Firstly there was no programming in this just a port sniffing application then entering a default username and password. Accessing a network via using a port scanner/sniffing application is not hacking anyone can do it. A lot of hacking consists of user made applications originally in perl and others.

Usually if its a wireless network just go to START>RUN>CMD> type ipconfig > PRESS ENTER > Read the Default Gateway number thats the ip u use he seems to be using a sniffer to get the Ips of the network he's connected to

This may have worked with an ancient DSL modem but would not work now days by any standards for 2 reasons. No dsl modems I have ever seen accepts connections on port 80.. or any other port for that matter unless you have remote login enabled. In which case someone would not have admin/admin for userpass combo. This vid is just someone logging into their own computer and has enabled remote login most likely

True but you can check what modem/router vendors are were most commonly sent for clients ordering service. The manuals for those products are freely available with ports for web interface. I think th ISP asks you for a password and sets the device for you but there are situations when you need to reset the modem and the password becomes default and you can trial and error on some of them. There is a good point in this video.

This is an exploit which can be used, if you go scan enough ip's on the internet you will eventually find someone with an unprotected/default router, which allows a remote login.

There are two simple ways to stop this:

A) Put a new, non-default password on your router login. This will be in advanced settings somewhere.

B) Only allow login from local network; This should be another option in advanced settings, usually enable/disable remote login or similar wording. disable it.
