  • It's German TV, not Japanese.

  • I used to look after the music in a local youth club and I was still playing this track in 1970, by request!

  • walking dead and walker brothers haha

  • This great song still jolts me with joy as much as it did in 1966 when I was 17!!!

    "I Want Yo' Number."

  • If they don't use this song at some point in the actual show I'm gonna personally clock Robert Kirkman on the side of the head

  • I melt inside hearing those velvet voices

  • All the old song's from 'the walking dead'

it has to be this one that tops it of!!!!!

  • Scott had the most powerful voice in his era and beyond. While great singers, Tom Jones, Engelbert, Jay Black all are a slight notch below in vocal range, clarity and depth. Scott did not have the consistent arrangements, of the others, nor did he choose to leave the melancholy themes. While a couple of songs like this, Make It Easy on Yourself, In My Room, After the Lights Go Out are great, the remainder tail off considerably.

  • Beautiful song!

    Truly madly deeply :)

    (Minghella fan here XD!)

  • John married Kathy Young shortly after arriving in the UK. I'm sure that wedding band kept him from being the 'teen heartthrob' that Scott was. Short lived marriage. 65-68...then again...with all that sky rocket fame....how could a 22 year old and a 20 year old couple survive that?

I was only 11...when these guys were overnight sensations in the UK....but wow....was I a crazed pre-teen over John. LOL

And living in the present....DANG....those pegged pants are HOT on John !!! hahahahaha

  • I heard way back when it was new...good stuff.

  • aaa i knew this song from keane :)

  • GREAT SINGING!!!!!!

  • I, Like Many Others Hear The "Spector" Sound in Many Of the Walker Bros.

Music.........I Had The "45" Many Yrs. Ago and Wore It Out!!

  • true singing voice! these days you just dont hear them like this anymore. i guess for the music world, the sun aint gonna shine anymore.

  • @checkfoldcallraise WELL Said

  • bronson brought me here

  • It seems as though Scott is doing all the 'singing.'

  • one of my favorite songs from them. love those 60s ballads. many great high school memories.

  • R.I.P. John...xxxx

  • WoW!! This just brings memories flooding back. John was such a big part of my early years. I met him not that long ago and as we held hands he said to me "well, where shall we begin, again" and I just melted!!! What a gorgeous, gorgeous bloke he was and I jst can't get it into my head that he has gone. Long may he live, again!!

  • one of my daddy's faves

  • @TheJgriff72 Our dad would listen with us to radio stations that played this kind of music - and I'd get lost in the great sounds. I was 3 but probably heard this from then until I was 6 over and over. I heard it again about 5 years ago and the memories came back!! What powerful voices coming from young guys!!

  • I love Keane's cover of this song!

  • Rest In Peace (John)

    Our loss and Heavens Gain

  • Another Great slice of the 60s died on the 7th of May. Taken another big piece from us music fans as well, from the finest trio of singers ever. RIP forever big John.... Will the sun ever shine again....

  • RIP John a real gentleman and legend, very sad about this news.

  • R.I.P John Walker .....your music will always live on. I am so sadden by this news.

  • R.I.P. John Walker (John Maus)

  • R.I.P

  • R.I.P Brother God Save His Soul .

  • Rest in Peace John Walker - I loved all your music

  • RIP John Walker

This is the only Walker Brothers Song I really know, but damn is it a good 'un

  • Why is it always when someone dies, it's when you discover the real music that the modern music industry has shunned nowadays. Why could I have not heard this earlier? Absolutely brilliant stuff. RIP John Walker. Thank you for giving me another reason to believe in music again!

  • Just heard the sad news on the radio!John thanks for this great kind of music you left us behind....I heard this great number when I was five and despite my young age I love it and it will last forever!

This great number and others will continue to rise and travel into the future ....

    R.I.P. John

  • A sad day for popular music John Walker will be missed.

  • Tnx John Walker

  • R.I.P. John Walker.

  • RIP John Walker.

  • Just heard the sad news.

    RIP John Walker.

  • When I hear some of the stuff from the the 60's and 1970's it really reminds how far popular music has fallen in quality over the last 30 years. The boomers with all their faults undoubtably were the most giften musical generation to yet come along.

  • My all time favourite song! What a voice Scott Walker has, and John is some singer too

  • I think of these guys as the fore runners to Hall & Oats... loved this song...thanks!

  • Great song from a simpler time our youth!!

  • Such wonderful voices !! these boys new how to deliver a song (*_*)

  • this guy the new scott walker? - search 'woven orbit'

  • i don't like this, i love it. very dramatic!!! great voices!

  • Fire the director.

  • 8 people are zombies

  • Such a classic song. Thank u. :)

  • I'm Wondering How They Got the "Spector" Sound Down So Good.

If I Didn't Know I Would Think That Phil Spector Produced This With

His Wall of Sound. God I Love This!

  • @desert3347 I think it really was one of his right hand men, from what I read.

  • @1bigbuy OK interesting!! sure sounds like a Spector sound to me!

  • English Righteous Brothers ?

  • "the cream, the who, the kinks, i'm talking over the song!"

  • @Karmalize I love the list of who will be featured on the next show - all Mods. 1965 was great time for music. "Sonny and Cher, the [sic] Cream, the Who, the Kinks..." You could turn on the radio and here hits from all of them played in the same hour - along with the Beatles, the Stones, the Supremes, the Temptations and of course the Righteous Brothers. ("Unchained Melody" was the year's #1 song.)

  • Reminds me of the RIghteous Brothers, only without the R&B influence.

  • The fucking Walking Dead? are you serious. dammit.

  • @SugarSigur lol, its a good trailer and song, i've heard it a millions times before but the trailer sparked it again for me!

  • toook fucking forever

  • What's Walking Dead?

  • @BadErnest :D you dont know :D series :D

  • The greatest song about losing out in love ever done.

  • The boots are Spanish flamenco dancers boots...Was this a Phil Spector session? Probably...but he had a group of devotees like Shadow Morton and Sonny Bono who could get the same sound.

  • I loved them ...How great voice of Scott

  • This is a great version - Scott's voice is magnificent.

Look at those sixties boots with little heels - you saw Captain Kirk and the male Enterprise crew all wearing them!

  • the walking dead brought me here

  • Great-Timeless music- great arrangement- did I hear someone ask if it was a Phil Spector arrangement? It does sound like it- Thanks for posting

  • it's Scott Walker's fault......and I thank him for us all

  • anthem to the Kray Twins

  • Such an awesome voice.

  • What the fuck is the Walking Dead? Get the fuck outta here, kids! Go on, scram!

  • @caesiume Oh, shut up. The Walking Dead is the best damn show to have come out in the last year, and the best damn comic in the last seven. Hush now.

  • @caesiume That was harsh, but it was really funny!

  • "All I am anymore is a man looking for his wife and son. Anybody who gets in the way of that's gonna lose."

  • funny thing is these American guys were huge in England but overshadowed in the US by the Righteous Brothers. They were not English and not brothers! But this song is timeless even if Scott has gone on to make some bizarre and brilliant music( see Jesse..about Elvis Presley's stillborn twin brother from inside the womb!).

  • This song brings back so many memories ......Wow haven't heard it in years ..............nice to go back and relive memories!!

  • Acutally the fantastic documentary "Scott Walker 30 Century Man" sent me here which everyone should catch on Netflix. Fascinating guy. But kudos to Walking Dead.

  • Thumbs up if the Walking Dead sent you here!

  • @Soundnous No. Cher did

  • @Soundnous lol- this song was when i took some guys seriously.

  • duh hoot' de' hoode'

  • There's good and bad music from every decade, but if we are to get analytical...Nothing is as great as 60's music.

  • Well Walking Dead fans, its almost time! ENJOY! X)

  • The Walking Dead is going to make this song popular again........

  • absolutly evergreen

  • Timeless classic GET! It's almost scary how much I love this song.

Then again, they found such a cathartic/uplifting execution for a supposedly sad theme, it's unique.

  • WOW what a GREAT song !!!

  • ... Love it.

  • great song of the 60s.

  • Unless you caught these singers of the60's on Ed Sullivan or American Bandstand the exact day and time they appeared, you never saw the singer sing his song---you just heard it on the radio. Incredible to see performers like these sing songs that are almost painful how they bring back a time and era that will never be again.

    LMH

  • the sun aint going to shine anymore ,,,,great song

  • Always thought this sounded very classy for a song of the era...Not what many perceived was "rock music"...Very good performance.

  • this song is just a perfec pearl... let the zombies come

  • FAB! but how the hell did John get into those pants?

  • What a Great Classic!! Thanks for Posting!!!

  • This Is Not Lipsynch. The Video Is Slightly Out Of Time With The Vocals.

  • The deep shade of blue is always there-is that the coppers coming to arrest the Krays???

  • My 60 year old mum detests this song and I've never understood why its terrific.

  • @BadGirlOfAutism

  • why the hell does that foreign idiot have to break into the song ? ugh

  • this ist not from japan tv. this is from german tv (west germany not GDR). the name of the show was "beat club" produced by the german tv station Radio Bremen.

  • love the german at the end, some sort of DDR top of the pops?

  • WALKING DEAD TRAILER SONG!

  • @Spambot15

I've been looking for this! Awesome!

  • @Spambot15 all i am is a man looking for his wife and kid. anyone who get's in the way of that is gonna lose!

  • Lip syncing ?

  • @L3S3R4 Yes they are, sometimes they didn't have the option...there is a live version on here from 'sambda'. It's excellent!!! Scott never HAD to lip sync as his voice was excellent....one of the best!

  • @stillovescott Thanks !

  • It is nice to see young men acting mature and not like sex toys. They are singing a most romantic, timeless song in a masculine way, not suggestive. And the deep voice is lovely to listen to.

  • Sound a little like the Righteous Brothers. Great vocals.

  • @sausagedogheaven

You are so right....:-) Same happened to me and now 45 years old, I still keep looking up this song......and to be honest...its crap, but its a bringing-back-in-time for me...:-) And I love it!

  • I believe this is from German t.v.

  • @Veehee German beat club, Bremen

  • Thank you for posting this clip!

    ---------Ellen

  • The Greatest Hit of their. I like it

  • Heard this in the Walking Dead Trailer.

  • It still amazes me so many years later and this is still a great song. Songs like this I just never get tired of.

  • I really can't decide which era was the BEST, cause uptill the late80s there were a bunch of goodies in music ... but I think the 60s brought the new touch to many of us !!!

Such a beauty lies in their voice and they looked pretty handsome as well :-)

  • increible

  • Very nice song. Great beat. Great voice. Stands the test of time.

  • This is a remarkable song! Thanks for posting this wonderful music!

Brothers was brother who had music and lyrics in their heart!!

  • hey, i can say that this is the best version on youtube. This song is great and no one can say other things=)

  • One word-terrific!

  • name @ 2:35- heehee

  • Its one of the few songs you can name after the first 3 notes. Brill!!! Vocals outstanding!!!!!!

  • apparently this song was playing on the jukebox when ronnie kray killed george cornell

  • @bigmanoooo1 after Cornell was shot, the record stuck on the words "anymore...anymore"

  • Just how lush, rich and effortless is that voice ?

I'd swap my eye teeth for a voice like that any day

  • beautiful shiny belt buckle music

  • A great song. Always thought this was a Black group. These guys can sing. Really soulful.

  • One of the most perfect records ever made. It literally bowled the listener over with its majesty when it was first released in the Spring of 1966. Decades later, nothing has changed in that respect. A masterpiece!
