I believe he has put a homemade ring modulator or circuit bent under the pickguard. A sort of bulit-in electronic distortion.

Great! So much energy. One thing has always puzzled me though. What is the connection between ordering a hamburger ala "Burger King" and paranoia? Is the orderer paranoid that the burger will ,in fact have pickles, even though he/she requested none? DEVO please answer.

The "hold the pickles, hold the lettuce" part is Burger King's old slogan. It went "Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don't upset us. All we ask is that you let us serve it your way."
