Geeze!!! what a great cover. I grew up listening to this song. And, to see my favorite band play it is absolutely mind blowing!!! I wish I could have experienced this live. So, to anyone who got a chance to see this live, cherish it forever. PHISH!!!!!!!!
@leesmommyishot Trey Anastasio plays circles around Jimmy Page. You claiming to be above complimenting Trey while at the same time being surprised he can play a Page lead is laughable, much like your opinion.
@texasbeltbuckler - First of all, you have no idea what you are talking about on anything that you wrote. I wasn't dissing Trey at all. Jimmy Page is one of the best guitar players ever - and unlike Trey, he played great while he was spun out on drugs. I've been seeing Phish probably a lot longer than you, so shove your Texas southern dipshit opinion up your ass.
@leesmommyishot Wah wah- Jimmy Page played terribly while high- unfortunately, he was routinely high for a good portion of his career. In fact, here is a video of Page on stage with Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Mark Knopfler- he is so fucked up that a roadie actually comes up on stage and unplugs him in the middle of Layla. Terribly embarrassing, much like your opinion.
@deslock1 haha agreed. myself and a few others i was with recognized it right away, but a few of our friends even said "this is the sickest new phish song" haha little did they know it was led zeppelin. sick cover though
Van Halen use to cover this Zeppelin classic off of "Physical Graffitti" back in the seventies. I''ve seen Phish over 10 times; 1993,94,95,96,97,98, 2003, you get the picture. Zeppelin is one of my favorite bands of all time, and I have to say, in terms of vocals, Van Halen's version is better. Musically, Phish's version here is superior. Both bands pale in comparison to the mighty Zep, Im afraid. I have a hard time listening to Trey's voice, not his guitar though.:)
@TheArbiter74 !~ I'm not agree with the Van Halen part. I mean, I don't even like Plant's vocals in this song, but DLR was atrocious in the Van Halen version I heard.
Great cover, great set closer. So many people on the live stream of the show were questioning who this was. They were like "is this Van Halen". No, it's only the greatest rock band ever, Led Zeppelin.
seriously stash, a great set closer. Came from outta nowhere. I was freakin out when it started. They could tour just doing zeppelin tunes - that catalog is probably the most outstanding imo aside from of course beatles and stones. But the greatest rock catalog for sure

That's fantastic...considering that I'm pretty sure 3/4 of the crowd had NO clue what the song was, or who did it.
