this was first visit to your channel and my absolute FIRST attempt at baking a cake that's not from a box. with your recipe and tutorial, it came out DELICIOUS!!! half of it is literally gone already! thank you soo much. it didn't come out as beautifully brown as yours though (any tips for that btw?) but it looked and tasted fabulous. thanks again!!
I always hope that my tutorials are good enough that others can follow and have success.
You did very well and I congratulate you. It may have browned off if you had left the cake in the oven for longer. The important thing is that the cake was cooked throughout. Also ovens do vary, maybe next time try placing the cake on a slightly higher shelf to see if that makes any difference to the outside colour of the cake.
@OriginalNakedChef I've chalanged my mom and my sister to a cake baking competition (They have cooked loads before and this is my first time) But i remembered how delicious Lemon cake is. I tell you what im glad i fond your video! Their going down!
I wish you all the luck and obviously if I was judging, I would choose your cake, not that I am biased of course.
Best of luck to you and the looser does the washing up.
Let me know if you won the competition!
Once you win this challenge, you will have to let them have a re-match. Wait for a few weeks and I will have a delicious Victoria Sponge cake with butter cream and jam filling! Winner number 2!
hey the cake looks delicious and i wanna try making it, only thing is my baking tray is a lot smaller - think the size of a small flan cake so how much less flour, sugar and butter do you think i should use?
also would the cake taste nice if i added icing to the top? sorry just wanna finish my icing sugar off so if i added some runny icing do you think it would taste good? i could add the lemon drizzle to it to give it a nice lemony taste?
please help me here and tell me what you think, ta
There are some viewers that do not have an electric mixer, so I was showing them it could be done by hand. If you have an electric mixer please feel free to use it :)
That was a fantastic cake i ever made. thank you very much for the easy and simple recipe. I didnt use the lemon instead i used vanilla but it was the most delicious cake i ever made.
I just made this yesterday- I'm a terrible cook - but this cake came out so well!!! That my mother demandd to know where I GOT the recepie from and she insisted I write a Thank you! to you. As the cake turned out absolutley perfect just like something out of a shop. xxxxx Many Thanks xxxxx
Have spent much of the day making this cake. I think it is probably the nicest cake I have ever eaten! Sadly, I don't think it will last very long!! Thank you for a super recipe so simply demonstrated.
For me thats a great result. I know what it is like when you spend so much time making a dish. The hope is that at the end it will be worth all that time and effort :)
I must agree this is a great tasting cake that does not last long! Where does it all go?
nice one, i need to start baking. the lemon drizzle has to be the best part, gotta love the zing. almost 100 videos, anything special planned for the 100th?
@OriginalNakedChef your production equipment is more important, it would be better to invest in equipment rather than ingredients. i don't have an exact idea of what i'd like to see for a 100th episode. fancy ingredients are not necessary. i'd wouldn't mind seeing a longer video that covers an entire meal from start to finish including dessert. a homey, comfort food meal would be ideal.
warning... if you are craving something sweet or if you are famished, eat before watching this video!!! lol My mouth was watering, especially when he started to sample the cake *hangs head down in shame* I think I am going to give this one a try... looks yummy and SIMPLE to make. Myview246 2 months ago
@Myview246 oh and eggs, how many less eggs do i use? :)
Myview246 2 months ago
@Myview246
Different size cakes and quantaties:
You could use half the amount of ingredients. I.e.
115 grams of flour butter and sugar plus only 2 eggs.
Or make the quantity ¾ of the amount
170 grams of flour butter and sugar plus 3 eggs
Ref the icing. You could add it if you like it. I think the lemon drizzle is enough though. Try adding icing on only half the cake to try it :)

kumquatsta 1 year ago
@kumquatsta
The lemon drizzle taste yummy on it's own.The cakes a bonus!
I did think to do a 100th vid. The problem is what would be considered special?
I considered mini scotch eggs using quails eggs(possibly soft boiled).
I was going to present them in a deep fried birds nest of chips.
What put me off is the cost of the birds nest tool. It cost around £50.
I would rather put that money towards a decent camera.
I cant promise a special 100th vid but would appreciate ideas incase I do?

hi dad! very impressed with your cake! hope you dont put me out of business lol
I saw a post about using orange and thought i would confirm that yes you can use orange.
You will need to substitute the lemon with the zest and juice of one and a half oranges.
Orange drizzle cake is also nice if you add sultanas to the mix, or you can have orange and ginger. Both very nice! Maxine
p.s 200g is about 1 and a half cups. or 7 ounces

Orange drizzle cake is also nice if you add sultanas to the mix, or you can have orange and ginger. Both very nice!"
