The Rain, the Park and Other Things." Kornfeld enviou as fitas para a MGM que lançou o single no final de 1967. A canção tomou os EUA chegando ao número dois na parada de sucessos vendendo em torno de um milhão de cópias.
This sounds too polished for a raw performance...not that they aren't capable of delivering a quality piece but really? Doesn't have the sound of a live performance. I could be wrong. Nonetheless, I liked it.
My friend had this "live" record by the Cowsills. It was just the studio recordings from the regular records with a bunch of canned applause slapped on! Ha ha ha!!
For those interested in the whereabouts of John Cowsill, he's now a touring member of The Beach Boys (with Mike Love & Bruce Johnston). I think Mike's son is also part of the group. I just saw them last week. John can hit those high notes only Carl Wilson (RIP) could do properly.
@sampson1959 Susan, Paul, and Bob are now headlining the band. I don't know if it's right to call them "the original members" because there were seven original members; Bob, Bill, Barry, John, Paul, Susan, and their mother Barbara. Barbara, Barry, and Bill have all passed away as well as their father Bud. What's amazing about this group is that they played their own instruments and sang their own lyrics. There was no backup band or vocalists, they were it. Their harmonies were fantastic.
@sampson1959 More like "well past 50"... I was a kid when this song came out and I'm past 50 now. loll Always loved that song...something so sweet about it.
This song should have been the #1 song from 1967. What a classic!!
