Just wanted to drop a note to let you know that the car looks great. I'm currently in the process of restoring a '79, and had to chuckle at your title: Almost complete. If there is anything that I have learned so far, it is that an MG is never complete, it only rests a little bit. Good luck with the suspension. It's time for me to replace a head gasket...off to the garage.
Thanks..suspension is back together, new bearings and brakes. And you are correct..There is ALWAYS something, I didnt even think about the title, was just happy to get the carbs synched and varnish removed from jets. Hope to see a video of your restoration. If you need anyone to bounce thoughts off, let me know. Hope to post another video in the next couple of days. Good Luck and keep me posted...Rob
Thanks Terry. I have owned the car for 16 years. I have done very little bodywork, except for rubbing color out. The engine work was accomplished over the course of about a year, when time and money would allow. Sadly after the rebuild, I only drove the car about 75 miles, could never get it tuned correctly. I guess with age comes wisdom, for it is tuned, but I found front shock absorbers leaking and bushing worn/pitted and corroded. New Front End is in process..Will keep posted..Thanks again!
Hi - thanks for the reply. I have started stripping the Engine only the Pistons / Crank Shaft / Bigends to remove from the Block. Spoken to a mate and he had a look,he say's looks as if the Piston Bores will have to been Re-homed which is not bad, but when I take the Block the Garage might say it may need a Re-bore, and then I would need to invest in new Pistons. Ilkie people say you never know what you find until everting is stirped down, and that is always more than what you think.
Hi I also have an 1974 MGB GT, looks like you have a nice car, have you restored all the car your self? If so how long as it took you to get to where you are now ? You must keep us all updated with the work you do on the Mg using Youtube. Best of luck. Terry.
Nice car!!!! I'm also restoring a 1974 mgb gt. It has a ferrari exhaust, and a rebuilt engine.
