@animagus333, ummm, that's where you are wrong, try looking up briggs and stratton vanguard diesel engine, and this is cold start and run of the diesel engine, i did that to one of my old moweer and it smoked like that until the engine warmed up then it stop smopkingunless heavy load then it put's out little black smoke

Its not diesel, its a petrol engine and they've put too much oil in the engine because they dont know what they're doing and this is just a consequence of it.

Will not wreck it instantaneously,but diesel has very low octane as its supposed to self ignite,so it will cause heavy knocking that will kill the engine over time.Also diesel has higher viscosity so if the percentage is too high,it wont come through the carb..(yes ive tried)Better to use kerosene,they say..As for your smoke show,I would rather have used a windshield flusher tank with oil in it and just a tube down the carb,tried that once with a B&S 2 hp..Smoked like hell,and no knocking.

and by the way that isnt a diesle mower it is a 12.5hp briggs & stratton gas mower 4 stroke. pretty sure it has I/C on the top of the shroud cover. btw im a totle nerd when it comes to mechanics my guess is that you had it layed over on it's side and the oil ran into the carb. causing that smoky affect.

It can be compressed higher bevore ignition. Thus diesel is a octane booter.
