  • How do u set the trim?

  • its called fraps bubba

  • @PhatFarm60 It's called pointing at things with your hand phatso.

  • @musicalaviator, Thank you very much for the advice on the vertical speeds and I will execute that. I was referring to a Beechcraft King Air350 (not equipped with FMC) All my PMDG 747s have a problem. I hope you can help, I have no CRTs not for the CMD or the EICAS display. I tried the brightness, failures and reinstalled the program. Same thing just black. I have to fly it by the needles. All displays are black. No flight director. The FMC is functional.

  • @Psycho9263 Sounds like a registry problem. Google the term 'FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool' and the first result should be from flight1. It's freeware. What the issue is, sometime you'v moved addon aircraft or scenery into your Flightsim without installing it properly (usually happens if you are fixing something from a hdd crash or similar). PMDG's anti-piracy system requires everything to be recognized by FS properly. this program fixes the registry of files FS uses so PMDG can see it properly.

  • nice how do you enter data into the co route so we can select it for flightplan. i mean how do we store a flighplan to selct it?

  • How do you pop up that window ??

  • shift/1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0

  • what r your computer specs?

  • hey do u think u can send me email what to do in fmc step by step it wil really help me thanxs reply bck and i will give u my email thanxs

  • what the game is it?

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator X

  • how do you find out your CO ROute?

  • you Make it in simroutes, place it in the right folder in flight simulator, and type it's name in CoRoute in the Route page minus the file extention .fpn . For instance if I created a flightplan which flew a circle around Orlando and called it MICKYMOUSE.fpm then the co-route entry for that flightplan in the PMDG FMC RTE page would be MICKEYMOUSE (incidently it should be only 11 characters long to work)

  • Usually after i take off..i don't know where i am what airport is down me, what is my position..and there is no map to tell me..if you could help me it would be great :)

  • You must descend to approximately 2000ft and try to see if you can find airport nearby...hehe!

  • @musicalaviator What vertical speed to you reccommend for T/O?

  • @Psycho9263 That's like asking what Revs per minute to use on your car to travel on a highway. What you should use is the Indicated airspeed indicator and for the first 1000ft of climb, stay at v2+20, after this you can follow Vnav and your flap retraction schedule if your speed isn't limited by a SID. If you are trying to maintain a specific airspeed and are slowing down, push forward. pull back for if you are arresting an increasing airspeed. Vertical speed isn't fixed. Follow Flight Director

  • Not a bad first (?) time effort, but...

Use a checklist next time, so you don't get things out of order or forget things... Don't forget to set your baro (something you should have learned in your Cessna ;)).

    Tips:

    1) Your "Company Route" should already contain DEP and ARR airports, so a separate entry is not required.

    2) The A/P adds 10 knots to MCP speed, not 20.

    3) They are Generator Control Breakers (not "continuous")

  • 4) Don't confirm V speeds until after you have entered the runway information

    5) Why did you enter YMML on your POS INIT page when your IRS's have already been aligned?

    6) Official colours for the LNAV route are cyan and magenta ;)

    7) Adding 10 degrees to 24 degrees for a thrust derate is basically pointless. Did the thrust limit change?

  • 8) At least 2 packs should be turned off, irrrespective of what PMDG does ;)

    9) You should be monitoring N3 (or N2 depending on the engine type) during start (and the closure of the start valve at around 50%N3)... i.e. light out in the start switch.

    Q) Why did you start 2&3 engines first?

  • WHERE DO YOU TAKING OFF?

  • Much fun with my products wish!

  • YMML

  • how do you use that thing you where using when the move begins?

  • how do u do the route from CYYZ (toronto) to KJFK (NYC)???!!!

  • Do you use the default FS planner to navigate? If not, How do you make the ATC to cooperate with the FMC. Because sometimes when you go offcourse the ATC will start nagging. I hope that makes sense.

  • No to all. Charts, or flightaware website for flightplans. Vatsim for ATC. see vatsim*dot*net

  • Also, although I'm not sure whether this is much an issue on 747, but the hydraulic/electric pumps either A or B that powers the flaps must be off before restoring hydraulic pressure during APU/engine start (flap will be move without clearance). Nose wheel gear pressure also restores on that particular reservoir making pushback a little more resilient.

It is interesting to know for reallife procedures but not in the sim, but it helps and makes it interestingly reliastic and rewarding!

  • I also have an FCOM which I'm currently in the process of finishing, this allows me to understand the effects of pressing a switch, the procedures, everything there is to now regarding the 737/3. Set the cabin pressure at 200 feet below field elevation to maintain .125 differential/prs bumps in flight mode before departure, reset during the climb.

It is also handy to purchase simplates X which will allow you to fly an approach as precisely as possible not to mention more realistically.

  • I have the wilco PIC 737 which utilises the full replicated version of the CDU, which makes entering a flighplan onto it an absolute dream. However calculations need to be made such as the grossweight/reserve fuel and eco / cruise alt / oat etc before a ZFW can be calculated on the performance page and V numbers and approach speeds set up. Position update can be made on the runway and on the dep/arr button SID/STARS can be selected for that route.

  • wow good video mate im downloading this now looks like what ive allways wanted.. What fsx SHould be like lol dont know why they cut so manny coners

  • hey i got the pmdg 747, i cant seem to find a good VA for flying it, i have about 210 verifiable hours even though in total i probly have well over 900 with VA's, what would u suggest musicalaviator?

  • i need help how do u make a co route and wat do u do for the legs cause i need help wit that

  • I actually made it in the FMC about 3 months prior to this video, then changed it's name from the default save which was YMMLVHHH001

  • Yep, Website. I got the downloader version, but you can buy the box version too. (just takes longer to get it in the mail than downloading off the net, but you get a CD which you can reinstall off). I'v also seen it at a shop I like to hang out at in Sydney (moved to melbourne now doh lol) which used to have lots of Flightsim stuff that was fairly unusual, like Flytampa scenerys, PMDG planes, LDS, etc...

  • Is there somewhere i can contact the guys who made PMDG?

  • precicionmanuals*com

  • Hi,

Great Video! I was wondering which program you used to put the flight plan in the co-route from YMML-VHHH. Did you use fsbuild?

  • Try precisionmanuals*com rather. Typo from musicalaviator ;)

  • ah yes. That :P

  • I wonder why they dont make a PMDG A380?

  • maybe because it's taken them 3 years to make an MD-11? :P

  • The PMDG sounds more realistic than the standard 747 in FSX

  • Well, that thing costs 60Euro for FS9, it really should sound better :D

  • i will buy a big 22 inch widescreen lol

  • Yep. It should indeed.

  • do you know if the 747-400 works with goflight inc products??

  • hi!where can i find flight plan??

  • How did you have your NAV and PFD screens fully running before IRS alignment?

  • Easy... I didn't.

IRS alignment didn't occur in this video, it happened "before" 0:00

  • Or you could get Fs2Crew and let your first officer carry his own weight around and increase realism :)

  • How do you get the Co-Route??

  • my engines are already staretd when i laods the pmdg, does my head in. iwanna start thme myself but i get this shit, how do i make it so the aircraft is from cold

  • Menu bar to PMDG menu, panel state, load panel state, Cold and Dark KPAE.

Or go through the shutdown checklist and save that panel state.

  • hi nice videos, how do you change the trim? i have looked every where but cant find the vertical/elevator trim wheel or switch. thanks ahead

  • o go to help in the tool bar then look for pmdg then start up.

  • cheers, found it

  • hey can anyone help me?Plzz read this...A message comes and it says:

your fuel level are critically low, press ctrl+x to refuel in the selected tank. When i refuel it again it comes.I prexx again.Okay then when i take off retract the landing gear warning signals start to blow off it said"confin landing gear"then all of a sudden my plane stalls

  • You need to refuel by PMDG Load manager

  • i have had pmdg for about 5 weeks.for my spped it will let me only go about between 290 and 330 knots.i dont know if its normal or if theres anything i can do.

  • 290-330 knots INDICATED airspeed is about right. at 33000ft this will be about Mach 0.83-0.87 aka 83-87 percent the speed of sound. Check on the Navigation screen the speed marked "GS" aka Groundspeed. This will be up near 480 - 550 knots depending on winds and such. Indicated airspeed is about how many air particles are going into the pitot probe, Groundspeed is how fast you are going across the planet. These will be different.

  • so it will just be on the nav screen, you dont have to go to the menu or anything its just on the panel..i also have some other questions.

  • but whats is the c-rute milan to london heathrow??

  • You'd need to have it saved there either by manually entering it yourself and saving, or by downloading a co-route from somewhere on the net like avsim*com or pmdg itself. another idea is to use simroutes*com to create a route using the "Generate routes" link and saving as PMDG file. these need to be placed in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\PMDG\Flightplans

A logical name choice would be MILLHR01 or LIMCEGLL001

It will come up invalid route if nothing is presaved.

  • thanks vary much musicalaviator

  • what's is melhkg?and why 01?

  • MELHKG01 is the pre-saved Co-Route for MEL to HKG (route number 01)... Technically you can name it anything you want. I could name it PINKUNICORNS and if I type that into co-route it would look for the file named PINKUNICORNS.rte in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\PMDG\Flightplans

  • thanks for this post! I have a problem whit this airplane, don´t follow the route. I configured the IRS as it should be, but only i remain the first waypoint all other waypoints no :( . Sorry for my english. Alguien puede responderme en ingles? gracias/ THANKS

  • can anyone explain to me the purpose of the flight director? or versus the autopilot? Thanks!

  • The A/P follows the Flight director.

  • HI I also have the PMDG 747-400x GREAT addon :)...can you tell me, on your video you put in a co-route, is this necessary and if so then how would go about setting the co-route to any of my flights? THANX

  • Hello, its me again :P Loving my PMDG 747-400 :) Just one quick thing, how do you get the 70% N1 mark to show up? :} thanks.

  • I just got the pmdg a few days ago and i am vey new to i am sure you noticed and its n ot esy to get it right first time not even second ;).

  • how do you enter the ils frequency cause on my com panel only the radio frequency works the rest of the buttons wont work?

  • in the FMC, check RADNAV button :)

  • thanks i try, but how do i get the frequency do i have to go on map or somewere else? and by the way ihave to congrat you the vids you make they are very much in dept and easy to follow.

  • when you select runway it will automatically put the ILS frequency for the runway in NAVRAD page of the FMC. if you do nothing it will activate the ILS at or before 4000ft. or you can manually activate it by clicking on the frequency line twice when in the navrad page.

  • everything was fine all of a sudden i get discontinuity now i cannot switch on the LNAV i am flying only on VNAV can i fix it while flying:(

  • Click the waypoint below the discontinuity and then click a waypoint above it, or on the boxes (disco) itself. as long as the 2 waypoints arn't the same in which case you will need to put the waypoint on top of it's duplicate. Always lower one pushing up. ABC WOL [][][] WOL ETC becomes ABC WOL ETC By selecting the lower version of WOL and placing it on top of the higher one.
  • i cant program it says. not in database any idea? my product. pmdg 747-400x fsx

  • what waypoints are you trying to input?

  • u need a new navigation database or checj ur writing

  • can somebody tell me why sometimes when i satart playing after i ll be about 15 min to start the 747 and put all the info in the fmc then i find that the plane is not responding or only certain functions will respond example i put the throttle on full and only one engine is working asnd the fmc do i have to set up something cause followed all tut on Y/T and some times when i pt some thing it says entry not valid or not in database i am fustrated.

  • i am following your tutorial for the FMC when i put my co route in and activate it says NOT IN DATABASE from what i under stood you had it set how you set it?

  • Check the Video Response video ;)

  • When you set to flaps 5, what pitch was your plane positioned at, and when do you have to retract the flaps fully... thanks :]

  • follow the prompts on the speed tape

    -10

    -5

    -up

Pitch is whatever the flight director is asking for at the time. Angle of attack/speed is more important.

  • But when do i put them all the way up, ok i get when to put them to 10, when the Flight director crosshair moves down to 10, 10 flap... then do i do that when it moves to 5, then the plane is leveling out to start cruising, all the way up?

  • ah. no. Look at the speed tape on the left. (SPEED) little green tags show flap settings for taking up flap. Pitch has nothing to do with it. Pitch will cause climb (or speed change as a result of climb) flap is just flap. removing flap decreases drag (allows better climb) and reduces lift (makes the stall speed higher). Requirement to reduce flap is a certain speed. Also flaps will be damaged at too high a speed due structural drag.

  • Ahhhhhhh i see now :) i just watched it in full screen mode, and its like little green or yellow tags :) i see now :P thanks for your help!! :) still waiting for my PMDG 747-400 CD to be delierved :P cant wait :] thanks again man! carry on with the great work :)

  • Does the FMC read the default nav data or do you have to download it?

  • thanks

  • i have a problem with the PMDG pfd and other displays. i don't see the blue or brown parts i only see the aispeeed and altitude tapes. it also saids No VSPD on the attitude indicator . it was working throughout a whole flight i did yesterday but today i get that message. i also dont know how to turn on the APU correctly

  • What you speak of is the IRS not being Alligned, The gyroscopes which detect the aircraft motion are off. Check my video on IRS allignment and Route Programming.

  • The panel for the PMDG is simply amazing, is there anyway i can purcahse the the panel and not the whole aircraft? Where can i find this panel for free, or is any body willing to send it to me? thanks

  • i personally think its not the best way to do it.. better buy it so PMDG gets money to make more and better planes.. but yes its an option. :)

  • i personally think it's illegal. and thus mark their comments as spam.

  • Guys, my Push back thingy doesn't work. Like it won't turn on, and the front wheel doens't turn, and i'm pretty sure i installed, and put the registry in OK.

  • check "Right click" the pushback button, set up the turn and distance, then "Left Click" same button. Wheels won't turn if you are stationary (otherwise they'd destroy the tyres with 400 tonnes sitting on it trying to pivot). Registry is only if the screens go black after 3 minutes.

  • oh ok wells thanks so much for the help bud. So the front wheel doesn't turn even when your taxing, or just moving around with the aircraft.

  • it should move when you have forward speed. (not slew). if your not turning during taxi with steering deflection, check your hydraulics.

  • yea thanks for the help, it the front wheel turns with the ailrons, but not with the rudder.

  • you might have "Auto-coordination" ticked in Flight Simulator Options.

  • Just noticed it's called "TFC" with markings for 10 20 40 80 160 320 640

  • Same button, but it's called something else :P

  • I just use mouse scroll wheel on the Range which is just under the Altimiter/QNH knob. Left and Right click will also work.

  • I did some flying, 23 hours logged and 2.8 hours solo in Cessna 172's. Not a 'real' pilot, but a bit realer than some I spose.

  • yeh you have to have routes in the database, I should really make another video on how to create and save routes, might do that on wednesday as I am going to be flying the 747 on Vatsim from Sydney to Los Angeles that day.

  • Do you have a video teaching how to operate the PMDG747-400F cargo door (open/close)?

  • o nevermind i fixed it. i tried reinstaling then it started working correctly. thank god i didn't delete anymore PMDG files manually.

  • can u help me? everytime i load up fsx with pmdg 747, my glass models airspeed indicators and everythig turns off. and i can't get them back the engines start but the displays arfe still missing.

  • Check your Windows, Flightsim and PMDG registries. It's PMDG's "Piracy protection" software, but it needs the Registries in place to work. Reinstallation will occasinally be required of FS or PMDG for it to be fixed. (or the obvious buying of the plane)

  • i bought it i think i installed it wrong, or tempered with the registries.

  • can anybody give me a copy of the pmdgb747? please im begging you!!!!!!

  • the FMC does it on it's own on the 747. Assuming there is an ILS for that runway. You can check it in the RADNAV page on the FMC once you have begun decent and have runway set.

  • cheers.

  • hey mate where do u put the FMC ROutes after u download them?

  • Flight Simulator 9\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS

  • woow great video, i tried the FMC today and ended up flying to 3 different SID navaids before starting on my main route Oo i suck

  • what game is that, fs2004, or fsx?? if it is fs2004, where can i get the enhanced 747 scenery and how do i get it???

  • it's from PMDG it's a add on aircraft, it will cost you about 60 euros but if you like realism you'll love the 747 from PMDG

  • oh, ok, thx

  • i have a problem with this pmdg 747 .... i dont have the 3 big screens from the panel iluminated... at the bigining wheh i start a game for example it.s on for 30 second and the he stop... cand you tell my why ?

  • reinstall flightsim then the PMDG. it's the PMDG's 'piracy protection' feature... however it will sometimes activate if you have had registry problems with windows (ie reinstalled window) without reinstalling Flightsim.

  • is it on cold and dark. sometimes the screens load up, but then go to your setting of cold and dark which you might have your cockpit set at. either change that or turn ur batteries and such on and get that bitch roaring

  • Hello, when I fly the 747 it usually starts at the runway ,I set flaps 10, HDG runway direction, Vert Spd 1500, Climb speed 220kts, V1 155kts, Vr 166kts ,V2 170kts on the autopilot panel it goes nicely but uses alot of runway. Are these the correct settings?

  • did you watch the video at all?

in short. "no" those settings are not correct.

  • Oh yes,I watched it,I am doing as you say,all the info gets entered, but when I attempt to enter the airport Im departing I get"NOT IN DATA BASE" after pressing Route. I did KMIA to KJFK but without the FMC.

  • great video! it was very informative. i've got two questions: did the pushback timer come with the panel, or did you have to download it? and where did you get the jetway?

  • everything on the plane comes with the base product for PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies.

Jetway was from Vista Australis VOZ1.5 scenery which is freeware scenery for all of australia.

  • Hi, I've got an iFly 744 panel (which is remarkably similar to the PMDG), But I can't seem to find the avionics master switch, to turn on the PFD, and display the full attitude indicator. The radios are working, but the avionics still appear to be off.

    Any help??

  • 747's don't have avionics master switches as such, but rather a battery/bus switch and a source switch (engine generators 1234, APU, Ground Power and Battery).

A good way to do things is start with engines on and progressivley shut down systems till you feel you understand how things work. iFly's overhead is it's weakest side though and occasionally I find things missing on it.

  • ok, thanks for the help.

  • how so u get up the planes computer screen?

i mean the thing u are programing

  • top bar has a few 'buttons' (you can press the centre windscreen post thing to open and shut that window). the button for the FMC should be either "FMC" or "CDU". You can also access First Officer side panel, radio panel and throttle pedistal and overhead using that panel.

  • Procedure is runway specific -- select departure, transition and runway on the gate

 Set the final "maintain" altitude on the departure in the MCP window as usual

 Place both HSI switches to NAV

     Select LNAV at 400'

 Select Autopilot ON as soon as feasible above 1200' AFE (suggest after initial flap retract, normally flaps 5 to 1)

     Select VNAV above 3000'

 Advise Departure on initial call that you are RNAV. Example: Charlotte Departure, USAir 123 2 climbing 14, RNAV

  • Fot the sake of truth, I have to say that the above comment I made, contains a procedure for B737.

As I have did some researches, indeed the take off for B747 is as shown in this video (LNAV&VNAV connected)

  • It does of course depend on the runway, as some runways SID's are just a climb gradient requirement and a heading. Of course in this case you would handfly using VNAV connected, and select HDG-Select mode at the perscribed height then await further ATC instructions from departures, with an expectation to do a direct-to a waypoint after which engaging L-NAV.

  • Grea Great Great just great man, that was really good, and informative. your a pro. thanks again. Just wanted to know if you can make one on FMC/ILS landings, and stuff. I don't even know if the FMC and ILS landing are the same or what. Also does the FMC descent, and reduce/control speed for you while your in the air?

  • Excellent video tutorial! Lots of things to learn! Only one thing to be asked: Are you taking off LNAV/VNAV connected? Because, the real life's RNAV Departure procedure (US Airways) is as follows: (I had to split the text!)

  • Thanks for sharing one of the nicest video for PMDG users. I just got the FSX version and I still can't understand what the co-route is. If I don't input one, of course I don't get a precise route to where my destination is. How did you understand the concept of this? Did you go through the mannuals?

  • I started with FMC's in 2001 with the PIC767. so had plenty of practice. the Co-route only works with some routes which you can pre-save. I got mine from a few places including simrotes com and avsim com and austscene com.

  • how did you get the RR Eicas on the Pax version?

  • by having the Freight version it updates the Pax version to have EET and such.

  • how do u get the aircraft

  • precisionmanuals com

  • how do you set a coroute?

  • Theres a few ways, one is to type in the route manually in the Page 2 of Route page then on Page 1 select the copy route or similar term on line select second last left. Or you can download full sets of coroutes from avsim, or simroutes com also can save as coroutes. The method I used was avsim or austscene com.

  • nice..well done!

  • Hi, can you please tell how can I move faster when I hit full reverse to move away from the gates? It takes half a hour to move 10m backwards :) I have PDMG 747-400.

    Thank you!

  • Open Comms Panel.

At the bottom right click the little pushback bar (a little grey/black/white square between 2 black rectangles with white circles beneath them) then select 40 metres and left click the middle one again. Obey the voice instructions. Reverse thrust for backing off the gate will destroy windows and engines in real life.

  • darijo203 you move back with shift+p and nor reverse thrust

  • voz vista australis. Not from avsim. but still free.

  • Alright mate. That was a very tutorial on how to use the FMC. I suppose it'll takle a while for me to know it by heart, but i'll get there. Cheers though. Can't wait untill PMDG 747 gets released for FSX this september, should be good.

  • indeed. I hear also that the 737 will be updated to reflect more closeley the technology involved in the 747 also, ie First officer side. Independant Altimeters, better FMC and overhead, working IRS etc.

  • when you free could you contact me please because i have a problem with this procedure and i know that you'll be able to help me. thank you

  • I admit I did actually know that but simplified the overhead setup to save time since it will actually work on PMDG with the autostart engaged. but yes, it's a good thing to note if your trying to sim realistically

  • thanks for that. I went back through the (admittedly well dated 1990's) manual again I had for 747's and found that on the ground only 1 packs is used.

  • That's I think, part of the SID as there is an altitude crossing restriction at a waypoint on climb. That's there to indicate your vert profile. Just make sure you follow all the FMC steps and have LNAV/VNAV engaged with the Flight Director on and it should work

  • Very good tutorial, thanks a lot for this! Only 1 little thing you did wrong, you should set your autothrottle speed at V2+15 is you want to be realistic. If i'm right, that's what most pilots do. Thanks a again for this!

  • Actually according to the Qantas Airlines handbook for the -400. The setting is to V2 and the computer should automatically select V2+20 after takeoff. Other airlines and PMDG say Set +20, but then the computer sets +40 for about 1/2 a second then flicks back to +20. V2+20 is what I usually use myself, but I was going off the QF manual for that one. The main thing I got wrong was Hydraulics panel for startup. but I was simplifying a bit.

  • can this be done for fsx ????

  • you have to buy the plane.

  • precisionmanuals-dot-com

  • hey thnx! FINALY-- ive been looking for thistype of website for ages

  • Basically why I made it ;) Had a number of recurring questions on various forums so I thought I'd just do one video, since seeing it happen piece by piece can be more usefull than words alone sometimes.

  • While being at the gate, your Hydraulic demand pumps should be off. Only in the case that your brake pressure is not in the green arc, you should set hyd pump # 4 to AUX. Before engine start you should make sure nr1 is on, 2/3 off and 4 in the aux position as backup for the brakes. After engine start you should put all to on.

    JC

  • Thanks for that, yeh missed much of the Overhead procedure there didn't I.

  • not a bad idea... I'v been considering this for a couple of days now and once I return back to Melbourne (and my simming computer) I'll get to work on it.

  • can you hold the vid cam a bit rigid. It makes me feel dizzy
