@gdrugg2006 oh god, you brought me back to here when id tried so hard to forget about it... I was interested in the head tbh but after seeing this "hint of tallent" here decided to ignore all that you tube has to offer and find out myself......
The results - yeah its a cool head, nice bluesy / rocky amp that ticks all the boxes and was a good second hand addition to my amps...
I dunno why people always complain about the TSL Series to me it sounds great, like every amp you have to find the perfect settings for each guitar '' and each guitar sounds very different on the TSL I find
Anyone know where i can get one under £400 im skint broke and they do pop up every now and then at that price but i need one now as my band has a series of gigs and a tour coming up
I have one and ifs KILLER!!!! i use it through a moded 16 ohm only 1960a reissue from early ninties. You cant make this amp sound bad you forgot to mention the "deep" switch on the left hand side that fattens the lead an crunch to make it bone crushingly heavier. Seriously good amp for any style player.
Hey man, thanks so much for the review. I was kinda on the fence about this one since I was aiming for something a little more classic, but for the price it can be had for it sounds great. Plus, it seems like it can dial in those classic tones just as well as any other marshall can plus other stuff.. crunch channel 80s rock sound huh? I like that Dokken you threw in there haha. Exactly the sound I'm looking for. Also, thanks for really showing the reverb, I play surf a lot too so it helped me.
Damn you guys are crazy. I got this head off craigslist for 500$ and the cab for 300$ (jcm 1960) And then i found one in L.A. after i bought mine for 250. We were gona buy it but were to late. You guys gotta look harder! Craiglist!!
wow i almost forgot what my TSL sounded like stock lol. i had mine modded a few years ago. even if you just put a better output transformer on it like a mercury magnetics, which is what mine has, and a MM choke, i believe it will give it more clarity and bottom end.
i never ever use the mid shift to me it sounds like crap, but i almost always leave the deep switch in, with the bass around 3.
as far as feedback, mine can be a bit noisy on the lead channel, but not on the crunch channel.
@msabaseball1293 YES DUDE ABSOLUTLY, this thing is my dream head and I cant find it anwhere, save for a few people selling it for $1500 and up USED. For $750 GO BUY IT!!!!!!!!!
