@TerraNetworks I'd think it would be great to focus on your braking & steering into corners while the transmission controls gear shifts. The speed of those shifts and rev-matching is spot-on. Thanks for posting the video.

Don't call this pussy driving. He is going speeds of 100-140kM/h on wet mountain roads with very poor sight. I wouldn't go more than 80, especially not in those corners... You have to have driven on these kinds of roads to know what he does is quite dangerous. This isn't America where roads are made out of straight lines with 90 degree corners and a traffic light.
@MrCharming123 Most of those places are almost entirely flat, plains states, especially Ohio, Texas and Indiana. Plus, it's depends whether you're in the city or the suburbs/country. Where I am there are roads just like the one in the video and my area certainly isn't the only place you find those kind of roads.

You will find these kind of black and white markers on every often used country road in whole germany. They have a rectangular white reflector on the front (in germany you drive on the right side of the road) and have 2 circular white reflectors on its back. So when you drive at night (the countryside at night is very dark) or while the weather is dark and rainy on such a country road you can better see and follow the road.

The 911 Turbo S is my ultimate. If i could only own ONE car to drive every day...This is it. Understated, practical (ish!), supercar performance. Just brilliant.

Besides, most test drivers and reviewers said that 458 is currently by far the best sports car in the world.
Only in top speed 458 is better . I also think that a lot people are biased towards 458 (Car reviewers /test drivers). The 458 is a ferrari , it has to be good ; but for half the price of 458 , Turbo S is not bad at all .

Watch any proper car review (fifth gear, evo magazine, top gear) and they all say 458 is THE sports car.

@JimmyChannel1 - I would think so. Porsche says 0 to 100kmph in 3.3s. They are known to be modest about performance figures. The normal 2010 Turbo version has been clocked at 2.9~3.2s so i am guessing this should do it in about 3s.
@JimmyChannel1 - The Turbo S is faster than the GT2 (530bhp) and even the all new GT2 RS (620bhp) in the 0 to 60 tests. The 4 wheel drive allow for added traction off the line. But in every other accel. test say 0 to 200kmph and 100 to 200kmph the GT2s are faster. Also since the GT2s are purposefully built track cars they clock faster lap times on tracks such as the Nurburgring. Timings are as follows Turbo (7min 39s), Turbo S (???), GT2 (7min 32s) and the mighty GT2 RS (7min 18s).
@GeorgeOfDubai GT2 rs faster than a carrera GT on nurburgring, Such is progress. Turbo S is definitiely more of a daily driving porsche, one for 4 seasons. I'd still hold out for the new 998 model, since all of these cars are usually made just to sell what's left of the current design. But knowing porsche, the base and S models will probably only be available in 998, and turbo will still be 997 for a while.

I'd say that if you stripped out a turbo and added some boost it'd be just as quick around the track whilst having far better performance off the line. :) Anyway, in terms of real world performance the 0-60 times are probably more noticeable.
@GeorgeOfDubai AWD has noticable lag off the line, yes traction is better but there is a slight ( less than .5 of a second on a fine german sport like this ) lag when you floor it off the line. It's not just the turbo either, as I have experienced such lag on an audi a4 and a mercedes benz e500 4matic as well
@GeorgeOfDubai I agree but for the most part no matter what happens the transmission still has to power two drive axles instead of a single one... While modern supercars can achieve ridiculous 0-60 times even with AWD , and given that using launch control provides optimum conditions for launch in the desired vehicle, you can understand that all modern super cars are fast off the line, to begin with. The engines produce more horses, but obviously instant torque eliminates the effect of physics...
@GeorgeOfDubai Motortrend tested the turbo with manual gear box and they had the fastest 0-60 time of any manual geared car ever... 3.0s. I would guess the PDK would be 2.8s and the turbo S 2.6-2.7s.

@suprattkk That's because unless you're actually in it it doesn't seem fast.. I nearly passed out when I rode as a passenger in a launch controlled 0-100 time attack in one of these things, the PDK is so fast.. I just wasn't use to or couldn't even imagine acceleration like that!

The 911 Turbo S is my ultimate. If i could only own ONE car to drive every day...This is it. Understated, practical (ish!), supercar performance. Just brilliant.

@sohaibthephilosopher It cant really smoke the crap out of a 458. Thats retarded to say, since they're both about similar on straight and in the corners. Ferrari is probably more fun to drive, and IS faster, but Porsche is more usable because of 4WD. Anyone could drive Porsche almost to the limit, while 458 takes some serious skill to drive it on the limit...like all ferraris.

@sohaibthephilosopher Besides, how can 911 smoke the crap out of 458 if 458 is faster around any where both cars were tested, and quite a lot faster. The only thing where 911 beats 458 in terms of performance is 0-100 because of 4WD grip and launch control. Any other acceleration test, top speed, or lap times, 458 is faster. Besides, most test drivers and reviewers said that 458 is currently by far the best sports car in the world.

Only in top speed 458 is better . I also think that a lot people are biased towards 458 (Car reviewers /test drivers). The 458 is a ferrari , it has to be good ; but for half the price of 458 , Turbo S is not bad at all .

@sohaibthephilosopher Nobody's biased towards ferrari. Its just how it is. Ferraris feel special. They're more fun than Porsche. By the way, who the hell give a damn about drag racing? I never understood those who judge a car by straight line speed. Do you know how TINY the difference in that drag race was? The Porsche only won because of 4WD, and Ferrari had a very bad launch. Watch any proper car review (fifth gear, evo magazine, top gear) and they all say 458 is THE sports car.

About being biased it was my opinion , its OK if you disagree. About the fun part ; I've never driven Ferrari ; also keep in view the difference in price. Drag racing ? Remember it was 1 mile drag . Winner would have better traction + acceleration .And for Gods sake , the difference was NOT tiny ! :) All these car reviewers you've mentioned are mere entertainers IMO. With the exception of Evo magazine ; to me the opinions of the other two might not be fully credible .

When a british guy admits that italian car is better than brand new british car, then you know it REALLY is better, since british are usually extremely biased towards their cars.

@JimmyChannel1 - I would think so. Porsche says 0 to 100kmph in 3.3s. They are known to be modest about performance figures. The normal 2010 Turbo version has been clocked at 2.9~3.2s so i am guessing this should do it in about 3s.

@JimmyChannel1 - The Turbo S is faster than the GT2 (530bhp) and even the all new GT2 RS (620bhp) in the 0 to 60 tests. The 4 wheel drive allow for added traction off the line. But in every other accel. test say 0 to 200kmph and 100 to 200kmph the GT2s are faster. Also since the GT2s are purposefully built track cars they clock faster lap times on tracks such as the Nurburgring. Timings are as follows Turbo (7min 39s), Turbo S (???), GT2 (7min 32s) and the mighty GT2 RS (7min 18s).

@GeorgeOfDubai GT2 rs faster than a carrera GT on nurburgring, Such is progress. Turbo S is definitiely more of a daily driving porsche, one for 4 seasons. I'd still hold out for the new 998 model, since all of these cars are usually made just to sell what's left of the current design. But knowing porsche, the base and S models will probably only be available in 998, and turbo will still be 997 for a while.

@GeorgeOfDubai i would love Porsche to drop the gt2 rs motor in the turbo. Also, if they dont already have it, to add tourqe vectoring diffs. It would be absolutely wild. Some weight reduction too. Would be a crazy car. :)

@GeorgeOfDubai Around such a huge track at the nordschliefe, 7 seconds isn't that much. I'd say that if you stripped out a turbo and added some boost it'd be just as quick around the track whilst having far better performance off the line. :) Anyway, in terms of real world performance the 0-60 times are probably more noticeable.

@GeorgeOfDubai AWD has noticable lag off the line, yes traction is better but there is a slight ( less than .5 of a second on a fine german sport like this ) lag when you floor it off the line. It's not just the turbo either, as I have experienced such lag on an audi a4 and a mercedes benz e500 4matic as well

@GeorgeOfDubai I agree but for the most part no matter what happens the transmission still has to power two drive axles instead of a single one... While modern supercars can achieve ridiculous 0-60 times even with AWD , and given that using launch control provides optimum conditions for launch in the desired vehicle, you can understand that all modern super cars are fast off the line, to begin with. The engines produce more horses, but obviously instant torque eliminates the effect of physics...

@GeorgeOfDubai Motortrend tested the turbo with manual gear box and they had the fastest 0-60 time of any manual geared car ever... 3.0s. I would guess the PDK would be 2.8s and the turbo S 2.6-2.7s.
