Actually, 21 December 2012 IS the end of a cycle. The 26,000 year "Zodiac", for lack of a better phrase, star cycle observable from Earth. The Mayans accurately tracked the stars and did indeed figure out when the cycle ends, and then STARTS OVER!!! There is no "end of the World" anything that is going to happen on 21 December 2012. Anyone that tells you otherwise is selling a book or website. Purveyors of this nonsense are charlatans out to separate a fool from his buck. Sun cycles, that's it.
The weather has never stayed the same, and is correlated with the solar sunspots more than anything else. Droughts, floods, and hurricanes have been common throughout history, and they all increase when sunspots become more active. This is another Y2K all over again.
