Information album!

@123ShareVideo Yeah, those Roland D-50/D-550 sounds are purely UNIQUE!

The D50 is so great. But if I may, buying a JV1080 is a much better choice (if you already have a MIDI keyboard...) !

"If It Isn't Love" -New Edition (1987)
This sound was used in that record by the song's writers and producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis

I've heard a lot of synths trying to duplicate D50 sounds but nothing does it like the real thing!

@rg2027x I agree, the real thing is the real thing. Thanks for your comment.

They used the Roland D-50 synth on Foreigner's 1987 hit I Dont Want To Live Without You, just listen to the intro of it
