  • Best Witch ...EVER

  • One of the best villains ever.

  • Oh, my... I never noticed this before, but Glinda is trolling them so hard... xD

  • i did notice about the smoke had a door under gound

  • Look at her interview

  • thumbs up if u notice the door that the smoke comes from and where she disapears at 1:47

  • In fact, the the actress (Hamilton) got burned and went to hospital after that scene, with the vanishing and fire

  • @robblaureles85 suffered a second degree burn on her face and third on her hand :(

  • @robblaureles85 Which is why they used take one, which is messed up. They couldn't get it to do it again because she caught on fire and wouldn't do it again. It was between take one, or take two, and we all know what happened in take two.

  • I wonder how they make her vanish like that with real fire burst effects

  • @ Gigglepud @ oliimrie11 yes ikr I saw wicked yesterday :)

  • Margaret Hamilton was one in a million.

  • Comparing this to Wicked... I am truly speechless at how there may be a side story :O

  • hate the good witch. the wicked witch is amazing if youve seen wicked

  • If the Wicked Witch "has no power in Oz" and therefore "can't attend [Dorothy] here and now as [she'd] like" why in Hades did Glinda even remind her of the malfriggin' slippers in the first place?! Maybe the wee-otch woulda just left without a certain vendetta against Dorothy had the "good witch of the north" kept her trap shut!

  • @TinoAnnie Glinda the Good Witch of the North wanted to teach Dorothy a lesson.

A movie needs to have a villain, they provide a bit of action.

  • What was she even gonna do with those slippers? Teleport to a different century?

  • @steenbeans Maybe the ruby slippers can do more than just transporting you from point A to B.

The Witch even said it herself, Only she knows how to use them.

  • She got badly burned after one of the takes of this scene. She had copper in her makeup and as the pyro (flames) go off, she was too close and it started to burn away at her face and hands... Actors nowadays, utter useless in comparison!

  • I've always wondered why they called them slippers when they were obviously shoes.

  • @methesupergirl They are called slipper because they do not have laces and you don't have to tie them. In other words, you can just "slip" them on.

  • Great Hollywood !

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, what a coincidence that the Wicked Witch of the East had the exact same shoe size as Dorothy!

  • @SilencedByGreed Maybe Glinda has the magical powers to resize the shoes to fit Dorothy, considering all the magical abilities we've seen her do.

  • @saolili I want that power! My 11w feet would love that!

  • @SilencedByGreed That's quite a big feet you have there.

  • @saolili Don't I know it.

  • Have you or has someone you love been injured by a falling house which was caused by the wreckless conduct of others?? Has someone stolen your ruby slippers??

At the law offices of Wheecan, Lyon, Steelwell, we can help you receive the compensation you deserve.

    Call 1-800-529-7848 That's 1-800-LAW-SUIT

    Don't Wait!! Call NOW!!

    "Se Habla Munchkin"!!

  • god now that i'm older dorothy gives me dirty thoughts xD

  • the best character to play in a movie is always the villain, witches rule! they are the best characters to play. Eventhough I love Dorothy, I love the Wicked Witch, she is amazing!

  • It's so sad what happened to Elphaba.

  • as a now 48 year old man I always thought my parents hated me, now i know it for sure! I was six!! it frightened the living shit out of me in 1970! However years later when all grown up-ish and my ex's Mother had a go at me I got to use the classic line................just because a house fell on your sister don't take it out on me!

  • CHILLS....to this day, i get chills...

  • Im trying out for the witches part in my schools play ! I thing i would make it!

  • poor elpheba

  • One of my favourite movie characters (The Wicked Witch Of The West) and one of my favourite scenes!! "I'll get you, my pretty and your little dog too!!"

  • after sawing how wicked really was, glenda kinda annoys me for provoking Elphaba in here

  • @Alexaty5 This isn't Wicked. -.-

  • @LaneCormier i know ;) i didnt say it was

  • @Alexaty5 Okay then. xD sorry for being a psycho .xP

  • @LaneCormier dont worry hahaha, we all are sometimes ;)

  • This is an evil, evil movie.

  • Do you know that the woman who ended up being cast as the witch was in fact a school teacher, not an actress ... and she was voted #4 greatest ever villian by the AFI. Quite an achievement!

  • @JokinglySerious Yeah! I read that she had a profound love for children, and was concerned that the role would scare them.

  • @xenophile84 And pretty sure thstd what she ended up doing lol...thats her teaching career over!

  • Fuck! The part were those feet curl up and slide under the house is the creepiest shit I ever saw as a 6 year old

  • @The51239

In terms of Wicked the musical. No. They were best friends but circumstances forced them apart.

  • can someone please reply does glinda hate elphaba?

  • @The51239 no, in the musical no they were best friends circumstances tore em apart

  • I KNEW she a sadistic bitch! Finally, the truth comes out. Thank you, Cracked. Now, about that extra Z in the title...

  • The witch is understandably angry after smug contempt is shown to her in the face of losing her sister. As for the red shoes - don't those Munchkins have a law against looting the deceased?

  • Question: If the Ruby Slippers protect whoever is wearing them how come the Wicked Witch Of The East is killed when Dorothy's house falls on top of her?

  • @WickedMusicalBuffalo FACT the shoes only protect up to 5 tons of weight and the house was probably much Heavier

  • Wicked Witch of the West: "OMG, my sister! :'( "

    Glynda: "I just came. :D "

  • poor wicked witch of the west... she didn't even seem bad at all

  • WHAT THE HELL DO THE RUBY SLIPPERS DO????????

  • Cracked

  • "You have no power here!"

Then the Witch of the West explodes into red smoke and fire.

  • "Their magic must be very powerful, or she wouldn't want them so badly." Either that or, you know, they belonged to her (very recently) dead sister and were hers by right.

  • @MrClickity Yeah, god forbid she want something to remember her sister by. Incidentally, Glinda is a sadistic bitch. It's pretty bad to do that to a stranger, to do that to an old friend? Fuck.

  • @MurasakiTsukimaru Don't get me started about how she roped Dorothy into that ridiculous quest for no good reason. Dorothy could have gone home at any time but Glinda opted to hide that information until Dorothy was finished doing her dirty work.

Hell, all the "wicked" witch did was try to avenge her sister's death. The "good" witch mocked someone in the middle of their mourning, stole their family heirloom, and forced an innocent girl into taking a life.

  • @MrClickity The Cracked article covers it pretty well.

  • @MurasakiTsukimaru Which one? Heh, I've seen at least 2 talking about how much of a colossal bitch she is.

  • Comment removed

  • @MurasakiTsukimaru The amazing thing is nobody seems to question it in the story. They just take her word for it.

  • curse you CRAAAAAACKED!!

  • she still scares the crap out of me. sshe is my biggest fear! no joke

  • The wicked witch sure did know how to make a entrance AND an exit! wooooo! anytime she made an appearance she shut everything down.

  • The Munchkins scream before the witch appears because the Munchkins know that the explosion and smoke mean the witch is coming! They knew about the other wicked witch, too! And wouldn't anyone scream if there was an explosion around them?!

  • i like Wicked. But dam it you can't beat a real wicked witch!

  • Words cannot describe how much I loved this movie when I was little.

  • @Jacquibim Words cannot describe how much I love this movie now.

  • Elphaba has ADD... First she's upset over her sister, and vowing revenge against Dorothea, then she's easily distracted by the slippers. :D

  • this has been my favorite movie like for ever! I still always cheer when she first appears out of the smoke

  • I loved this part is soo cool

  • where is the witch of the South? :D

  • Its Elphaba!!!!!

  • I love her shrieky laugh!!! Awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • Love the Wicked Witch's entrance and exit...state of the art, stage effects no CGI!

  • @BidiManson Which is why it is a well remembered effect that still stands out to this day! That smoke probably wouldn't have been very good for you to breathe in I imagine! Health and safety would have a nightmare these days.

  • i love the way she looks up when glinda say "begone before someone drops a house on you"

  • One of the most amazing scenes in cinema history. I saw this movie a thousand times and every time the Wicked Witch appears it gives me the same feeling of "childhood terror". A piece of art!

  • just before the red smoke on the left u can see the witch bending down swaying her broom. Then the smoke comes and quickly moves.

  • I like it when the wicked witch of the west appears its funny

  • That fucking wicked green bitch used to terrify me as a kid...she still makes me feel uncomfortable. I have to admit, it was well done and I always really liked this movie.

Btw, has anyone ever tried playing the movie with an album of pink floyd? I heard once that there was a link between the two...is that just an urban myth?

  • when the explosion of the witches exit hapoend i yelled KA-BOOM!!

  • Best Intro and Best Villain, Margaret Hamilton Rocked................Only Darth Vader tried to immadate this scene..............

  • Like whether or not in the cyclone miss gulch turns into the witch of the east or the west did Dorothy dream up the whole thing or not what happened to miss gulch the film was shot entirely inside despite the fact the film is showcased as being outside in this fairy tale land did a munchikin commit suicide dorothys hair changes a lot there are a lot of glitches like the begining of this video the mucnhkins already screaming and running before the wicht comes jeez im an oz junkie.

  • in the book the good witch of the north did not know of there power but glinda the witch of the south knew of there power and there capabillity and also this glinda in the film is a mesh of both beautiful red headed/strawberry blonde regal elegant like the glinda in the book but meshed up with the other slightly scatter brained and kooky and wacky like cinderellas fairy god mother. So yeah this movie has so many plot holes I don't even know where to begin........

  • Another FEMA rep bites the dust.

  • What an awesome witch! She's the most witchiest witch in all of witchdom!!

  • Her broom is a bit limp.

  • Elphaba rocks!!!!

  • Bravo .....Mortel délire et sympathique réalisation !...si tu souhaites voir, par chez moi aussi une vidéo pour halloween depuis aujourd'hui ......le rêveur

  • Glinda was a bitch, stealing those shoes and putting them on an innocent young girl target. The witch of the west had good reason to be furious.

  • @chnalvr Um I get your point and as an wizard of oz fan maybe Glinda was not evil or a bitch maybe she was protecting her all along and keep in mind that both the witches int the book were meshed up as one in this film and the witch of the north n the book had no idea of there power and glinda the witch of the south knew the cappability of the magic shoes maybe glinda was protecting dorothy the whole time I know mad tv made a parody of glindas semi irresponsible lesson to dorothy.

  • @chnalvr Um if Glinda was truly a bitch also she wouldnt have send in the snow with her magic wand in the deadly poppie field scene she saved Dorothy and her friends so she was a good witch kind of like a garudian angel or fairy god mother towards Dorothys dream and journey whether she dreamed it or not is another topic of debate I think Dorothy really went there and like I said Glinda protected Dorothy throught the whole oz ordeal.

  • @chnalvr and last but not least as a wizard of oz fan the movie makers wanted to mesh up the good witches and make them as one because there was only so much time and keep in mind as groundbreaking as this movie was there wasnt enough time or money for two good witches or the elabrote qaudling country were glinda is from in the book version and glinda as you said semmed like a bitch for saying you couldve been home as soon as you got here in two seconds and put on those magical shoes......con

  • I have always felt sorry for the Wicked Witch of the West, even before seeing Wicked. She lost her sister and she just wanted Dorothy to stay out of her way.

  • @Miunni I 100% agree with you. The Wicked Witch of the West gets a bum rap. Look at little deeper. If two "good" people killed my sister, even by accident and then stole from the dead body, I would be enraged. I think most folks would too. You are right, Miunni.

  • Margaret Hamilton did a great job playing the Wicked Witch of the West. The voice was done perfectly.

  • @ 0:49 the wicked witch's broom is touching the ruby slippers. In the next shot, when the slippers disappear she's nowhere to be seen.

Then @ 0:54 she magically appears to say "there gone"

Also @ 1:19 she calls the good witch "Linda" instead of "Glinda".

  • @bruno2260 Also notice that the munckins start screaming before the witch appears.

  • Did you guys know that during the filming of this scene, the wicked witch "played by Margaret Hamilton" got badly injured. At the end of this scene where she disappeared in a ball of smoke and fire, the flames were set too high and she was burned so badly that she had to be immediately rushed to the hospital afterwards!

  • my favourite charcter is the Wicked witch of the west

  • Elphaba rocks. Its sad how misunderstood she is even when she tries to do good. Shes only mad in this scene because dorothy took the only thing left of her sister, and Glinda's lying to Dorothy about their "very powerful magic."

  • @TheEquus92 The novel "Wicked" is merely good fanfic that got published and made into a musical. It has nothing to do with the character in this film.

  • @apsara81cloud Tis true. However do the books line up with the events in Wicked better? The Event's in the "good fanfic" don't line up with the movie at all in some places. Not that I hold that as a weakness.

  • That was the last scene shot on the set, not the others. she was acually burned when she went back down the shoot in the floor. by the pirot techs.

  • @9164poptart Totllay agree. NOTHING tops The Wizard of Oz. This was a phenomenon for it's time. No one had seen anything like it and that's why it's the best family movie of all time and a huge favourite. Avatar is nothing special because we're used to those special effects and CGI. Also the story is rubbish.

  • Best entrance in movie history!!!

  • @fflybz That's for sure!

  • I really, really wish I could make dramatic entrances like that

  • Comment removed

  • Does anyone know what they used for the smoke? It looks like a flare

  • daj meni moje papuche!!! najjache

  • Ever since I saw Wicked in London I cannot view this movie in the same way. I find myself on the Wicked Witch's side :P

  • ELPHABA OWNS EVERYONE <333

  • I dont care what no body says the wicked witch Had the Strongest most standout roll..and she is wearing the heck out of that cape hat and black dress..notice the black matching pumps..and hand back attached on her waist..gather shoulders..and her cape and dress has a train that drags on the floor..You go wicked witch with yo bad self!

  • You can't compare this to avatar. How can you do that?

  • 1939!

this film is better than avatar ;)

  • @ArusArczes1 with all do respect i dont thinck there will be a movie that will top Avatar not evan previous ones

  • @malgk89 Nothing can top Avatar

    in terms of utter junk.

  • @ArusArczes1

    it has better effexts

  • @ArusArczes1 Lol, your comment is so true!

    Old is gold!

  • Supposedly, they are remaking the movie to be released next year. I can't wait!

  • Glinda:be gone before somebody drops a house on you

Wicked Witch of the West:*looks up careful* very well

LOL XD that part always cracked me up when i was little the witch scared me though

  • and remember when dorothy and the others go to the wizard and he tells them his request....bring me the broomstick of the witch of the west!....he NEVER says wicked witch of the west.......

  • I find it so weird that Glinda is smiling all the time as if she knows there's no real danger. "It's just Elphaba... we went to school together. She's harmless mostly. Teehehehee, but I'm not gonna let this little girl know that."

  • Well, you have to remember: She says that you have no power here. So obviously Glinda is in control! Hence the smiling! =)

  • @villanueva41 lol yeah well cause she knows Elphaba won't lay a hand on her (Glinda) anyway. I hate the fact that Glinda gave away the ruby slippers when they wasnt even really hers to give away cause they rightfuly belong to Elphaba since it was her magic that gives the ruby slippers their power and no shitz they powerful

  • @villanueva41 I think she's sadistic.

  • @IHartPie101

    Sadistic Personality Disorder.

  • @columbusmozart That's what I meant.

  • @columbusmozart EXACTLY like Bellatrix Lestrange

  • its Glindas Fault for bringing up the Ruby Slippers

  • yeah pmsl! The person who plays the witch is a GOOD actress. She deserves the part.

  • Would you believe Hamilton was a teacher before she made movies like this?! Boy those kids probably never acted bad to avoid this side of her xD.

Although after watching this I never understood some things in Wicked like her setting the Scarecrow on fire. I know it was part of a plan to pretend to be dead and live together in peace with him as he was once a prince she loved, but comparing the movie to that can kinda confuse you at some moments though.

    Fantastic story nonetheless.

  • @balrog13571 Err well that's not what happened in the book so....

  • this scene seems different when u see wicked

  • wow

!!!!!!!!!!! i just did a dance concert about wizard of oz im craving to watch it yall! luv wizard of oz!

  • Glinda The Good Witch is beautiful and sweet.

  • The Wicked Witch of The West is a psycho!

  • I'd say she's on a par with Heath Ledger's Joker for best psychotic movie villain.

  • This reminds me of like the 80s and 90s when Air Jordans got so expensive and kids were getting jacked for their shoes. They jacked poor Wicked Witch of the East for her shoes. Ghet-to! LOL!

  • If someone stole the shoes off my dead sister's body, I'd be pissed. There would be blood.

  • I Like how the good witch of the North keeps her cool.

  • LOVE THISW WITCH!

  • Talk about make an entrance..no wonder they all hit ground..i would have too. LOL..she scared the day lights out of me as a kid when i first saw this..but somehow she was my favorite charactor..love that black cap outfit and the hat is broke just right..lol shes still remains my favortie..but also love how pretty the glenda was even tho shes actually older than the wicked witch..the bad witch was only in her 30s but glenda was 53. same age as i am lookin young. so 53 aint old.

  • Even before "Wicked" and all that stuff, I always felt Glinda was more wicked! She enjoyed busting the witch of the west's chops! lol

  • She got burned so many times, during this scene her cape caught on fire. And her make up contained copper so it heated up and left her with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Poor Margaret

  • And they had to take it off with alcohol, can't even imagine how bad the pain was....

  • She had an on the job accident with the smoke and fire. Her make-up had copper in it, and it burned her face pretty badly. It's wierd how Idina and Margaret Hamilton had an elevator accident.

  • i also dont see why they couldn't cut... she runs off stage... and then have the soke and fire... insted of just droping her...

  • -_- its more magical to see the whole effect, certainly stunned me as a kid, a cut would ruin the scene entirely

  • MISTAKE # 01: AUDIO PROBLEM; Before The Witch Come Out, Someone Screams.

  • Well the smoke was already halfway out

when the scream is heard so I wouldn't

    consider it a mistake

  • i never got it til wicked was created but when the wizard tells the 4 bring me the broomstick of the witch of the west..he never said wicked...that should have gave us a clue that not everything was right in OZ:>

  • In my opinion, this is one of the best introductions for a villain in a movie. Who can forget the munchkins running as this huge cloud of orange smoke explodes and the Wicked Witch is standing there? I love this scene!

  • after dorothy gets the slippers, the wicked witch reaches for it and gets shocked....that scene is missing somehow?

  • that scene is near the end of the movie when Dorothy has been captured. it's right before the Wicked Witch turns over the big hourglass.

  • they are making a new wizzard of oz and my cousin is going to be the wicked witch. lol xD i cant wait to see it because i've always thought she could be the wicked witch haha

  • poor margarat got toasted in this scene because of a faulty trapdoor or something :( at least she was alright

  • toasted... lmao! So mean!

  • why do you think her scream ended so suddenly
