Thanks, but that's another documentary about Medieval and I think maybe Victorian era, but with the same name. This show had no VHS/DVD release, no recent reruns, and BBC doesn't give a copy EVEN TO THE PARTICIPANTS. So, unless someone recorded it in the '70s at home, when it was originally aired - there's no way of ever obtaining it. If someone knows such a person, please let me know. Seriously, I'm willing to pay for it.
@ishar88 it is available through universities/colleges, if you do a google search from a university you might be able to access the series. Good luck!
Mate, your right I remember watching it on holiday in a caravan on the Isle of wight (I was14 aswell lol) Taken from wikipedia : In 2001 the BBC repeated the experiment called "Surviving the Iron Age", which included three children of "Living in the Past's volunteers.
Strangly as I was searching for this it seems there was another series made and showed on bbc1 in may again called "Surviving the iron age"....which I missed completely lol.
I've been trying to find "Living in the Past" on DVD, but can't seem to turn it up anywhere, so it doesn't seem to have been released. Considering it is such a landmark (first reality TV show) and sounds so much more interesting than most reality TV today I'm amazed, not to mention disappointed as I so want to see it. Here's hoping the BBC see sense and release and/or repeat it.
Thanks a lot for posting this. I watched it and wish they would bring the whole show out on dvd. Is there any chance of purchasing a copy of this BBC Four Docu?
I remember watching this series when it was first shown, I thought it was a very attractive lifestyle and would still like to escape the bureaucratic and anti-social nightmare we currently endure, and live a simple life like this now.
These are actually Dwarves driven from Moria by the goblins.

didn't they re-do this in the late 90's/early 00's? I'm sure I saw something just like this when I was 14.

i was a young teenager - the women seemed exotic & hippy-ish & often semi-naked - it made an impression on me in many ways!
