  • Only the greatest one could have stoped the great one..

  • Responsive and alert! You do not see a goalie make such a rapid lateral movement in today's hockey, where they stand on their focking knees and move like elephants ;D

  • what an idiot to drive his car full speed into a brick wall, fucking dumb drunk.

  • god rest your soul, Pelle:(

  • Yes you can really see the Parent influence what a shame.

  • Fuck yall hatas

  • Best goalie who ever lived

  • @debbiemos1 ken dryden is the best

  • @mikelacoste76 no roy was

  • no sympathy for a drunk driver. At least he didn't kill anyone else with his selfishness

  • @bshaun2 ok hypothetical but he didnt, any way he didnt deserve to die asshole

  • I'm gonna make a video tomorrow about the Swedish pooper.

  • I thought Pele was a Brazilian soccer player.

  • @TheTTBT haha

  • All he needed to do was go five hole. It's so funny how small the goalies pads were back then.

  • spoken like a true ignorant SoB.

  • typical finnish

  • @phille22 Nope, Pelle was Swedish.

  • @Ycampus

Show some respect for a dead man asshole. gretsky was an amazing player but he was also a little bitch. that doesn't mean i don't respect wayne, but show some respect to lindbergh

  • @cowboyzsuk81

Why should anyone respect a drunk driver ? He could have killed someone the way he was driving. Thank god it was only him. a lot of times it's not.

  • @bshaun2

it was once dude..and he was a good person who would never hurt a fly. people who are labeled as "drunk drivers" usually re-commit the crime. that was the only time he did it. even if he did do something wrong you should atleast respect the man inside the white mask. he was a good hearted fun loving person that did not deserve to die.

  • that is usually an easy goal for Gretzky

  • yeah, that really sucked that Lindbergh died.. in a car accident too.. hurried to the game.. and then..

well gretzky has always been a loser,

    Lindbergh was good

  • how abt ranger fans after the pelle linburg crash they would chant drive a porsche potvin drive a porsche.

  • It sucks that he died, especially so young. He had the potential to be an all-time great.

  • donovan you are the biggest asshole nobody deserves to die and keep making all of these brick wall jokes buddy im sure thats gonna land u a great spot in heaven yeah he was drunk but who doesnt get drunk fuck u for being an asshole go splatter ur self on a brickwall and we'll see who remembers u wat a fucking asshole he was a talent and had more than u will ever have u fucking asshole creep fuck u big time asshole

  • Children shouldn't be responding here.

  • remember something there are alot of drunk drivers out there, im sure each and everyone one us drove or knows someone who drove drunk. if you are all going to criticize pelle then you mine as well criticize your friends for doing the same mistake!

  • just because he drove drunk doesn't mean he deserved to die you cold hearted bastard

  • I did not say he derserved to die.....

I said I'm happy he didn't take any innocent lives with him.

Don'y know how that makes me "heartless"......

Yeah, it's sad when a guy dies young, but I won't make a hero out of a guy who made a stupid, selfish choice and threw it all away.

  • Sorry, bu I don't feel for a punk who climbs behind the wheel drunk and risks the innocent lives of others on the road.

I'm just glad he didn't take anyone else with him. That would have been a REAL tragedy!

  • donovan do everyone favorite shut up! regarless of driving drunk nobody deserves to die so SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • I didn't say he derserved to die.

I said I'm happy he didn't take any innocent lives with him.

  • A "punk"?

His teammates who was with him that night at the same bar said he didn´t appear to be drunk. He had had two or three drinks throughout the whole evening.

Sit down and read the biography when they release it in USA and learn something.

  • Wayne never had a chance. Pelle was a wall.

Oh wait, a wall is what he drove into!

  • remember something pelle in life was the greatest goaltender in death he came back on friday the 13th as JASON VORHESE and slashed into his haters!!!!

  • maybe you should crash into a wall ! dumbass

  • pelle was amazing.. rest in peace pelle

  • @Catepillar444 Pelle: *drinks* GO SWEDEN! (later) *drives into a wall damn Sweden lost to soviets must drive like a drunk*

    R.I.P Pelle

  • He didn't let Gretzky have 3/4 of the net, Gretzky was just in a different angle than the camera.

  • Lindbergh vs. Heatley drag race. Who ya got?

  • Had Pelle not died NHL history would have been alot different. The Flyers were kicking everyones ass back then..

  • If Wayne had put it between the legs he would have scored.

  • Luck? How Bout Positioning? he gave Gretz nothing to shoot at....While all these goalies of today drop to that default "Butterfly" flop setting, he stood up, and dropped Only when he needed to..

Flyers havent had a Cup caliber goalkeeper since, and that Includes that lumbering lummox Hextall......Sorry to all my Philly bros but, Fiercely competitive tho he was, Hexy was just a SERIOUS step backwards from Lindbergh

  • nothing to shoot at? Look at 0:13. He gave him 3/4 of the net and got lucky.

  • Esposito used to give HUGE 5 holes to salivating shooters only to take it away at the Very last second for the save.... The 3/4 of the net you speak of was open when 99 was 3/4 of the way in....

  • look at 0:12 there is no way he could have closed his 5 hole. he was way off balance and Wayne hd that bit to his right.

  • to both of you. you cant judge from this position of the camara of where an opening was. you have to be at ice level seeing throught the pucks eyes ( not literally tho) Great save

  • Nice goals, no sound?

  • lucky

  • Pause it at 13 seconds...Look it that FIVE HOLE..OMG..Now I know how Wayne racked up all those points despite missing lol

  • You were right, the 5 hole was wide open, Wider than i ever seen. But that was the goalies style back in the 80 's gretzky was just able to beat that style.I also dont think it was open for that long, it was a replay so he couldve just closed it just as gretzky was going up

  • Classic moment

  • wow! Pelle we Miss you!

    / Love SWEDEN

  • Canada too.

    Pelle is remembered.

  • man he was good

  • greatly missed, R.I.P. he would have gotten the flyers 3 more stanley cups, it was tragic what happended, i wasent even born though but when i watched it on the flyers dvd i cried...

  • I was at that game. He stopped him on more than one breakaway. Philadelphia won 7-5. I've never heard a crowd more excited. Standing ovations for icings and face-off wins. Awesome game.

  • how is that a racist comment. a caucasian cant make a racist comment about a fellow caucasion.

  • go dude you have deafeted the great one!

  • I remember hearing that Lindbergh died, after he was intoxicated and crashing his Porsche. Growing up in the prarie provinces you had to cheer for the Oilers, but I loved Lindbergh.

  • he was one of the best ever... sade

  • one of my idols as Goalies

  • pelle died way 2 early he would probaly won a stanley cup or 2 rip pelle

  • pelle > roy > the rest

  • Greatest swedish goaltender ever..

Henrik Lundqvist is the next one.

  • Pelle means glown in finnish :D

  • Heh, that's right: he was a great goalkeeper, but "pelle" anyway.

  • ... and its clown, with c :)

  • I don't know what language you're trying to write

  • Brick Wall > Pelle

  • watch it don't go drinking or driving radeo

  • pelle lindbergh came back to life on friday the 13th as JASON!!!! pelle rulez

  • LOL i agree. its a shame pelle had to die, his talent was unmeasured, he was taught by the best, so everybody pelle is the BEST!! you look at how great hasek is pelle would have been much better

  • PELLE LINDBERGH was the GREATEST GOALIE that never was. all we can do is speculate we have our agreements and disagreements. he wasvery talented and simply taught by the best. bernie parent

  • Pelle was great goalkeeper, no doubt about that, but in my opinion he really was (i mean existed). No, I'm just jokin' :) I have bad english myself.

  • lol

  • @spartn316 even thought you left this comment 3 years ago....i agree with you!! His death was tragic.

  • man....such an amazing goaltender....they've never been able to fill that void...

  • May I add that Smith letting in 6 goals in 4 games vs. the Oilers in the 83 final was amazing and he gets my nod as BEST GOALIE OF THE 80's. A team like the Oilers scored 424 goals in 80 games (5.3 per game) + in those 83 playoffs before final (74G in 12 Games for 6.2 avg). Now Smith shuts down the Oilers, allowing 1.5 goals per game. See the BIG DIFFERENCE here you morons? Smith was great in the 80's. Nt just in 83.

  • Why do you have to be so god damn arrogant? I never said Pelle was "the best goalie of the 80's". Read my post cuz. All I said was that AT THE TIME- 1985- Pelle was without a doubt the best goalie in the NHL. Smith was awesome, yes, but at no point did "best goalie of the 80's" come up. Quit be being so ignorant.

  • What are your fools talking about? Tretiak as best goalie of the 80's? Have you forgotten Billy Smith of the Islanders? Gee the guy only won 4 Stanley Cups and "only" let in SIX goals in four games against the Oilers in 83 final. Gee he cant be considered the best can he? Tretiak was great yes. In 1983 Soviet All-Stars vs. NHL clubs, Tretiak had an ALL-STAR DEFENCE in front of him. Gee that doesn't hurt either eh? You phonies know nothing about hockey.

  • the great one vs the great one

    your ma boy Pelle

  • Flyers would have won the Cup in 1986 and 1987 if he had lived, they may have also won it in 1989.

  • The Flyers might have well won a cup with Lindbergh, but let's not forget they made the Finals in 1985 and lost to the Oilers in 5, so they always would have had those guys to contend with. I don't think they would've lost in the FIRST round to the Rangers in 1986 with Lindbergh. And Edmonton did not make the Finals that year. That might've been the year they won it. He was a great guy.

  • Pella was not good. Pelle was swedish!

  • You're a finn, why am i not surprised by that comment.

  • pelle was GREAT!

  • And being Swedish made him a bad goalie..? He was probably the first Northern European #1 goalie in the NHL, waaay before Finns like Kiprusoff and Lehtonen came. You can't really say e.g. Kari Takko was better than Lindbergh? :) Mutta eipä noita ruottalaisia ykkösmokkeja ole Pellen jälkeen ollutkaan. :)

  • Tretiak was not the best ever!!! not even close... He played against sub par opponents. He LOST the 72 series! If he dominated the NHL( Im saying if!!) maybe he can be considered to be one of the best

  • No, HE didn't lose the series, it was the team. And hey, when teams from Soviet league played against teams from NHL in 70's and 80's, Soviet teams won more games. If you don't believe me, I can give you sources, if you don't want to believe me, that's a different story.

  • What a player!!!! I love this goaltender.

    I agree with flyersfan85;

If Pelle diden't die the Flyers would have won 3 or 4 Cups in there History. One in 1985-1986 and another in 1986-1987.

  • Tatomka, Actualy Pelle would of been the best goalie in the NHL, But in the 80's the best goalie was Vladislav Tretiak, The Russian goalie, best known from the miracle on ice.

Oh well.. Pelle was still one of the best

  • Very good point. It's such a shame the Soviets prevented Tretiak from playing in the NHL. Had he played in the league, it would have left no doubt that he was probably the best goalie of all time (and he would have been the Habs goalie over Roy too). Plus, he taught Belfour and Hasek in Chicago. Definitely my bad omitting him.

  • tragic death on a great goalie

  • Had he lived, he would have been in the hall of fame.

  • Pelle is sick too bad he died, its a shame.

  • Pelle was very good but this save was lucky. The 5-hole was open so wide you can drive a truck between those pads.

  • i disagree! every goalie has luck once in awhile,

  • hahahahahaha gretzky didnt stand a chance against the best r.i.p. pelle

  • Yeh of course any excuse by a flyer!

  • Excuse?? Read comments by any hockey writer from the 80's. When he died Pelle was the best goalie in the world on a great young team that had won the presidents trophy out of nowhere a year before. Glen Sather himself said that Pelle and Grant Fuhr were clearly the two best goalies in the league by a mile.

  • we flyer fans don't need no excuse

  • If Pelle diden't die the Flyers would have won 3 or 4 Cups in there History. One in 1985-1986 and another in 1986-1987.

  • God he was gonna be great
