It does sound a bit flat when the sopranos are reaching the high notes. We sang this song for all-state 2-year college choir this year at the Texas Music Educators Association Convension. Yeah it is flat... the high notes are a bit flat, overall very good job.
@malchikcrazy09 Oh I didn't know. In Georgia we also have All-State choirs (Mixed and Treble) for 7th and 8th grade, and 6th graders have their own in their GMEA districts.
We are doing this for this this year's Honor Choir too in California. It was really confusing and I didn't like it, but after I got it memorized, now it seems really fun.
We we're learning this in chorus but our teacher decided it was too complicated although I like the high parts and the "prai-ai-ai-ai-ai-ai-se" part hahahhaha.
it bores me cuz my choir class which is the highest in OUR school. keep on singin this song so we can learn it for our concert.... its fun tho like some part >.> im a alto just sayin, my choir teacher show us this song today lol us alto was like o we gonna sound like them durin da concert psh ya right xD
they did it well, but they are bright and they started pretty round in the beginning, they just didn't hang on to it very long. we're doing this song. we JUST started learning it and we sound better...but i go to a school that's very well known for having one of the best music programs in the whole state (: haha we're excellent!
you obviously have no idea how excellent our music program is at our school do you? i'm pretty sure that when it comes to all state my school's music program makes up about a quarter of the people in the choir...sooo suck my dick (:
It may be because your state choir sucks ass. Stop bragging on the internet, no one gives a shit. Also, I find it odd that you are telling me to suck on your male genitalia; your picture clearly shows a female. Shemale?
@agentkro that's funny because our concert choir (the choir i'm in) and our chanmber choir just went to the heritage music festival and both of them won first place and the adjudicator's award. hmmm yeah we're probably not that good...just better than everyone else. ha
my problem is the sound too "spread out", like the vowels..they sound childish. you can't tell me that the texas all state choir couldn't perform this better..
we sing this in chorus at usdan [[summer camp]] and i love it, but i must admit, we sound so much better than these ppl. they sing it rele weird. i love singing this.
we did the same song at the music thing in muscat oman, there were schools from kuwait, pakistan, saudi arabia, ethiopia and tunisa except we had a lot more people so it was a lot louder and we did it faster
who is ur conductor? i'm a bass in the Connecticut All State Choir and we've got Dr. Andre Thomas and he's got the same exact selections. Looks like it's him conducting too. fantastic btw!
i dont remember. We sang this song, probably the german piece called "frolechetier ir af arden" or sumthing. But i actually think it was this song called "omni a sol"
wow that was amazing! we sang this last year for our all county and the runs werent nearly as precise. but we also only sang it together as a whole 2 or 3 times before concert. i dont know how much practice yall had but that was sooo good.
we had 2 days 10 hours each day. Learning the piece from start to finish as well as 6 other challenging pieces. Then performed them all. 2007 California all state honor choir.
You guys sound really good, and I dunno if its my speakers or not, but it sounds kind of.......flat. We sang this this year, and it was all about hitting the high notes with confidence. Anywho, still, good job guys :-)
Haha I'd forgotten I'd posted here. Anyway, I dunno, listen to the girls' first "God", it's now been a month since I've seen this and I'm on a different computer from before, and it sounds offish. I'm sure its something like the rendering from video to internet or something, cuz you guys do sound awesome.
This was my fave song, the way we did it, a girl and a guy had the opening verses as solos, and I was the only tenor who could do it confidently by myself. Good times.
Oh my god! This is SO good! I have to sing this song in choir and we are kinda bad....but this is amazing! I couldnt really hear their d's on "unmeasured praise". In choir we have to sing "unmeasure d'praise". So...yeah...but still this is AMAZING!
Regionals for PA this year!

Isn't it a bit slow for the piece? It still sounded good, but the versions I've heard have all been significantly faster.

No, I agree. At around 1:40, there is more than just one soprano note...there are about three. Not everyone can hit those notes.
I'm not saying they're bad, though. They're actually really good! But anyone can go flat.

His name is Douglas Salazar, and he's actually a legitimate soprano. He had a solo the year before in the Northern California Regional Honor Choir.

that's cool. in texas, you're not allowed to audition for other gender parts no matter how good you are at it. lol

@malchikcrazy09 well then do they do about all the middle schoolers with unchanged voices? or the one or two legit countertenors?
