I love this video!! I just got the crochet braids using similar hair, and its EXTRA big. Can you tell me how you thinned it out? Was it using scissors, or was it just taking some of the braids out?
I noticed in one of the pictures at the beginning you have bangs! I want to do bangs with my next crochet style, but I'm unsure of what type of braiding pattern I could use to do this effectively. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
@RandomCandle I think I did cornrows going all back for that style. In order to make the bangs just kind of haphazardly pull pieces of hair forward after it has been tied and cut pieces here and there to the desired length.
@joiedevivre323 I think that would be absolutely fine. I didn't use human hair because I was going for a cheap alternative. Human hair probably would last longer and not tangle as much.
@sumantha01 I'm usually never in a rush whenever I do my hair so this style took me about 6-7 hours. It should normally take about 4-5. It is not difficult to remove the knots. Once you start to unbraid your hair to knots and the extensions just slip out.
I was just wondering how long you were able to keep this in before the hair started to get kind of knoty?!?!?!? I have used this hair for actual braids and the ends always start to look bad after about a month so this time i decided instead of using this hair, even though i love your look, to use the actual braided synthetic hair. so let me know how this hair does please!!!
@bballplaya8638 Yeah, it lasted about 3 or 4 weeks before it started to get kind of knotted. I think I stretched it out and wore it for about 5-6 though.
Looks cute but I don't understand the benefit. Seems like a lot of work when you can get similar effect with a quick sew in....please explain if I'm mising something..
@3864267 Thanks. I wear both sew-ins and crochet braids. I think they're both great. I don't think one is better than the other. I was just showing this style b/c I like to try different techniques from time to time. Some benefits: You're able to do this style without leaving any hair out. You're able to pull all the hair in a ponytail. If any of the hair becomes tangled, you can take those single pieces out and re-add pieces as needed as opposed to having to replace a whole track with a sew in.
@MyJabbaman Hm.. I'm not really sure of how you would explain it either. I guess you could ask around at different braid shops if they do crochet braids. It's not something very common or popular though.
@MyJabbaman Hm.. I'm not really sure of how you would explain it either. I guess you could ask around at different braid shops if they do crochet braids. It's not something very common or popular though.
@MyJabbaman I'm not exactly sure how you would explain this style to a hairdresser. I guess you could call around to different braid shops and ask if they do crochet braids. It's not a style that's very common or popular though.
@Love2go2school Are you asking if the new growth shows? Not really. If you put the strands of hair really close together, then you can manipulate the hair to hide it.
@shay181922 That was actually a synthetic lace front wig from Freetress Equal. The name of the wig is Halle. It's a bob and comes out of the pack with a bump on the ends. I razored it and straightened it to get kind of an edgier look.
@tanealsa If you add small amounts of hair and place them really close together, the knots can be hidden. I wasn't trying to be that precise. Also with the hair being very curly, the knots are easy to camouflage.
Hey, I know this has nothing to do with what your video is about, but do you or anyone else think u could feel me in on how to post pics at the beginning or end of your video. I would really appreciate it if someone could help a sista out, lol. Thanks
@TiffanieM1 Hm.. I guess it depends on what program you're using to upload the video. The programs that I've used have an option to upload video and another to upload photos. Hope this helps.
was that the regular kanekalon - it look liked it was a water curl type? havent seen that curly one!.... and was there a reason why you knott the hair 4 times?? has it come loose in the past when u did crochet braids?
@winiver77 It was braiding hair from a brand called Afro Beauty Collection and I think the name of it was Jazz Deep- just a deep wave pattern. From experience, coarse and kinky hair holds one or two knots very easily. Slick and silky hair needs smaller, tighter, and more knots in order to not slip loose.
@teenumber4 Thanks for saying this because I currently have the sleek sinly hair in my head now and the knots just slip out n its drivin me crazy! I'll try this kind of hair next time. thanks :)
i know its been a while, but do u know what exact braid this was? I've been looking for the next hair style to make over spring break, and i think THIS IS IT!! i want EXACTLY ur hairstyle, so u said Afro beauty collection, but wats the name of the braid itself? french waves? deep waves? does it have a name like wigs do? length? etc
@creamegoddess I'm not sure of the length but the name of the hair was Jazz Deep. I haven't seen this hair anywhere else since, but most brands have this hair under the name Water Wave or Water Deep.
@cheezykat7 I wouldn't advise combing through the hair with a comb. I would either finger comb or brush with a wig brush in small sections. It did tangle but that was expected since it was inexpensive synthetic hair. However there are things to do to prolong the life of the hair, such as moisturizing and braiding the hair in sections before bed.
@diamond99t I would say that this style has the ability to, depending on how much hair you use and how dense it is. The way I did it, since I didn't want too much hair on my head, some of the braids were visible when I wore my hair a certain way. Also, if you make the braids smaller and put the hair closer, I am sure it will camouflage the braids fairly well.
@teenumber4 you are very welcome and i love the hair videos...i took it upon myself to get individuals braids as well dont know how long they'll last but ..we'll see..haha

@nnekiwi I wore this style for 4 weeks. And that's mainly because by 4 weeks, I'm bored with the look. Lol. The hair did tangle for two reasons 1) it's synthetic and 2) I was lazy. In order to maintain it, which is what I started doing about a week too late, braid the hair in sections at night and cover it with a bonnet. If the hair starts to get dry and tangled, detangle it using conditioner then braid it. This is what helped me to get 4 weeks out of it. Hope this helps!
Thanks alot for responding. I just did my classmate's hair today, crochet braids, they so long, and very very full, I used 4 and 3/4 packs of hair. She said she will cut it tonite, so I am waiting to see how it looks when she cuts it, I am scared of it going frizzy tangled too.....
@shoils2003 I can't stand a whole lot of hair either. I started to use a razor but since the hair was synthetic, I thought it would make a frizzy tangled mess. So instead, I used cutting shears and just cut downward in a diagonal motion.
@virgolicious82 Sorry, I actually don't have any video footage of the braid pattern but I'll try my best to explain. The front had an off center part and each side was slanted to the side towards my ear. The back part was braided straight back.
