  • lighten the spring rate up front the fron is not compresing easy enough to keep that rear wheel mounted........... if it has torsions, add some hoops with fox air shocks with 2-300lbs@ about 4" compressed up front and then down crank the bars it may also help your frame flex and sratch any body lift

  • @jimmybajakit No the main problem is that I am running TWO coil spacers up front.. I am gonna change the front spring and put a longer one in.. That should fix most of my problems..

  • Flexxxx thattttttttttttt shiii!!!!!!

  • how does a locker work? does it make offroading in a 2wd easier? im getting a 2wd ford ranger in 4 months

  • @bobbybob3680 You can google it and get a better idea of technicalities. But basically, vehicle manufacturers put in (usually) open differentials which allow tires to turn at different speeds to allow for turning and ease of driving. A locker literally locks both axles in the housing together and forces them to turn at the same speed no matter what. And yes, tires and lockers are the best investments you can make for off roading.

  • @YamahaWR200 Couldnt have explained that better myself. 2wd w/ lockers ftw. what size tires are those? they look huge on that truck. my 2000 silverado is lifted 9" on 35's and the tires look so small :( i could easily clear 38's

  • @HogFanCam Yeah.. They are 36's. The desc. says everything I have done to my truck.. I was gonna bump up to 37x1250's but I think I have pretty much decided against it. Because regular brand 37's are the same size as what i'm running now. (As you know, they run small) So I am thinking of going with 35x1250x15 LTB's. Go down about inch in diameter but i'll be going an inch and a half wider.. I think that would help me out more than taller.. Especially with my short wheel base.

  • this is off scott rd in sac county w have bonfires there every friday or sat

  • @crawlerjeep7 Yeah.. Where do you guys do bon fires? Down in that big open area on the side of the hill or what?

  • @YamahaWR200 there is a big open area u cant miss it its past bolth creek crossings and the other creek its kinda in the dead middle u cant miss it there is ash all over the place.. u should have gone to the last one we had 250 people crazy shit

  • @crawlerjeep7 Ok.. Yeah I know where that is.. Who goes? Like just random people?

  • @YamahaWR200 no gangsters, only country music is played lots of people from cameron park folsom eldarodo hills rancho jackson auburn newcastle loomis

  • @crawlerjeep7 hmm.. So when is the next one? When do they usually start?

  • @YamahaWR200 umm no clue maybe this friday or sat idk the one with 250 people was last sat

  • nice truck

  • @starion871 Thanks man...

  • @YamahaWR200 not bein an ass here but why a 2wd?

  • @88fordredneck The better question is.. Why not?? ha ha Actually my whole goal with this truck is to drive the Rubicon all the way with a 2wd. You can google "Rubicon trail" and you will learn all about it. It is basically just a famous off road trail between California and Nevada. I was inspired by the old Meyers Manx that originally did it 2wd back when willys jeeps were king. (Obviously much easier back then)

  • @88fordredneck I just want to do it to do it. I am gonna put in a T-case and all before then and I am probably bumping up to 37x1250's in the next few weeks Afterwards I will be doing SAS to 4wd. I have just always been a fan of underdogs. And I am going to video the whole thing (best I can) to post on here. I personally believe 2wd's are WAY under-rated and that MOST people that get 4wd's don't actually need them. Decent tires and a locker can do a surprising amount off road.

  • What body lift did you buy? Whenever you have the 5 speed and body lift don't you also need a shifter extender?

  • @300atsheridan I bought a PA body lift. And I also got a shifter extender as well.. In my 98 and 2000 rangers, it worked perfectly.. In my 2001 ranger, the shifter extender seems a tiny bit too long. I am still messing with it. Right now I have my shifter console thing unscrewed so it can move with the shifter a little. i don't know why it isn't right, but.. This truck has been a nightmare getting it to where it is now.. Just a lemon..

  • @YamahaWR200 Well, I have a 1999 Ford Ranger 2.5 4 cyl and it has a mild lift I was thinking of getting a bigger lift by body lifting so I don't have to get custom arms up front and so I can avoid blocks... Hate blocks... But yeah, I was just wondering what kind of success you've had with it because I'm really interested in going higher.

  • @300atsheridan My personal opinion is that body lifts are the best lift for your money..

  • @YamahaWR200 Yeah, but then stability is questionable. It all comes down to what you rely want from it, for functionality I'd go with all suspension modifications like spindles and coils along with lift leafs in back, but for looks or just some height, body lifts are a good bank for buck. I can't decide because with my 2" suspension lift and a 3" body lift too much frame could be seen, tailpipe would look weird, and 31's would look too small in there....

  • @300atsheridan Yeah I have heard that old stability excuse before.. ha ha There is literally ZERO difference in regards to stability. If you actually look at where the body and frame touch each other, it is no different. The body touches the frame in EXACTLY the same 6 spots the body lift blocks sit. No more. Even if you put 6" body lift blocks in, as long as you had strong enough bolts, there would be ZERO difference.. Jeepers are the most notorious for ragging on body lifts.

  • @300atsheridan Another GREAT thing about body lifts is that they don't raise your center of mass of your rig as much as suspension lifts. But if you wanna go big, you will be required to do a body lift in addition to the suspension lifts. And functionality wise body lifts allow for bigger tires which raises your minimum ground clearance. It also protects the body from getting bent when you bottom out on the frame. But suit yourself. You probably won't be able to fit 35's without..

  • @YamahaWR200 Well it's still in production stages. I'm not a Jeep owner, or a body lift basher, I'm a ranger owner just like you as you can see from my videos. They're not terrific, but something... I just can't decide because I wanted to go down, but don't wanna flip the rear and put all the stress of hauling on the U bolts. So now, I'm thinking go badass and go up? I can't decide, but I don't need to decide just yet anyway. All good information either way.

  • @300atsheridan ha no I wasn't tryin to say you are a basher. I am saying that from what you have read or who you have talked to are probably mostly jeep owners. I know when I was researching my build, basically only jeep owners were saying no to body lifts. But as I said, it was one of the best investments.

  • @YamahaWR200 Well if I do invest, I'd need to get at least 33's, but I also need to regear and possibly invest in something other then that little 7.5 in the rear. Those things snap easily, and the largest gearing theyt can handle is like 4.55 or something like that...

  • @300atsheridan I swapped in the 8.8 and i am running 5.71's (as in the desc.) and it has been great. My bro is on 33's with the 7.5" rear and it is doing fine. Especially with a 2wd.. You don't really need to worry too much about breaking anything unless you beat your truck..

  • i don't understand why you would not have 4wd.

  • @williamgonegro7 Cause I am trying to build it to do the Rubicon with a 2wd. No reason other than I want to do it to say I did..

  • what lift is on this truck? ia have a 2wd 98 xlt and need a lift that wont tow the tires

  • @andrewdhunter15 Uh.. I don't know what you mean by won't tow the tires.. Unless you mean "toe" ??? But "toe" doesn't matter. Camber matters.. The description says what I have done to it... Body lift is always the best option if you are worried about messing with alignment.

  • two thumbs up. im a blazer man, but easy and cheap mods sometimes are a good thing.

  • @MrMacrun Ha yep.. This thing has been a budget build from the beginning..

  • Hey man, any problems fitting those new spindles on a 15 inch rim? Im looking to do a spindle lift on my f150 but not if i have to buy bigger/wider rims haha.

  • @jcheathamm No.. The only limiting factor would be the size of your brakes.. But I think if you stick with factory everything, it will fit fine..

  • How much did the locker cost you and how much was it? Thanks

  • @360ModsandHacks How much did the locker cost me and how much was it? ha ha It was I think $70 shipped from ebay..

  • @YamahaWR200 Ah my bad just read that again :P Did you install it yourself?

  • @360ModsandHacks Yeah.. Pretty easy. I have been meaning to put an install video of it up but have had other stuff going on.. I would like to put a video of it up before the end of the year..

  • @YamahaWR200 that would be awasome just got me a 2wd 4 cy ranger, need a locker.

  • hey man there aint nothing like a nice trail session its always nice to enjoy those kind of things.what size tires u running and what kind of muffler?

  • @cromedome60 The description says what I have done to the truck and the muffler was cut off after the cats..

  • 1:54 it looks like your rear tire bent back..nice truck

  • @colonyrider11 Thanks man. I think that was just it flexing. Although in the video in this link, /watch?v=59Iv7q7nVg4&feature=related you can see that I do have a little problem with axle wrap.. So I gotta do something about that.. But only when funds allow.. I spend too much money on guns... My truck has been a slow process cause of that.. ha ha

  • I CANT BELEIVE I ENDED UP WATCHING THIS SHIT . SORRY I PAUSED AT 0.55 GOT BORED AND WROTE THE COMMENT . FIND SOME REAL HILLS /SAND DUNES/ ROCK CLIMBING / BEACH AND SURF DRIVING

  • @deanoobaby Ha ha.. If you had watched my other video before this, you would see that it isn't nothing.. It's just the locker made it much better. It would have been cooler if i was in a nissan pathfinder doing donuts in 6" of water huh??

  • @YamahaWR200 lol some one did there home work check out the other video ate called ... alkimos sand dunes part 2

  • keep up the good work man. I like how you know how to take care of your shit your still going off road to show off your truck but your taking it easy so you dont tear anything up. I seen it to many times people take their truck off road and tear it up by driving it on the floor you know how to take care of a car. keep it up.

  • @kappagreen71 ha thanks man.. On all my videos people tell me to SMASH into stuff. Their solution to everything is hit it faster.. Well I could make everything in a lowered civic if I hit it fast enough.. ha ha. Ever since I rolled my old ranger down a hill at an off road park, I take it easy. I totaled my truck because I was trying things that I shouldn't have been. I have been pretty timid doing stuff in my DD ever since. So now I take it easy and just enjoy trail rides..

  • you need to cut your wheel wells out more, get some more clearance...

  • @TheRangeroo ha I haven't cut them at all yet. So not cut them "more." But i am trying to avoid that because I like the stock look.. Well lifted stock look. I am going to try and add another half inch or inch ot my body lift and see if that helps..

  • if you went over 10 mph your shit would fall apart

  • /watch?v=opAZduLBMek&feature=related

    /watch?v=pxWQESo-1sc&feature=related

2 good videos that show what a stock ZR-2 can do.

  • @Brendan194 So not tryin to knock it cause they are fine, but... You obviously haven't watched my other videos of my truck?? I have a deeper mud hole I drive through in this video before I put my locker in,

    /watch?v=zbY7D9aH0eE

And here is a video of me trying a hill in the mud after I put my locker in. It is small, but much worse approach angle and probably a little steeper,

    /watch?v=ear_JlDwI90

And here was the original version of this video before locker

    /watch?v=KYEyjEctUwk

  • @YamahaWR200 The 2nd video I have watched before, but that last video you posted of this one I noticed that your locker made major improvements.

  • @Brendan194 Yeah.. That's why I was saying it isn't nothing. Yes it isn't the most difficult thing on youtube, but it is my daily driver and I can't beat it.. You should watch my videos. There are a couple boring ones, but.. For a 2wd this thing does pretty well...

  • @Brendan194 And you are comparing a 4wd to a 2wd. I don't understand why though...

  • That axle disconnect isn't good, your tires shouldn't be hitting your fenders my blaZeR2 could do all this stock.

  • @Brendan194 Axle disconnect? What are you talking about? And no duh my tires shouldn't hit my fenders.. Feel free to post a video response of you wheelin your blazer2... I wanna see that...

  • @YamahaWR200 It sure looks like you've disconnected the axle..

    en. wikipedia. org /wiki/Center_axle_disconnect

Next time I take my blazer off-road I will. I mean honestly you can't even call what you're doing off-roading. I've got a 45 degree bank in my front yard I drive my blazer up.

  • @Brendan194 ha ha 45 degrees huh?? ha ha Look at how it is flexing.. Obviously you can see that your stock blazer wouldn't even have 4 tires on the ground half the time.. And you obviously don't know what you are talking about with the axle disconnect.. This truck is 2 wheel drive.. What axles am I going to disconnect? The ones pushing me?? ha ha I looked at your channel.. you should put more stereo videos up.. Or more engine revving videos.. or more video game videos.. ha ha

  • @Brendan194 And I don't know why you are being such a troll.. You can look in the description and see me do this before I put the locker in and then this video is post locker. Obviously it isn't the most hardcore thing on youtube, but.. Come on man.. It obviously isn't nothing either...

  • @YamahaWR200 I'm not being a troll if anyone is it's you with your last comment, I'm just stating something and you're getting your panties all tied up in a knot.

  • @YamahaWR200 hey do you know if my 87 ranger will do this with my 4inc spindle lift ?

  • @26BassHead I assume you are talking about a 2wd?? It could probably do all of this except for the very first and very last obstables.. I did it with 31 mud terrains and a body lift. But I spun on the first obstacle when flexing. And no chance I could have made it out the side at the end without the locker...

  • @YamahaWR200 hey sry no its a 4x4

  • @26BassHead Then it should be able to do all of that. The only problem would possibly by the last turn out on the hill, but I think it could probably do it fine...

  • what is your lift in that truck with tire size and lift in inches if you could get back to me that would be awsome thanks man.

  • @RUSSELL826 It's all in the description...

  • Thanks.

    I have a 2004 ranger 2wd do you Reccomend getting a locker ?

  • @SpLaTxKiiD Do I recommend you getting a locker??? I have no idea if I would recommend that. I don't know what you use your truck for. Do you have a lowered and bagged ranger that is a pavement pounder? If so, then no I would not recommend one. If you use it like I use mine, then I would definitely recommend one. But I would recommend good tires before I recommended a locker.

  • How did you get your ranger to sound like that ?

  • @SpLaTxKiiD Chopped off the exhaust after the cats.

  • hey so i have a 2wd f150 and i want to put a locker in the rear...how much did you spend? was it hard to do? and how do i go about find the right locker to fit? i have looked at 4 wheel parts and i dont know how to get ahold of my spline count and all the critical info to do this...

  • @jdbelcas85 Spline count is usually on a tag on the diff cover. There will be a code, you write it all down and google it and it will tell you your ratio, rear end size/type, spline count, etc... And I put a mini-spool in, so it doesn't replace the carrier or anything. Only the spider gears. I did it by myself in a couple hours..

  • what do you mean by locker? what is that

  • @silverdiaz7 google is your friend... It locks both axles together...

  • god damn, nice work on the ranger dude!! i like it a lot!!! and nice flex!

  • @alpinetypeR666 ha thanks man. The front end has some problems with stiffness. It will flex a lot nicer once I fix that..

  • Im tryin to fit just 31's on my 03 ranger i cant fit thwm on there stock and i dont have torsion bars would the coil spacer be a good choice to level it out?? Thanks

  • @tylerhaasion They would work, but they aren't the best option. You will wear tires faster because it will mess with your camber. You can adjust the camber all the way and it will be ok, but you will still go through tires fairly quickly. You would be better going body lift, or spindle lift..

  • Comment removed

  • @trujillorojo Look in the description..

  • wheres this at in folsom?

  • @rocker4579 It is technically South Shingle off of Latrobe rd.

  • @YamahaWR200 Folsom California?

  • @rocker4579 yeah..

  • @YamahaWR200 ok just making sure cause i haven't heard of south shingle but latrobe sounded kinda familiar

  • very nice...

  • @malaihiboi I just posted on your comment on the other video.. But you can DEFINITELY hear my fender rubbing on this video... Gonna add an inch or so to the body lift I think. I'm doing everything i can to try and NOT cut fenders. I like the stock look to much..

  • @YamahaWR200 I like how you run those 36's, and I like the look as well. Regarding your other post, I just fixed some axle-wrap on my Dakota, w/ 33's 4.56 and Detroit Locker. Pretty smooth now I got a smaller block and a few add a leafs. Next is a traction bar though. A 2wd with a locker makes it so much more capable and fun... Good times

  • @malaihiboi Oh yeah.. Honestly, I knew a locker would make a big difference.. But I didn't know it was gonna make a HUGE difference. I mean I still get stuck sometimes where a stock 4wd may or may not get stuck, but I can get through A LOT of stuff that I never thought I would be able to.. But my ultimate goal is to run the Rubicon with this truck 2wd.. Gonna put a T-case in and change a little bit in regards to how I lifted it. But i am almost there..

  • Nice ranger! My 98 2wd ranger will go through anything, completly stock, take it off-road all the time. im putting some 33's on it soon with a lift, and hopefully a 5.0L

  • @98FordRanger302 Thanks man. Yeah I had a 98 ranger originally with just a body lift and 31 MT's and it was honestly a beast... Well.. Until I rolled it off road.. ha ha Still drove it around for another year before I sold it.

  • @YamahaWR200 haha, the roof didnt cave in when u rolled it? and i love my ranger, yesterday i had it up to 85 on a small 55 mph road, coulda got it to go faster, but i was running out of road, the 3.0 6 cyl it has isnt bad

  • @98FordRanger302 ha ha No it WAS caved in.. The passenger side windshield post and roof were caved in. But being a starving college student, I drove it anyway. During the winter, it leaked and smelled like mildew and blew cold air in through the door sills, etc... But hey, that is the price you pay for your wheeler being your daily driver.. ha ha

  • @YamahaWR200 u didnt get pulled over for driving around with a caved in roof? here in florida u get pulled over for having a bent bumper

  • @98FordRanger302 Oh.. I would get pulled over probably 3-5 times a month for it. But they would always give me warnings. I was a problem child in my town, so they knew my truck and would pull me over ALL the time... Just to give me a hard time.

  • @YamahaWR200 thats tight. Im about to get an 02 ranger xlt 4x4 looks like itll be fun!

  • @VisuaIGaming Yeah.. What makes it fun is just going with people. Going alone is boring.. (and stupid if you get stuck)

  • Did you take your exhaust off?

  • @VisuaIGaming Yeah. I am in the process of changing it. So in this video it is just running the stock dual cats.. It is fairly quiet..

  • those leaf springs are being tortured

  • @300atsheridan No way... I have tortured leave springs with over 2200 pounds of rock in the bed. That is torture. Leaf springs are springs. They are built to be flexed.. Yes, these are being bent more than the average, but... There are 10,000's or leaf spring sprung trail rigs and they do just fine.. The only better option is Coils, and even then, they will have the same stress on them...

  • @YamahaWR200 this is true, but one day those springs are gonna snap from bending too far the wrong way. coils would undergo the same stress yes, but the flexing would be less stressful to the spring itself and there's a better chance of busting the leaf then a coil. just saying, still a cool truck. Got the same kind! reg 2.5l 5 spd

  • @300atsheridan Yeah, I know. Eventually they "could" break. But I would say it is much less common than you would expect. And if and when that happens, I will be screwed. But same as if something else fails. I.e. Locker, axle, u joint, etc.. There are many weak points. I am just counting on my leafs to not be the one to fail.. ha ha And thanks. I love my truck..

  • @YamahaWR200 well as long as you aren't running that little 7.5 in the rear i'd say you're fine as far as driveline issues go. maybe go get another leaf pack and throw it in the back.

  • @300atsheridan Well, i'm hopefully only going to have them on for another year or so and then I'm gonna try and go coil overs all around. Or run leafs all around and just get different spring rates for them..

  • @YamahaWR200 i'd go coils

  • @300atsheridan Different advantages.. I'm gonna convert this to 4x and doing leafs will be EASY!!! Coil overs will not be as easy.. But we will see.. I'm guessing i'm gonna do leafs first, and eventually go coils..

  • @YamahaWR200 I wouldn't want to have to build it twice you know? I guess you could, but coils will more then likely take more punishment.... while you're at it, i'd stiffen the frame up so you don't create weak spot and bend it. that cracking noise when you flex ain't great ha

  • @300atsheridan I agree I wouldn't want to build it twice, but.. I am a poor starving college student. So I can't build the ultimate rig I want. I gotta do baby steps.. And no, that isn't my frame cracking. ha Although it does flex a lot. I will stiffen it up eventually.. Can't afford to do everything. ha

  • @YamahaWR200 lol i'd just wait then until you have the time and $ to do it right. That's what i'm doing with my ranger. I am going to lower it once the time is oppurtune, being as i'm also a college student. just get one extra leaf and throw it in the back for the dreadful day one explodes haha

  • @300atsheridan Yeah, the problem with that, is that if you wait till "the right time" it will NEVER get done. That is the only reason my truck is as far along as it is now. I have slowly done one step at a time...

  • it is easy to fix power steering wine just find the powersteering fluid injector thing it should be hooked up to a belt on the engine and you just tighten the belt works for me every time!!!

  • @jacobtraxxasman You can't tighten the belt. It runs off the serpentine belt which is tightened by a spring loaded pulley..

  • @YamahaWR200 mine is driven off of 4 different belts not a serpentine sucks for yoy hahaha jokeing

  • @jacobtraxxasman Well, there are pros and cons.. A pro is only one belt and no adjustment needed. Con is only one belt that if broken basically makes the truck undriveable..

  • @YamahaWR200 yep very true personally id rather offroad with a engine with more than one belt than a serpentine.and you dont have to adjust that often.

  • @jacobtraxxasman ha different strokes... Cause I would rather have a single serpentine belt. ha ha

  • Gotta love that power steering whine

  • @CaCtUsCoOlEr55 ha yep..

  • what shock set up do you got?

  • @411FordRanger uh... i have if I remember right, 3" lift shocks in the rear (rough country I want to say) and the stock 4wd shocks up front.. But I had to cut a hole with the angle grinder to get it to fit, but it saved me over 50 bucks buying OEM 4wd shocks..

  • @YamahaWR200 hmmmmmmm i wouldnt flex those oems to much man. youll extend then out and pull the rod through reservoir .

  • @411FordRanger ha I think i'll be alright.. As long as you are gentle, it is no different than lifting the truck with a jack and letting the wheels hang.. And I don't go and jump my truck or anything.. So I know it will be fine.. I have been flexing like that for a long time with no problems even when I was on 31's with only a body lift and stock everything.. Just don't go jumping or letting it rebound too hard and you will be fine..

  • @411FordRanger the frame is flexing so much.lol

  • @916outlawz yeah, I need to stiffen it up.. I cracked the cross member on 2 rangers so far.. (the cross member the rear of the tranny bolts to) I had to weld them up, and one cracked again.. But my rangers have always had bad frame flex.. I think it is just a ranger thing...

  • awesome

  • oh ok thanks your truck looks a

    wesome

  • @squirrelman91 Thanks.. It's my baby.. That I take care of, but expect a lot out of.. ha ha

  • whats sizes lift does this ranger have?

  • @squirrelman91 It says in the description what I did to it. It is right around I think 9" give or take..
