What happens if the state tests all the people and has a 90% drug user rate with workers and welfare recipients? What people do on their own time is none of anyone's business and people who are on welfare if you take that away they will have absolutely nothing to lose... All this will do is create a HUGE influx of homeless people who could cause a lot more damage to society by not getting help. When people are in this situation they become desperate and even willing to kill to survive. 3rd world
In the Middle Ages in Britain during the reign of King Stephen in the 12th century, due to a civil war the Lords and Barons began illegal castle building without permission from the King. And the Barons etc began to abuse their positions and power to oppress and abuse ordinary people and when they could get away with it other Lords and Barons , so the castle was handy to lock people up and also protect from other Barons, 'they were called ROBBER BARONS ' this describes Scott perfectly.

I think Cenk and Alan Grayson share one thing, a delusion of grandeur. If I could buy these two for what they are really worth and sell them for what they think they are really worth, I would be a billionaire.
@DeepSouth16 "obviously you dont work or have a meaningless job with a meaningless company and dont know what you are talking about." I own my own transportation company.
@DeepSouth16 Name me one - ONE case in which someone was injured, and they ordered drug tests for the employees to see if they were on drugs the day before. You're living in a fantasy world.
@DeepSouth16 So again I put to you, would you be ok with the gov't going through your mail? Assigning a nanny to listen to all your phone conversations? If not, why not? If you have nothing to hide, then there is no problem. I put to you this - I do not do drugs, but I do have something to hide from the government. My personal life. I am alive. I am an individual person. I am not a unit to be managed for optimal efficiency at the complete cost of my humanity.
@DeepSouth16 you're quite a bigot against drug users, by the way. Bigotry is caused by ignorance. It's unfortunate you live in a country in which it's so hard to cure people of ignorance to drug use.
@DeepSouth16 fine if you don't want those evil drug users working for you, but testing everyone without just cause is what we're griping about here. Should the gov't also be able to go through your home, interrogate your friends, tap your phone calls & mail, all to make sure you aren't an evil drug user? At what point do you draw the line? Your line is draw much further than mine, apparently. And that's fine - personal preference - but my line is closer to your country's constitution than yours.
Except for the fact that innocent non-druggies will be paying their employer so his company can make mucho bucks. I would HATE and detest to work for a place like that and would quickly consider quitting in all seriousness. He doesn't care if workers are on drugs or not unless he traced ALL the drugs in his state. Not just the lower drugs that his workers can afford. He wants some money in his pocket and that's it.
@DeepSouth16 If you turn up for work and do your job, the company should mind its own business and has no right to intrude on my privacy and personal freedom.
Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) is the largest private operator of health care facilities in the world,[1] It is based in Nashville, Tennessee, United States and is widely considered to be the single largest factor in making that city a hotspot for healthcare enterprise.
The founders of HCA included two members of the Frist family, who became multi-billionaires as a result
Rick Scott served in the U.S. Navy and then went into business. He earned a business degree and law degree and joined a Dallas firm where he became partner. In 1987 he helped found the Columbia Hospital Corporation with two business partners; this merged with Hospital Corporation of America in 1989 to form Columbia/HCA and eventually became the largest private for-profit health care company in the U.S.
I am a Florida resident and I've been saying BEFORE he was elected what a crook he is! He bought his office with money he got from defrauding Medicare. He is head of OTHER healthcare businesses that are currently under investigation. It is my FIRM belief that he has close ties to pharmaceutical companies through his private businesses and that the reason he allows the Florida "pill-mills" to operate so freely is because he is receiving kick-backs from the manufacturers of those pills.
But apparently even if you have the job, you still have to get tested. I don't live in Florida, but I also have never done any drugs in my life and I'd be darned if I have to waste money just to get a negative result to keep my job. It criminalizes innocent people.
Normally, those who do not use drugs support legislation like this because it creates job security. In construction, we are tested, and it blows me away that nearly every single one of these workers actually LIKE the drug testing policies. In Texas, we are usuaally tested at hire and on occasional jobs. It is usually attached to insurance requirements, but if it were law that we tested every Monday, these guys would love it because it meant an hour work break.
I can understand if you are tested before you get the job, and the test is basically a final test for whether you get the job or not. That's easy peasy.
But if I already have worked there for years, and my employer only see's me as a way to put some quick cash into his company's pocket, then no. That's rude and offensive. To make me pay for a test for their reassurance that I don't do drugs?
I have a better ideas. Refuse the test, then sue the sh-t out of anyone who thinks they can fire you over it. Call your city counsil, have them ban it in your city. Force the governor to sue them. People need to start thinking like politicians (yea, I know) and attacking them where they take refuge. Politicians don't like looking dumb in front of ... a camera when their constituents are watching, judges when on trial, or juries when being sued.
Ok first of all I don't feel sorry for anyone who lives in Florida and voted for this guy because his company was charged with 14 felonies and any average day person with that many felony charges would never get a job above McDonalds. Also this drug testing and any subsequent investigations would use way too much of Florida's scarce resources. Honestly, that money needs to be thrown back into education cause last I checked Florida spends the lowest. Also Grayson is a crook too so he can't talk.
@DeepSouth16 I am not a liberal. I am not even from your country. I am pointing out that there are many Americans who see the gov't giving themself the ability to freely analyze your urine for no other reason than they want to see if you might be a criminal as a violation of your constitutional guarantee against search without just cause. Personally, I don't see how it could be seen as anything but.
@DeepSouth16 Firstly, companies do not have the right to hire whoever they want in most countries, including the USA. There are laws to prevent companies from excluding minorities, women, the disabled, etc. Second, we are not talking about drug users. We are talking about testing people to see if they are drug users without just cause. Re-read my mail analogy and think about it. Third, drug tests don't tell you if someone is a drug addict, only if they have drugs in their system.
This is bullshit!!! I don't even live in Florida and I'm infuriated! What is next; taking cancer patients' chemotherapy away? He makes too much money off drug addicts to "crack down" on people this way...
@DeepSouth16 Ok let's look at this from another angle, DS2. Would it be right for the government to come out and say "To work for the government, you must allow us to read all of your mail just in case you might be a terrorist. If you don't want to give us complete, unfettered access to all your private communications, then you can never be a cop, a firefighter, run for any sort of office, or work in any other public job". To me, that sounds more like a fascist than a free country.
@DeepSouth16 Since you seem to be genuinely confused by the claim that these drug tests are against your constitution, I'll point out specifically what people are claiming it is in violation of. The fourth amendment to your country's constitution is in regard to unreasonable search & seizure, and requires probable cause before granting permission for a government body to invade your person or property. The matter is debatable, but as an outside observer I would say these tests violate this.
@DeepSouth16 Many, many people are against this type of overbearing drug-testing. I haven't done drugs since I was a kid but that doesn't change the fact that I don't think it's the government's business to study my pee at will for nefarious or even benign reasons. The role of the individual is not to submit wholely to the will of the state - by your name I would think that this would be something you would agree with.
@willsbanana Lol! What is your problem? Did your mom not have to change her last name after she married your dad? What does this have absolutely anything to do with liberalism? Is your view of the world truly that clouded? You're shown obvious, blatant, flagrant abuse and corruption on the part of an individual elected official and you shout down the messenger for being bias? Fuck some Americans are so thick - do you realize you're making your entire nation a joke to the rest of us in the world?
You know, I wonder if Rick Scott protecting the rich white people and his shaved bald head might have a connection... There's only one group of racists who commonly shave their heads.
@DeepSouth16 Did you pay attention to this vid at all? Did you miss the fact that the company that performs the testing is owned by his wife (formerly owned by him). Did you miss the fact that it's unconstitutional? Did you actually look at the vid? Its not about the drug tests, its about the gov standing to gain a lot of money from his executive order. All of his decisions should be really studied hard because who knows what he got going on. It's like he's the ceo of florida.
The only thing really annoying about Cenk's MSNBC interviews is how badly he kisses up to his liberal guests at the end. Relax Cenk, I like Grayson too. But you don't have to get down and lick his balls. Just a firm "Thanks a lot for joining us" will do.
I am not surprised that so much Oxycodone is being prescribed in Florida. It's a Republicanist state. So obviously the voters are now in great pain for having been so stupid as to vote for this gangster.
@cam1126 oooooooo and rick scott pocketing money from the florida people is patriotic then? You didn't say that? well you seem to have a problem with Cenk being against Ricks Scotts agenda. Perhaps you just like it when people in power steal money from the american people.
But from my perspective, stealing money from your own people is a way to crash a nation. I'm just saying.
Why have on this loser? What is wrong with drug testing? If you have nothing to hide then what's the problem? BTW, they test for both illegal and legal drugs in a drug test.
@clunny77 This show although covering news issues is an opinion show. You comment makes no sense in relation to this clip. This show, Hardball, Glenn Beck, etc are all opinion shows if you dont want to listen to opinions watch something else. I just wish that the unbiased news organizations were not so afraid to ask tough questions ...they are so afraid to put people on the spot - but they shouldnt be they do a disservice to their viewers
@TheNewMystic Ithink you misunderstood me, i wasn't talking about TYT when i said that, I more had Fox News and CNN in mind. The reason i wrote it here is because TYT generally cover the stupid mistakes that these major American "news" networks keep making.
I actually enjoy what these guys have to say about it.

@TheMadMusicMan so many liberals?? wait....really???? Beck.......Hanity.....OReilly. Fox new has more opinion based "news" broadcasting than anyone. I do not think anyone with half a brain looks at these pople as newscasters.....MSNBC and FoxNews alike.
What a loafsome person Scott the Whore is, he would kill his own Mother for a couple of bucks, i wouldnt cry If the Mafia in Florida made a direct Hit on Rick Scott thats for sure one less problem in the world *bling bling*
But to sum it all up Americans you made your bed now SLEEP IN IT.
Let's be real: if you voted for this guy, then you get whatever comes to you. If you didn't vote, you can't complain. If you voted for someone else, then feel free to vent your rage because you're the only one who has the right to do so.
The voters of Florida got the government they wanted and deserve. If the Floridians are stupid enough to fall for all that Republican conservative bullshit, then God bless their asses.
i would take this guy even remotely seriously if he didn't snicker at the beginning of every sentence and even more so if he did not have that retarded ape. there's a reason grayson is a former representative-he's a buffoon.
@dagrimmreepa: Well, we're talking about Florida here. It's full of old, scared, rich white people (me being a whitey, however not an old, scared or rich one). What else would you expect?
I agree with cenk on all this, but what is the basis for drug testing employees or welfare recipients being "unconstitutional"? There is nothing in the constitution about drugs.
@Houshalter: True, but there are a lot of instances where the Constitution protects one's privacy, freedoms, etc. etc. etc. Teabaggers should be quite upset with Gov. Scott. This is BIG gov't in action.
@jezmundberserker So is having welfare and tons of unionized government employees honestly. I'm against welfare, but for the sake of argument let's assume it's a good thing or whatever. I think if you are voluntarily receiving free money from the government, they have a right to require to check you to see if you are involved in something that is already illegal. I think a good case could possibly be made for it being more beneficial then not, and everyone has a right to refuse.
@Houshalter: Unionized public workers account for about 6% of public workers in WI, for example. I wouldn't call that "a ton". Also, these people did not refuse to get paycuts, less healthcare coverage, etc. THEY AGREED TO IT. What they don't agree with is to have their collective bargaining rights stripped away. I've never been in a union and hope never to need one. But they are a part of society which has had a lot less to do with our current crisis than those Wall Street bastards.
@Tony007corp No Cenk did not talk crap about Grayson, just type in "young turks grayson" in the search box....he has lost of segments where he praises Grayson for standing up for what is right
This man is a sociopath , willing to do whatever it takes to rob the state clean. THEY were advised before yet Fl being a state with a majority of ignorants....there you go.....
@classicallady fail. key word. TRADE UNIONISTS, they wanted to cut bargaining rights for....GOVERNMENT UNIONS. you libtards just live in your own little world of brainwashed kool-aid and watch these guys and just walk through light with rose colored glasses.
He's obviously doing it for the money. That said, it's great to see that the people of Florida have woken up already, that's something I wasn't expecting.
@dinex2 dont take it so personal, i just gave cenk a thumbs up on a fire fighter story, but on the one in question it was shotty journalism/comentary with contribution from a the biggest liar in the state who was blown out of the water by the people who put him in after 1 term.cenk was unpreparred or just plain irresponsible! that only thing that has to be determined is which one. grayson lol if i asked grayson what time is it i would verify if it were true, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Personal? All I did was ask you to present something to support your claims of untruthfulness because I actually want to know. Maybe you should stop taking things so personally.
You put a lot of elderly folks in one state that think they can't be wrong..EVER!; And you get a wad of filth. So live with it, you rich, white, old, non-caring, look at me golfing pricks!
@dinex2 , i dont have to prove it. i gather my news from several sources and form my own decisions and opinions. this is not a pissing match.so much info was left out on purpose to mislead it is sick, scott and bondi have launched a crack down on pill mills, and the clinics in question participate in medicare scams.huge problem in fl.thats why the avg scripts for these meds are wayhigher then in any other state, scott is no saint but grayson is 100 x's worse.(cont)
Canadian nurse who used to work in Florida, health care needs so desperate there, very ill people collapsing while waiting in line for a free clinic. I am so sorry for you guys, and yet things seem to getting worse, while the mansions on the waterways just change hands. Florida is so wonderful and I miss you all. But damn, what the frig is going on down there.
i think all these officials should be drug tested, not us. look at the decisions they make and the ridiculous ideas and agendas they come up with. its like a fucking cartoon most of the time. these people want to drug test? hey how bout you worry less about fucking drugs and more about families going hungry night after night after night. its time to stand up and say no to these ridiculous people.
I think corruption is in both party's so what difference would it make if the Dems not turning out in 2010 analogy is correct? Obamama is perfect of example giving the Republicans whatever they want, it's all just a show big buisness runs America.Like when your computer gets so jammed with garbage the hardrive needs to be wiped and reset to default settings. The constitution.
@Americansoldier11x You know its funny the level of stupidity you possess, the bill activates in stages with the final stage starting in 2014, maybe if you actually read the healthcare plan you would know that but Republicans dont know how to read so I dont blame you for your lack of knowledge. The insurance sent a letter to my dad stating that because of the healthcare bill they cant deny anyone for pre existing conditions. If not for the bill my dad would have died of cancer.
American soldier, did you get half your brain blown out in the war? Cenk just spelled it out for you. He's only doing this because of the money that he'll get from the drug testing company.
@groovyengineer Force them to enter rehab or forfeit their welfare benefits. If they have children, have them taken away and put into good homes. Welfare does a lot of good for people who need it, but it's got a bad name because of the amount of people who abuse the system. It shouldn't be tolerated.
@ProdProcrastination what if they lose their job by no fault of their own, and used to watch football drink beer, and smoke pot at their buddies house on the weekend? Kids taken away put in a foster home , denied welfare and must live on the streets eating garbage? I'm just asking because that seems harsh.
@groovyengineer If they lost their job then of course they should be getting the help they need. Alcohol is water-soluable. There would be NO sign of it in a drug test. It would be gone by the time they came for a drug test, unless of course they're drunk all the time. And if they no longer have a job, then they shouldn't be spending what little money they have on getting high. If I had my way, marijuana would be legalized. I'm talking about more serious drugs. Cocaine, meth, etc.
@ProdProcrastination i dont want to flame you since you seem to be a reasonable person and all, but do you know how long "serious drugs" are detectable in urine for? pot can be up to 30 days, nearly everything else is a few days. you can do meth friday night and pass a piss test monday afternoon. these are not "drug tests" they are "MARIJUANA TESTS"! you really want to waste time and money to know who smokes pot?
@groovyengineer I don't mind my tax dollars going to help someone who genuinely needs it. But I'm on the brink myself, with every penny I earn going into trying to educate myself so I can have the better life my mother wanted for me. We spent YEARS on the brink of serious poverty, and I'm sick of people using the system and spending money on drugs. They don't deserve to have my hard earned money if they're not even going to TRY. Otherwise, I'm glad to help someone besides myself.
@groovyengineer I understand it sounds severe. I'd like to point out that I didn't say immediate removal of assistance. If they're addicted to something, they should go to rehab. It's only if they flat out refuse to get the help needed as well as refusing to stop using the government issued money for drugs that measures be taken.
@ProdProcrastination well I guess my point would be that once you start forcing people to do things just because they are the poorest people and say things like its my tax dollars!, and they should have too! ect ect. you have created a sub category of people, for no other reason then being piss poor, and thats a slippery slope. Of coarse there are people who dont give a shit on welfare commiting crimes to support drug habits, but theres alot of white collars doing the exact same thing.
@evanWith7 Well it just so happens the main race thats jacking up our country are rich white people. When a guy gets robbed at night or some dude is caught with drugs here in florida the first thing said is "had to be a black guy". Rick Scott just bought everyone who had pull in Fl. Now with that said i think Rick Scott needs to resign just like the Libyans and Syrians want thier corrupt govt.'s to resign.
"Rich white people" isn't a God dammed fucking race. It's just something morons say when they want to bitch about things. Oh it's just those rich WHITE people. Not rich anyone else, just rich WHITE people, because of course, as everyone knows, it's only when WHITE people have money that bad things happen. ANY OTHER RACE with money has proven throughout history to be completely free of wrong doing.

Asking Cenk for help? LOL!

Fluffyking65 11 months ago
@DeepSouth16 I am not a liberal. I am not even from your country. I am pointing out that there are many Americans who see the gov't giving themself the ability to freely analyze your urine for no other reason than they want to see if you might be a criminal as a violation of your constitutional guarantee against search without just cause. Personally, I don't see how it could be seen as anything but.
StevenBee2 11 months ago
@DeepSouth16 Firstly, companies do not have the right to hire whoever they want in most countries, including the USA. There are laws to prevent companies from excluding minorities, women, the disabled, etc. Second, we are not talking about drug users. We are talking about testing people to see if they are drug users without just cause. Re-read my mail analogy and think about it. Third, drug tests don't tell you if someone is a drug addict, only if they have drugs in their system.
StevenBee2 11 months ago
@DeepSouth16 and what of the state employees already in a position? Are they supposed to quit their jobs for minimum wage!?

@bodeezy ...You are SOOOO right! Check out Floridians against Rick Scott on Facebook.
cherylkostarlong 11 months ago
@DeepSouth16 Ok let's look at this from another angle, DS2. Would it be right for the government to come out and say "To work for the government, you must allow us to read all of your mail just in case you might be a terrorist. If you don't want to give us complete, unfettered access to all your private communications, then you can never be a cop, a firefighter, run for any sort of office, or work in any other public job". To me, that sounds more like a fascist than a free country.
StevenBee2 11 months ago
@DeepSouth16 Since you seem to be genuinely confused by the claim that these drug tests are against your constitution, I'll point out specifically what people are claiming it is in violation of. The fourth amendment to your country's constitution is in regard to unreasonable search & seizure, and requires probable cause before granting permission for a government body to invade your person or property. The matter is debatable, but as an outside observer I would say these tests violate this.
StevenBee2 11 months ago
@DeepSouth16 Many, many people are against this type of overbearing drug-testing. I haven't done drugs since I was a kid but that doesn't change the fact that I don't think it's the government's business to study my pee at will for nefarious or even benign reasons. The role of the individual is not to submit wholely to the will of the state - by your name I would think that this would be something you would agree with.

All of his decisions should be really studied hard because who knows what he got going on. It's like he's the ceo of florida.

I agree with cenk on all this, but what is the basis for drug testing employees or welfare recipients being "unconstitutional"? There is nothing in the constitution about drugs.
Houshalter 11 months ago
@Houshalter: True, but there are a lot of instances where the Constitution protects one's privacy, freedoms, etc. etc. etc. Teabaggers should be quite upset with Gov. Scott. This is BIG gov't in action.
jezmundberserker 11 months ago
@jezmundberserker So is having welfare and tons of unionized government employees honestly. I'm against welfare, but for the sake of argument let's assume it's a good thing or whatever. I think if you are voluntarily receiving free money from the government, they have a right to require to check you to see if you are involved in something that is already illegal. I think a good case could possibly be made for it being more beneficial then not, and everyone has a right to refuse.
Houshalter 11 months ago
@Houshalter: Unionized public workers account for about 6% of public workers in WI, for example. I wouldn't call that "a ton". Also, these people did not refuse to get paycuts, less healthcare coverage, etc. THEY AGREED TO IT. What they don't agree with is to have their collective bargaining rights stripped away. I've never been in a union and hope never to need one. But they are a part of society which has had a lot less to do with our current crisis than those Wall Street bastards.

Push for pro-Drug Testing for public employees of the State/Gov't, or ideally for him, everywhere.
He happens to have founded or own a large drug testing medical company.
Deregulate and stop keeping tabs on one of the most widely abused prescription drugs (opiate-based pain killers).
Suddenly because of the untracked prescriptions, the state mandated drug tests catches abusers. Claim system works.
Our gov't can't get too big and do this, yet if its private and manufactured offseas its OK?

groovyengineer 11 months ago
@groovyengineer Force them to enter rehab or forfeit their welfare benefits. If they have children, have them taken away and put into good homes. Welfare does a lot of good for people who need it, but it's got a bad name because of the amount of people who abuse the system. It shouldn't be tolerated.

@ProdProcrastination what if they lose their job by no fault of their own, and used to watch football drink beer, and smoke pot at their buddies house on the weekend? Kids taken away put in a foster home , denied welfare and must live on the streets eating garbage? I'm just asking because that seems harsh.
groovyengineer 11 months ago
@groovyengineer If they lost their job then of course they should be getting the help they need. Alcohol is water-soluable. There would be NO sign of it in a drug test. It would be gone by the time they came for a drug test, unless of course they're drunk all the time. And if they no longer have a job, then they shouldn't be spending what little money they have on getting high. If I had my way, marijuana would be legalized. I'm talking about more serious drugs. Cocaine, meth, etc.
ProdProcrastination 11 months ago
@ProdProcrastination i dont want to flame you since you seem to be a reasonable person and all, but do you know how long "serious drugs" are detectable in urine for? pot can be up to 30 days, nearly everything else is a few days. you can do meth friday night and pass a piss test monday afternoon. these are not "drug tests" they are "MARIJUANA TESTS"! you really want to waste time and money to know who smokes pot?
largegrainsofsalt 11 months ago
@groovyengineer I don't mind my tax dollars going to help someone who genuinely needs it. But I'm on the brink myself, with every penny I earn going into trying to educate myself so I can have the better life my mother wanted for me. We spent YEARS on the brink of serious poverty, and I'm sick of people using the system and spending money on drugs. They don't deserve to have my hard earned money if they're not even going to TRY. Otherwise, I'm glad to help someone besides myself.
ProdProcrastination 11 months ago
@groovyengineer I understand it sounds severe. I'd like to point out that I didn't say immediate removal of assistance. If they're addicted to something, they should go to rehab. It's only if they flat out refuse to get the help needed as well as refusing to stop using the government issued money for drugs that measures be taken.
ProdProcrastination 11 months ago
@ProdProcrastination well I guess my point would be that once you start forcing people to do things just because they are the poorest people and say things like its my tax dollars!, and they should have too! ect ect. you have created a sub category of people, for no other reason then being piss poor, and thats a slippery slope. Of coarse there are people who dont give a shit on welfare commiting crimes to support drug habits, but theres alot of white collars doing the exact same thing.
