I read the book enemy at the gates, and this movie takes about 2 pages out of it and significantly takes it out of proportion. The beginning scene where troops are crossing the volga is about the only part of the movie though that corresponds with the book.

peaple think that Stalingrad was the turning point but this is false - the 6. german army was destroyed ,bu tit was "just" an army - about 250k man, and only 90k surrended. The real turnover was the russian operations Kutuzov and Rumjancev, right after the german failiure at Kursk.

Some! argue that that Britain was close to war with Russia due to their invasion of Finland. Britain and Germany against Russia, A frighteningly interesting thought, but this isnt my view... just the view of some historians out there. from my soviet history from what I know (I looked this up by the way) Joseph Stalin probably was going to fight with Hitler because they signed a treaty not to invade The Soviet Union but Hitler betrade him and invaded the USSR anyway. So Stalin ended up fighting with the allies.

Axis means "Bad Guys" in war. So Allies is "Good Guys", and Axis is "Bad Guys". Mostly used in World Wars.

they call it axis because Germany, Italy, and Japan all signed an Axis Treaty that they would never attack each other. Basically they would become allies. Soviet Union was not in this....Germany attacked them because well the Soviet Union is the Soviet Union. this would end up costing hitler. Soviet Union changed sides and the allies put it on them. British, American, and Soviet Forces dominated the rest of the way beginning in 1944 when America joined the war. Anymore questions?

We owe it to our fathers, of any nationality, who gave their lives for freedon not to bicker and whine at each other.... were historians here (or at least semi) and we have to see beyond negative feelings towards other countries. we were in it together, we'll comment together, as allies.

Alot of people are coming on here attempting to justify a specific country winning WW2, and its simply impossible. You cant say it was Russia that won WW2 because if it wasn't for Hitlers decision to invade the soviet union things may have turned out utterly different. Realistically most people know that Hitler started WW2 and Hitler ended it. The allies were in it together, we relied on each other and we depended on one another, and in the end we can all stand up and take credit together.

Im Brazilian, my grandpha fought for the Brazilian Army (FEB) in Italy against Germans and Italians in WWII. So why dont give the credits for the Battle of Monte Castello, where the Brazilians were victorious? And about the Australians, and Mexicans? Are they forgoten? I watch the HC and they show an american soldier killing 50 iraqians with a .30 in open field.Nobody belives in that.

The Russians are the main owner of WWII.They fight since the beginning, were taken by surprise, won the greatest and most important battle os WWII,Stalingrad,and defeated 75% of German troops in Europe and were hardly invaded.And the Americans?Those cowards pratically entered in Europe in June 6 1944,fighting against a week and tired german army, getting 3 years to get prepared for the war,they were NEVER invaded! Everyone in the world knows that USSR and England are the trully owners of WWII

But they really helped out in the pacific against the japs. China would have taken care of them though. USA always late for their wars and getting all the spoils coming out without even breaking a sweat.

however had the germans had more men they might have been able to beat them and you cant give credit to only the russians dude... if hte British had lost to the Liffawafe then germany could then focus all on Russian instead of 2 places at 1 time and then history as we know it could be diffrent and you can only hold off wave after wave of people for so long.....
