gosh its been a while for me to comment on him i met so many years ago he was a very sweet man we had a very funny first meeting and well I miss him he was cool
RIP Dave Carpenter...Love the way he played and man he could play so many styles! That's why he is on hundreds of recordings! Never knew him but he seemed like he would have been a friend...You will be missed but not forgotten. Your legacy and life's work will live on here on YouTube...
I had the esteem pleasure of seeing Dave play with Allan Holdsworth and Gary Novak at the Catalina Bar and Grill in Hollywood! As great as the performances were, I felt like Dave was constricted by the compositions, as this video obviously proves his incredible slap and pop ability! Dave was a master of ALL things bass and his presence will emanate throughout the annals of jazz, fusion and music in general...God Bless!
@stonepolismusic I saw him their too with the addition of Alan Pasqua. It was in 97 approx one month after Tony Williams passing. THEY WERE AWESOME. DAVE WAS TOO COOL .
acabo de enterarme de la perdida de este gran valor dentro de la música!! mis más sentidos pésames... Dave Carpenter Vivira en nuestra memoria y en su música!!
i discovered dave carpenter maybe two weeks ago, through a performance video where he played with allan holdsworth. his playing, accompaniment and solos, just blows me away. i myself play bass too, and this guy is already a huge inspiration for me. r.i.p.
This dude just kept showing up on stuff I'd buy! God bless the men who devote a lifetime to music for music's sake. Music warriors have s special place....RIP Dave.
I met Dave at a Rob Mullins gig at Bon Appitete in Westwood! Man I'm getting old too! He was a very sweet person and a unbelievable bass player that I will miss greatly. He must be playing in 1st position in heaven right now.
I asked my brother Kevin if he could put a Jazz group together for my wedding reception back in 1992. He got me Dave Carpenter on bass Ron Stout on trumpet and Kevin Tullius on drums in my living room. I will never forget the day! My brother and Dave are both gone now! and I will miss the both of them for the rest of my life. God Bless! Rob Tullius
Carp and I were on Buddy's band together in the 80's. Always great playing and great hangs on the road! I was shocked and deeply saddened by his sudden passing.
I knew Dave from his work in Free Flight and with Mike Garson. Dave was not only a great bass player but an outstanding person, with that warm smile and that great musical charm. He will be missed.
