The music academy i get lessons from was having a show where they would organize bands and they would play a couple of songs. when we were working our way through this song we got to this part and i was like,"what the fuck should i do here?" the instructor we had helping us was like,"sounds pretty easy to me" and i was like, "easy for you to say lol." i was cluless until i saw this video. thanks man. the show went great. I sure impressed a lot of people. took a good 4h to get it though.

The first flam is on the two so woring back from there the one is after your first 2 hits. (which are actually the &a of 4 of the last bar) Thats for all the mucis nerds like me out there. Both versions are fantastic, but this version of the drum riff is completely different to the one you play on your original cover.

Your left hand doesn't move off the rack tom on the original, but in this one, it switches between rack and floor.

Your right hand in the original switches between your two floor toms (I think) in the original, but in this explanation version, you never touch the bigger floor tom.

Portnoys drum part is based more on triplets than this groove. Also the portnoys groove in a whole is longer and not as driving.

Dom's groove abundantly uses snare flams while portnoy uses none in his groove opting for accents on his triplets with a final double 16th note Ba-Ba.
